View Full Version : Boosting with a Demo lock.
I've boosted with holy / Ret pallies, Ice / arcane mage, and now a demo lock. Repair bills a bit high, but offset by DE'ing greens and blues for low level mats then selling them. Demonic circle and sacrifice helped to offset damage, and once I got that figured out my repair cost per run went down.
Once you get them gathered, Met then immo aura. Kill the mobs that shield stun before you get them all gathered.Went from 8-19 RFC. After 18 the leveling slowed way down in RFC. It might be more effecient to run to SFK @ 15. Got locked out once 8 to 19. That might have been a good time to make the switch to SFK. @ 20 heading to SM.
Anyway, not sure if anyone's tried this yet. I'm fairly worried about repair bills getting out of hand once I get to SM where they hit a bit harder. I've got some fraps vid, but I'm going to wait to see if the lock is viable beyond RFC to post.
SM worked out pretty well.... We went to SFK for the last half of a level from 19 to 20. Hearthed, got mounts, got ported to Dal by my son's mage, set our hearth in Dal, then portaled to UC. got 5 levels in an a little more than an hour, but we were looting. After all was said and done... 25 g repair bill on the lock, but got a ton of mats. That wasn't bad at all. Stopped doing grave yard right away. Full pull Lib, Two pull Armory, Two pull Cath. The casters leash in Library so we're not really getting a full pull, but we are getting anything that will keep aggro. Using Demon armor when not bubbled. Fel armor when bubbled. Using Demonic Circle like blink. I can leave the toons at the beginning at every instance except cath and drag the pulls back with the help of Demonic Circle. We push forward to the fountain in Cath when its time to pull the Cathedral. It's easier to run and loot there.
Pretty happy with the way this turned out. Not as costly as I expected, but could have been faster if we didn't loot. It felt faster than pally or mage but I'm not certain about that. I would have to do some timed tests, and that isn't going to happen.

Here's a really good thread on boosting that fell off the first page:

Personally I wouldn't boost with a lock, mage, or ret paladin. It might be ok up through vanilla instances but once you start getting up to TBC dungeons it's going to suck pretty bad. The norm is a prot paladin or a bear/druid. to boost. But you work with what you got!
Repair bills I honestly can't say I've ever paid attention to them. Except if my entire 80 team is wiping :D that crap can get expensive quick!

Thanks for the link Jink. I've read some of the boosting threads a long time ago, didn't see this one. Up until now my kids have all taken turns boosting my toons with their pallies. I don't have one. My druids aren't a high enough level yet. I have a mage and my main is a lock. I didn't like boosting with the mage... so yeah, I was working with what I had. I'm really just trying to get as many toons to 60 as I can before the three months are up.
I'm RAF'ing with my son who doesn't box. All my kids are getting mounts, cold weather flying, and starting to save for 310 training in Cat. I don't have a full team that is on farm mode yet so gold is still somewhat important. I was just a bit worried because when I started boosting with the lock in RFC, I took some heavy damage on just two runs. Knowing that there were a gazillion more to go, that started to add up in my head.
Thanks again for the link, I'll just let this thread die out then.
