View Full Version : Account Restoration Process Help

Hi all,
so as some may have read my accounts got hacked about 10 days ago. Today blizz started to restore my toons, so far a ton of stuff is missing and the only 80s that have been restored to close to what they were are the ones which were transferred off my accounts.
One full account they have sent me an email saying that it could not be restored and when I called blizz said they could nto see that the account had been accessed, yet both my 80s on that account are naked except for items which could not be DE'ed. Blizz phone support have referred me to the ingame gms to further help with the restore.
So now while I am waiting for a GM response I really have no idea of the individual items that are missing, 13 fully epiced 80s is hard to keep that sort of track. What can I do? What can a GM see to help with restoring the toons? I really would prefer a toon rollback but phone support has said that rollbacks can only be done on toons which have been transferred off the account.
REALLY frustrated right now, HELP!!!:(

Now some may have better answers but...
From my experience of being hacked it sounds like you are on the right road to recovery. It is a terrible process and no, you will not return everything. Even if you knew what was missing you wouldn't get it all back...
The good news is, you may get random triples of stuff.... My g-bank got raided and not only did I get 2K gold stuck into the bank, because the bank logs said I lost 2K they restored that too...Not including the TONS of herbs/minerals I got that I never had. However... I did lose tons of gear that they said "could not be restored" including at the time twink items some purples...pvp gear etc.
A little sprinkling of everything, I wish you the best of luck with this but my advice...Be happy you can get on the account and focus on the characters 70% of gear is replaceable. If you can't you'll just get frustrated and burn yourself on the game =/

I would be simply happy if the hacked toons had their main set of gear back. Unfortunately I had 3 batter hilts sitting on various toons, none of those have been recovered. The only toons they really had a decent restore on was the transferred toons but my hunter (one of the transferred toons) does not have any of his pets and is also missing his weapons.
I agree that it is very frustrating but with 13 80s and only 4 now really playable, that is a really sucky restore.

It took me about 10 days to get my stuff. I had all 6 tabs in my gb filled up, one had over 200 gems, i got around 600 epic gems now and tons of other stuff.
Anyways, the reason you might not get certain things back, is if the hacker sold it on AH, which they did to some of primordial saronite. I had only 3 on me at the time, and thankfully a GM caught that, returned the auction.
Lesson learned tho, you'll definetely want to invest in an Authenticator, even if it sucks loging in one at a time for 10X accounts.

Well one of my other frustrations is that most of the toons also had Frost badges, some had over 100 unspent and only my priest so far has had these returned. My hunter on another account actually had nothing except for the frost badges taken, I presume this was because I logged into the account as they were stripping it cause my account with my tanks was also untouched. I presume Frost Badges = Primoridal Saronite :(
So far I am WAYYY!!! behind in what I have gotten back, possibly not even a third of what I lost has been restored. Also with the high queue times for GMs I have not been able to talk directly with an ingame GM, instead just been getting their response via in game mail which for the most part have been generic BS.

High level GM's which manage accounts can see everything that's ever happened to your character. The logs Blizzard keeps are frighteningly detailed. Every word you've ever spoke- every letter you ever typed has been logged.
Everything that got DE'd- sold, etc... I don't see why they'd have any problem restoring you to exactly the way you were pre-hack.

EXACTLY my thoughts, I work for a bank and our online banking does the same thing, we can see EVERYTHING.
I got talking to a GM this morning and he took more notes on all the missing stuff and what toons were affected, I listed all the toons that were not restored (really only 4 out of 13) and he said the original ticket had been closed, wtf, they restored some lower level toons and did a 20% restore on most of the rest, total half assed effort.\
The real pain point I have with the process is that there is no direct contact, no one person will take ownership and so I feel like I am not getting any real support. Even getting talking to a GM was painful, the first ticket I submitted got a generic response saying that they had missed me online, I had been online the whole time, it was only by stating how frustrated I was and that I wanted to talk to someone and not get a generic response that got me to speak with a GM.
VERY dissappointed with support at present :(

Well man I'm sending good vibrations your way. People on the customer service forum are saying similar things and having similar problems. 15 days is also about how long people are having to wait...
All I can suggest is keep on it and be digilent. Sounds like you're just getting lost in the masses of tickets. Hit the customer service forums asking for some answers! They can also escalate your tickets there- its a fast track. When I needed help because one of my guys was still under trial restrictions after buying the game- got them to take the restriction off very quickly.

Ya it sounds like they've been hit with alot of account hacks, and having to do crummy restores for people in order to handle the masses.
The hacks going on lately, are becoming smarter, and harder to detect. Due to this I have fired up and old Pc to simply surf the internet now. My wow PCS and logins(wow email) are completely firewalled, and I never check emails, or do anything other then log in to Account MGMT, and the game.
GL with your restore. Send another ticket in and keep on them.

I recently had my accounts restored after a hack. They see everything that happened the day of the hack - all currency that was exchanged, all items. You will receive everything in the mail. In addition, all of the goods the hackers bought with your currency (emblems, honor/arena points) and didn't mail away quick enough, will remain. I pretty much doubled my assets as a result of being hacked.
Overall, I'm kinda glad I was hacked. The only hassle at all was calling billing, but I just put my phone on speaker and watched TV until they answered (took over an hour). A few days later my mailbox is full of gold, items, and emblems and all my arena and honor points were restored. I got to keep stacks and stacks of gems and primordial saronites.
But, I wasn't active in the game during all of this, so I'm a bit biased. Not being able to play for several days (or having to play with half your gear missing) may have sucked.

All you really can do is just lay and wait on them, When I was hacked It felt like it took forever, but it also seems recent times as the OP's have stated they are a lot of accounts being compromised now.
So my advice would be to keep those tickets flowing until your completely satisfied with your restore/s. granted as the OP's has also stated you will not get everything back but you will get a good majority of it back.
sorry to hear that is has happened to you though, GL in getting all of your toons back to their original state.

Well as another update, they redid the restore on the account that they said could not be restored and said they had a problem with their logs, my warlock is pretty much back to the way he was but my shaman and hunter are still missing frost badges and about 30% of their gear. They also gave these toons a discretanary 800g which for two of the toons they had over 3k on each one. Resubmitted another ticket *sigh* , as I get closer on these accounts it is getting a little easier to remember what is mising although I am sure I will miss stuff many months down the road.
I still have 2 other account which remain virtually unrestored, even though when I spoke with the GM yesterday he said he had added the details of which toons to look at into the ticket :(

Well I just got done with an ingame game, she was the first person who really helped. She got everything restored with the exception of 3 sets of BoA shoulders and chestpieces and about 150 frost emblems across 3 toons. Otherwise the rest has been pretty much restored.
As a last note, she said there is currently 2 - 3000 accounts hacked daily just in US and Australia.
Back to farm badges to replace the BoA gear :-(
