Goal : Obtain 2k rating in 5v5 bracket enabling me to play against the best my battlegroup has to offer.
~Complete~
There’s just one catch, it’s frustrating. Not for losing, because I am still progressingly upwards, but for the tactics that are used in high end PvP. Possibly your average team doesn’t run into this scenario, but due to playing 4 characters maybe it is more common.
The Problem:
A pure Defense utilizing LoS objects with 0 form of Offense.
To elaborate on that, I’m not describing the opponet who becomes the Focus Fire target and runs to avoid being blasted. Were talking about an entire team that REFUSES to fight, or has a tactic I’m unaware of, perhaps hope the other team Disconnects or gives up and leaves?
This isn’t just one team but numerous 2250+ 5’s that I come across that will simply run away from me the entire fight. I would fraps these matches but who wants to watch a 30+ minute clip of 1 team hiding beyond pillars?
Scenario: It’s Nagrand Arena we are both behind our respective pillar, minutes go by and I go on the offense and scoot up to their pillar. They mount and run away. Warrior has a Sword/Shield and in Defensive stance, circling around pillars hamstringing me while the rest of the team offers no form of offensive abilities or spells. 20 Minutes go by and from a miracle my Paladin teammate stuns the target long enough for me to get a kill off. You’d think they would change the gameplan after this point. Wrong. The remaining members run around, another 20 minutes go by and the match is finally over. 29 points in my favor - but it wasn’t even worth it, I didn’t even enjoy getting my biggest win yet. That’s not PvP.
To be sure this team wasn’t sold, I looked it up and all members are originals with a 2300 rating with over 200 games played.
The fix for this was in the Arenas when they first came out. What happened to the Tornado’s, they don’t need to circle the entire match just have them encapsulate the LoS objects so if someone is treehuggin’ it will slap them away.
Is this an issue only a Dual-Boxer such as me experiences? Or am I one of the few that likes to go into a match with Spells blazing and Swords swinging.
