View Full Version : Strategies for Outland instance Bosses

Figure I'll make a thread that summarizes the best strategies I've found for outland instances. If people respond with good quality strats for bosses, I'll add then to the main post. Think of it as a one stop shop for your "OMFG I HATE THIS BOSS!!!1!!one!1eleven!1"

Arcatraz-

Zereketh the Unbound ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Zereketh_the_Unbound') - Impossible to mutli-box IMO. Maybe with really high SR, but even with Priest SR buff, my team got rocked. SKIPABLE (Highly suggest just skipping). After about 15 wipes I decided it wasn't worth it. Deadly issues here:

1) Shadow Nova, Either LoS it or it hits for roughly 1-2k
2) Void Zones, 1k per second. If you're group is getting hit, strafe out or die. This combined with Shadow Nova can be VERY deadly
3) Seed of Corruption. Should be healed through really, 300 dmg a tick then explodes for 2k. SPREAD OUT :P
These combined are very hard to deal with. If you LoS the Shadow Nova, and spend too long you'll put a void zone in your LoS area. If you group up for too long, the see of corruption will get you. The Shadow Novas over a long time really start to hurt.

Wrath-Scryer Soccothrates ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Wrath-Scryer_Soccothrates') - Not bad fight, pretty easy once you get the strat down. Keybindings needed : Non-tank group strafe left/right. Strat:

1) Put group at a good distance, and engage with tank. Dps down, while watching heals on the tank. Tank will take a significant amount of dmg due to fire aura. Tank the mob FACING the group.
2) If you did ^ ^ then when he knocks your tank back, its should be roughly on yoru group. After the knockback he's going to charge (laying down a row of fire). Strafe your group right/left about 20 yrds and heal them up. Engage with tank and pull him away from the row of fire. (Watch the row of fire hits for bigger then the graphic shows).
3) Replace the boss how you first engaged him. Rinse repeat

Dalliah the Doomsayer ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Dalliah_the_Doomsayer') - Very easy fight. Just ensure you don't heal with debuff on, and interrupt the heals.

1) Tank with group away (she whirlwinds)
2) Keep tank topped off, so when the tank gets the debuff, it will be at full health.
3) Don't heal with debuff on, jsut wait (it's only 10 seconds).
4) On whirlwind, jump out and get ready to charge.
5) Right after a whirlwind she starts to heal, quickyl run in and interrupt! rinse repeat till dead.

Harbinger Skyriss ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Harbinger_Skyriss')- The encounter is the hardest part, but very doable. I personally got the Imp, then the sulfron, then blackwing.
Imp - Stand in melee range, dps down, and heal who gets hit with fireballs.
Sulfron, Keep Follow on, dps. When rain of fire, move mob. This is a run around like a monkey and use instant casts to dps fight.
Blackwing - Keep your DPS FAR away (blast wave sucks). Keep tank topped off for MS, and dps down. With 3 dps you can get down before final boss ( Note he is immune to fire).
Finally the boss. Right when he spawns, mark a raid target on him! Next follow this:

1) Engage with tank and start to DPS. Heal the dps that gets hit with the mind sear.
2) When boss splits, find the unmarked target and Kill it FAST.
3) Rinse repeat. Very easy if you kill the add quickly and heal the sears. Mindcontrols are just annoying, never had tank MC'ed.

I'm close to getting my 5 box group into the outlands, and I have always wished that some of the 5-boxers who are lvl 70 would do this.

You are my hero.

Zereketh is difficult but not impossible by any means (with casting range above 35ft). I just form a long line at 35 + ft and have my tank on the wall and you can avoid the SR / knockback totally.
If i weren't coding so much I'd contribute more, but I just dont have time just yet :(.

Yeah Skip it lol. Honestly before they nerfed the ability to kite her down the hall to where panteon the calc was, it was probably doable.

Only strat I've been playing with (and failing horribly), is to constantly kite, stop cast one spell and heal, and then kite more. But her dmg> heals still, and those fire eles if they catch up to the group = death. Just a fight that is REALLY multibox unfriendly :\

Oh, if you have a seperate tank, its probably doable. Have him kite in a circle around the very edge of the room. You should follow. Basically you'll have 2 fire elles on your ass, try to not die from them.

If you go in a circle the trail of flames won't be an issue :)

Thanks for this - it was very helpful. Am trying to do Arc with my 70 pally, 69 lock, and 3 69 shammies.

Frustrating, but makes for nice celebrations when you get the bosses down!

using prot pali 3 ele shaman 1 resto shaman I currently have on farm:

Steamvaults: Clear - 3 badges
UB: Clear - 4 badges
SP:Clear - 3 badges
Bot:Clear - 5 Badges
Mech:Skip 2nd boss - 3 badges
Ramps:Clear - 3badges

Total: 21 badges per day

considering i posted about a week ago wondering how icould get more than 4 badges a day Im rather pleased with myself :) I could probably do more but by the time Im done on that circuit Ive had enough of heroics for the day haha.

I'll do a strategy write-up for each on the wiki later on when i figure out how to edit a wiki as Ive never doneum before.

I have the same setup standard cheese prot pally 3 x ele and 1 resto shammy. About to hit 70 and gear up as quickly as I can to hit Heroics so I would be keen to read more on strats and I would like to get a feel at what level my gear should be before I move onto Heroics. If you could do a write on the Wiki or just make a post here that would be great. We can always move it to the Wiki later.

I ding'd 67 on the boomkins today and since I was in the area...I decided "HAY LETS TRY TO SOLO AUCH CRYPTS LOL"...trash wasn't too bad long as I kept my alts unshifted to heal my main tanking in leather. However, once I got to Shirrak, it all went to shit. Aoe Bleeds, Aoe 200% slower cast debuff...christ, got him down to about 50% before it was too slow to handle and he started picking off the alts then my main lol, boomkin-viable suggestions? :P

what I would suggest is pick 1 shaman to be your healer, give him all you healing drops and let him do all your healing, when it gets to the point where you dont want him to nuke becuase hes either always healing or needs to save mana to heal then thats the time to resepc im resto.

So I should be fine just healing with them all and nuking the rest of the time? Have any of you needed to do one resto before level 70 ? I am only doing NON collection quests unless it leads to an upgrade. So the rest of the time will be in instances for leveling. If having one go resto now will save me time ( less wipes ) I will do it now. If keeping them all ele spec until a certain point is better ( faster dps=faster clears?) Also I have a disc priest and mage for buffing my team before they enter instances.

EffexThat really is pretty impressive. Otherwise you might want to start out in word/wordpad/notepad and then post it. Undoubtly somebody would be interested in helping out to put it on the wiki. Also, wondering about your gear level, have some armory links?
