Some old friends have been playing in this mega guild (2000-3000 people?) called "Alea Iacta Est" (http://www.aie-guild.org/)

Not trying to promote it, hehe, just curious if anyone is there? I moved an toon over the weekend just to play with them and check it out.

Debating on moving a team over there.

What do you see as the perks of a large guild? I recently have had reason to make long drives on a weekly basis so I started downloading WoW podcasts - something I've never done before. I bring that up because one of the best one, "The Instance", is hosted by a couple of guys that apparently run the largest guild in the world (I think that's what they said... never bothered to fact check). It sounded like a cool community.

I used to play solo on ER aliance with some friends, first server I started on. I have some alt 40's that I boxed there as well. I might get on every now and then but I mean i wouldnt be much help to yah or anything and I probably wouldn't join a guild.

Good to see a familiar reaml though
goodluck!

Good question.
Where I am at: I have been getting a little bored with boxing. I 4box, and been playing my dk 3 rets for a while now. I rely on a few friends to heal in heroics. Nothing else I can buy with badges, except gems. I am pvp caped, and buying gems as well. My healer friend and I are working on growing our 5s rating, just hit 1300 this week (woots). But, I really don't want to spend 10k x 3 on hilts. I have something casually worked out with my current guild to get the heroic byntroll, but it hasn't dropped in 3 weeks, and only one of my rets has it. So, we loose a lot of games, because I just cant execute a kill fast enough.

So a few weeks ago, got reconnected with a few friends from vanilla/ BC. They have moved around to a few different realms, and found this mega guild. They have been in it a few months, and just had a lot of good things to say: super friendly, self sufficient, there is something always going on (old world raids, achievements, new raids, etc).

As a solo player, I have always been in the top 1 or 2 guilds on whatever server I was on. Most of those guilds have a lot of elitist players, which always makes me laugh. So, only being in this new mega guild for a few days now, I can't emphasize enough, it's so refreshing to see friendly people. It kinda gives me hope to this game.

So for me, the biggest perk ATM with this guild, it's a nice change of pace. I brought over my original character, a priest. Very undergeared, and now just grinding out heroics for badges. Gonna try an ICC 25 in a week or so, see how I do :D

I play on ER Horde as well, I've been here since launch. I had to disable RP walk in PvP however, it just made things too difficult. :D

that guild and the one the op mentioned are one in the same :) i was a member for a while i would still be there if i didnt come back to madoran to play with some long time friends when wrath dropped. its a nice place. lots of the crappy things about other people in general are kinda kept at bay by a very active officer corps.

I'm on ER, but Alliance only. All my toon slots are filled with every class, so unless they add more with Cataclysm, I'm not playin Horde here. Those are spread over different realms I hardly play now. ER has always been home to me. I see people from that guild runnin around all the time. Not sure if it's the original guild or one posing as them. My play time is limited to mostly early am between 5am to 9am if I get on after work. My mains are Lansylot (pally), Bynton (priest(), and Brummly (hunter). The rest of my alts hardly get any play time, but don't want to delete them cause they've got too much invested into them, like achievements, and pets I can't get again. If Cat offers more toon slots, then I'll start up some Horde on there as well.

I'll assume they rarely have more people on than there are in trade.

not every one talks in trade ... whereas (just an assumption) the % of participants in gchat might be higher, and is visible/accessible from anywhere in the world. If during prime time 10% is online I can't really imagine how that goes.
