I have searched for this for the last three days with no luck.
Can someone explain to me again why I want to set up an arena 5s team, and lose all 10 matches every week ?
I vaguely remember there was a sound reasoning behind it, but for the life of me can't recall what it was.
Thank you in advance for your help

Because even @ 0 rating, you get points as if you were 1500 rated. You get points no matter what your sub 1500 rating is as if you were @ 1500.
This means you would get 344 points every week. If you do the random BG everyday and win you get 25 arena points, that's 519 points every week (344 + 7*25). This would allow you to buy the i251 Relentless PvP gear (Buy with Honor / Arena Points instead of Frost Badges).

Thanks Svper,
I knew there was a reason behind it, just couldn't remember what it was....lol
My pally tank already has all his relentless gear, but I can use this strat to gear up the other toons.
Do you wear the PvP gear in raids ? Seems like on my server that would be the only way to meet the elitist "GS" requirements that PuG organizers seem to have.

Or set up games with another boxer, its always fun and you will learn a bit and you both win. It will help you gear up too. Instead of just getting 344 you will get more points as you pass 1500.

Thats too close to win trading for my comfort.

Happens all the time. If you look on AJ teams post when they are queuing, its no different. There is no guarantee you will get your friend but its playing just the same.
So many people forget this is a fricken video game. You sell gold to pay for your subscriptions and your giving me shit about advice to help him learn and gear up quicker. lol

Him selling gold is not something he's recommending others to do.
Recommending others to wintrade to get more arena point with a chance to get banned, is far from advisable imo. Especially since the odds you'll actually get more points and a GM doesn't undo it is pretty big?

Where did I say wintrade?
Seriously.
Sigh, just another reminder why I dont come to these forums very often anymore.

Letting others know when you're queing and queing when you know others are queing is not wintrading.
Purposefully losing to the same team over and over and them losing to you over and over IS win trading.

Here we go again.
well he only asked about the 10 weekly losses. So we can just get that part sorted out. No need to go too far with it.
I, personally, think Qing together is no big deal. Really really low chance you get the same team over and over. And as far as I can tell, there are a lot of teams Qing at off hours too. So in other words, it is not a problem unless you are really high up in ratings and team can be matched for you are very limited.
If you 1500 and you trying to queue, you will get tons of teams matched against you.

Well... THAT was certainly interesting....lol
In less than 30 minutes, including queue times, I managed to get annihilated in 5 arena matches. Arenas are definitely different from BGs, PvE, and world PvP.
I wasn't expecting to actually WIN any of the matches, but I have to admit I was rather impressed with the expediency of some teams to dismantle my poor nooblets....lol
I do think that my 4th match was a bit unfair, being matched against a team with a 1900+ rating, but oh well. Half of the games down for the week, half to go.

Im in hawaii and play late, the only time I get a team -- is if I que my other group of five.
Unless I get home early and go straight to arena, or do arena the night before when people are OMG NEED PTZ! Also for my current BG that the shaman are on, there are VERY FEW teams. Hell 1200 rating is like top 400.... wtf seriously?

K, I've got a question here. This is for 5v5, so I run 4 accounts and don't have a friend on when I am anymore to fill the 5th and don't won't to pug the last slot. Since I've got two of my teams to 80, 4xPaladins, and 1xPriest/3xHunters, could this work if I drop a Pally and do the 3x3 with 3xPallies, another 3x3 with my Hunters, and do 2x2 with My Priest+slave Pally? I'd like to gear them all up faster than running the BGs for just Honor Points, but have never run arenas before.

Yes you can, but 5's is more points + you need to do 30 games instead of 20.
I'd just pug a random, the only thing they have to do is accept the arena queue and leave again. nps. especially if you allready have a team.
And yes, i'm still going reply to this:

You're suggesting something bannable and then you're respond to the people discouraging it is not exactly positive. Maybe the problem isn't the people who discourage people to do bannable things..............

It isn't against the rules to play another team on purpose, if you are both trying to win.
You only have to play 10 games no matter which bracket and have 30% played games. With 2 groups of 5, I play 5 for 3 games then switch to the others for 7.
Saves a ton of time.

probably also OK if one team only loses, and one team wins, cause there's no "trading" going on, but yes, its better if both teams actually fight to win.

Nighthawke, when I get back and rolling I'll make a team and we can take turns laughing at how you destroy me. Laugh-trading is shady, but acceptable.
My noob question about arena PvP is can I, with 519 points a week, get some of the harder to get items on my pvp team? A 251 pvp ring is much better than a 200 PvE one :/ Rings, trinkets and neck pieces suck on all of my 80s, with one or two exceptions.

Most of the stuff that u buy with arena points requires an arena rating, with the exception of the Relentless Set items. You can convert arena points into honor points (100 arena points = 2000 honor points i believe) and some of the Wrathful 264 stuff is available. U can buy that stuff in stormwind/orgrimmar.

My thoughts exactly! I started doing 3's with the intention of losing all games. It is amazing how fast some teams can obliterate you. Within 15 seconds everyone is face down in the dirt.
However, you may get a miracle and win a game or two. I managed to kill the same team twice last night - two druids and a rogue. I think they were confused about who to attack and wtf was I doing. They never attacked me as a group only one on one with their tree spamming hots. It was very satisfying to see a win once in a blue moon.

fury war,aff lock and ele(resto) shaman?
You couldnt have picked a harder 3s team to play? ;p
Seriously gotta be hard to play that.
Thru hundreds of games and trial and error I have done pretty well in 2s/3s(dont expect a gloat post from me), for really one reason.

Yeah not an ideal comp to say the least. It was thrown together out of necessity. I only have 4 80's and these 3 were the most geared :) The shammy is the only one i want to get the arena points with. The others are simply bait.

I did my first week of 10 matches with a prot pally, shadow priest, arcane mage, mutilate rogue, and druid tree.
I actually won 2 matches.
Okay...
I had 2 teams quit on me. ;)
