http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MttNe1xgwH4 I can't seem to find the other video of the same quest, but that guy had higher settings on his graphics and you should have seen the stutter. Right now with a super fast computer I still get slowdown with certain terribly coded things. (Ground AoE effects I hate you.) I can see this area killing my computer such that I would have to take one character at a time through here.

I don't think it'll be horrid because you aren't doing any actions on that flight, just letting it take you for a ride.

I have noticed though, that unless you're running a 1GB + card that those things will slow you down quite a bit because all of those textures need to load. (Of course this depends on your draw distance and what effects you have turned on, along with how many clients you run).

People still play single characters with cards that are 5 years old and Blizzard wants the game and zones to be accessible for them.

holy molly, that's one good looking Maelstrom.
not sure why is stutters like that after the loading page, i couldn't see that many special effets around.
I think he had his max view distance very high though, he could see the whole place. Reducing that should help i reckon.

Definitely this. The new zones on Ultra settings are pushing my GTX 260. He could've also been using the experimental DX11 engine which makes my card stutter.

What a beautiful area... That's just stunning!

I'm sure in Cataclysm you will be able to dial down the graphics to just about nothing like you can now. If they set the minimum requirements too high they're going to lose lots of people. You'd be surprised what people play WOW on now- P3's and Acers...

Might look ugly while boxing but should be doable.

it should be very doable, the water effect needs to be turned off though.

Keep in mind processing power, both of g/cards and cores is progressing at it's normal rapid Moores Law pace too.

When I first started 5-boxing (all on one PC) 2 years back I bought about the second best or so g/card I could. Latest cards are putting out nearly triple the performance of it.

I plan on a hardware overhaul for Cata, certainly of the g/card and of anything else required to.
