I was thinking of starting a 3 man team of a prot pally and 2 priests, one disc/shadow and one full shadow. The thinking is the prot pally should be able to hold agro well enough and the priests should provide plenty of healing with the shadow abilities and buffs with the disc talents. I'd be rolling humans since they will be alliance, purely for the bonus to rep since imho alliance racial abilities are worthless for the most part. My end game goals are just to have a 3 man team for questing and possibly farming instances with a few friends. I know I lack cc but I have plenty of heals, tankage and hopefully dps.

That's a great foundation for PvE, you could definitely do well in any instance and the last 2 slots you can fill with anything which is great for friends/guildies. As for PvP it might work nicely in most battlegrounds. I'd say try it out, it's definitely the type of layout you want - why not go with it ? :) good luck!

It's good, but without some of the better talents from Holy on your primary healer type, I'd say you'll be hating life in instances until you gear up quite a bit.

At higher levels the Disc Priest could actually make a better tank than the pally :)

I guess by taking one priest holy the damage bonus from the pally will work in synergy and allow more healing than going full disc. I'd miss out on divine spirit, power infusion and pain suppression but I'd gain alot from the holy tree. Not a huge trade off for increased survivability. If I wanted to expand out to a 5 man crew I could add 2 mages or 2 locks (would work with the shadow priest for super dps).

Or you could go Smite spec hehe. Smite spec priests go hand in hand with paladins.
