Anyone else excited about the announced Warhammer 40k

Its 3 years out so its hard to get real excited but this is what I wanted when they announced the other WH mmo.

As a table top Warhammer 40k player im torn on this one... really id like to see it something different than a traditional EQ/WOW style game.

I just cant picture them doing right by the game, so im hopeful but fearful.

Really I think 40k would make a better FPS / RPG hybrid game.

I never played DoW1 but but I heard it was pretty good, I played DoW2 and the chaos expansion. Also reading the Horus Heresy series as i find the books at the local used bookstore.

Having played all the RTS WH40k games, I'm a bit leery of this. Relic made the RTS but Vigil is making the mmo. Not sure who Vigil games is. Their website says they're doing this mmo and they did Darksiders (console game) which is basically God of War in fantasy/medieval garb.

very true. in my opinion they ruined the dawn of war name when they removed base building. dow2 was not made by the same artists that created dow1.

but anyways.

If they could somehow make it a have the massive vehicular combat of Planetside with some story/lore driven quests I might be interested.

Well the real catch here is which WH 40k are they basing it on? The rich lore from the past 15 or so years? The current tabletop strat game? Or the RTS franchises they have had over the years. All of the games vary enough that it will be hard to please all the 40k fans.

Personally I'd love something with a more RPG slant that goes off of all the old reference books from that early 90s. And the factions would be great too! Eldar, Chaos, Space Marines, Genestealers, oh my!
