Alliance vs Horde for BGs

Guys, I need some advice related to playing on Alliance or Horde.

Currently my main team is on Horde. The problem is that BG queues are horrible 8-10 mins average queues. And if I choose a specific BG it can go up to 30-45 mins wait.

On Alliance even specific BGs are somewhere in the 3 mins wait range, let alone random BG which is like under 1 min wait time.

So I'm considering moving back to Alliance but first I would like to know if you guys think this is worth it. The only reason why I wouldn't move is if in Cata, the queues will be short for both horde and alliance. And the only way I see them getting fixed is if the BGs will be like arena today, any faction against any faction, not just Alliance vs Horde. The reason I think that is because on the Bloodlust battlegroup, there is a huge imbalance in horde vs alliance population and not just on my server, but on most servers in the BG.

I think they said the BGs will be unified even more and all US realms will be part of one large pool, but would that really fix the horde queue times if the overall number of people pvp-ing on horde is much larger than the number of people pvp-ing on alliance?

Currently, do any of you from horde side, but other than Bloodlust BG, have short queues?

I transferred from Vengeance to Bloodlust around last December.

On Vengeance, Horde bg queues were much faster (usually 1 minute or less). However, if you wanted to do 5s in arena, you'd be looking at over a 10 minute wait queue on just about any day expect mondays.

I finally created a set of alliance shammys on Tichondrious and they are finally getting close (level 72) so that way I can experience both sides. I may xfer them over to Ner'zhul after 80 so that I can gank both sides.

That should hopefully even out the some servers more horde/alliance thing a bit I'm hoping. Will definitely be interesting fore arena's so you don't play the sme 2 or 3 teams all night sometimes.

Hey Firstcow, you should just wait until cataclysm, they are merging all BG servers and Arena servers for all of north america. That should hopefully even out the some servers more horde/alliance thing a bit I'm hoping. Will definitely be interesting fore arena's so you don't play the sme 2 or 3 teams all night sometimes.

I think that's what I'm going to do. Or just start leveling some teams on alliance too and decide in Cata which team will be main and on what side I want to play.

haha - i didn't realize that was you last night in AV. I just got my alliance shammys to 80 and that was my first 80 AV with them. I saw a decked out DK/ret team and didn't realize it was you as I thought you were horde.

You have to love the alliance queue times. I did nothing but EOTS yesterday, and with instant queues I went from 78 to 79 in 1 hour 4 minutes. The downside of leveling that way was that I don't even have quest blues so I dinged 80 with a 1600 gearscore.

Zappy I moved my shamans to alliance, but I met you in the 61-70 AV. Man it was terrible with my warlocks, which I had no idea how to play. The horde were too busy cursing about you and bitching at me, telling me to kill you. My only response was "Um.... he has five grounding totems, I don't."

That's great. Man, those 5 seeds absolutely destroy. I really should continue to level mine as they are mid 20s right now.

Yea I moved to alliance together with Elemental. The horde queues are infuriating and lately I was spending more time waiting in the queue than playing. Cata is still far out so I want to be able to enjoy my play not spend 4 months frustrated.

Quick noob question and I really just can't get my mind to figure it out, if I'm ranking 400 in 5s on ruin at 1800 and see bloodlust rank 400s at 1000 rating, which is the easier bg to get a higher rating? (flamed me if you want arena junkies for trying to get easy shoulders)

You can conclude about those numbers that Bloodlust has less 5vs5 teams then Ruin. Since you only have to have 1k to be 400th, which is close to nothing. While you need to get some decent games done to get 1800 and be 400th aswell.

Can't really say anything about it, because number of teams matter less then how skillfull they actually are. Ruin obviously has less 2,4k+ rated players. But that's not something that matters, because you won't be meeting those anyway. Allthough i guess that any serious pvper migrates away from Ruin because it's dead. So that should make it easier for you to get 1,8k or so. But once you're pretty high, there are fewer teams to get queue'd up against, so you'll meet the same teams more often.

If you're gonna pay a transfer for it, i'd just stick where you are. If you got money growing on your back, then i guess going to ruin and back could help.
