View Full Version : [Keyclone] Maximiser window unclickable

I recently updated my copy of keyclone from a really old one (1.8k i think) to the latest (1.9i), mainly because my older version was having problems with Windows 7 (understandably) and refusing to shut down properly.

Only problem is the latest version has developed a weird bug where I can't interact with the 'maximiser' section within the 'setup' window. I can click the buttons around the edge to give me the pre-made window settings, and I can import settings fine if only I could work out how to write the file for them, but the window where normally you can drag around where the tiles come up is unclickable. Unfortunately this means I can't select any of the panes within it to change the resolution or PiP hotkey (although I can export it and change it by hand).

The weirdest thing is that it worked fine for the first hour or so, and it was clickable and working fine. I believe I then pressed the snap-to-grip button and it all then stopped working. It doesn't even seem to work on my older version now
Oh, and yes I'm running it as admin (so that it saves the settings).

I've done a quick search of the forum and turned up nothing. Hopefully I have just made some stupid mistake, but I can't for the life of me work out what.

Thanks in advance,
Plid

When you hit a preset button and the boxes appear on the window, are you able to manipulate the boxes to move them around or resize them?

I suspect that you have a clean slate, and there are no actual windows but merely a background for the windows to be placed on. You can verify this by the color of the background (gray) and the presence of dots. If the box looks teal in color, you have an actual maximizer window for the game display.

No I can't even select them. Similarly if I hit the [ + ] button at the top it adds a box but that is also unclickable. It is as if the whole frame is just an image, it does not respond to anything,

If I use one of the presets to place the boxes there then keyclone appears to load the windows up into the correct positions and resolutions, however I cannot edit these presets at all. The boxes appear a greeny color, and pressing the reset button (to remove the boxes) leaves a dark gray background with dots on. It all looks perfectly legit from first glance.

Have you tried starting with a preset and then altering the windows by selecting the teal (bluish-green) window and typing numbers in the "x,y" or the "w,h" boxes at the top?

These correspond to the x,y of the top left corner of the window and the width, height of the window from that point.

BTW, the .max files are of the format below for the parts after the display name. The setup in the .max file isn't quite the same as the maximizer window inside Keyclone. The top left corner is 0,0 and continues right to 0,1440 to 900,0 at the bottom left corner and the end of the display is 900,1440 ( based on a 1440 x 900 widescreen display)

So, each frame is in the format:

<upper left corner pixel>, <upper right corner pixel>, <lower left corner pixel>, <lower right corner pixel>

The height and width are no involved in the .max file.

Ah that explains why I couldnt get the .max files to match up properly at any rate.

If I put a preset in I cant click the boxes at all, it responds as if there aren't any boxes in the window at all - so the x,y w,h fields remain blank - as they would if there were no boxes in the frame at all. If I click on one of the boxes in the frame it doesn't change color, I cant adjust its settings, and I cant adjust its size by dragging its corners or the fields above.

so I just transferred keyclone over to my desktop in the hope that starting fresh would fix all my problems. First time I ran it I was able to set up the maximiser settings using the window no problem at all. However I then restarted it and once again the maximiser settings window is broken, I cant click any of the little panes in the display-preview windows, and as such cant set their settings.

The only similarity I can draw between my laptop and desktop is theyre both running windows 7 (desktop is 64 bit, laptop is 32 bit). If thats the only thing messing them up I would have thought there would be more people reporting the issue though, and a search of the forum suggests I am the only one to be struck by this plague :(

I just had to wipe my comp and went with windows 7, and I didn't have the problem you are having, however I DID have a problem where my keyclone folder was set to 'read-only' (stupid windows 7!), so it wouldn't let me change any settings at first. Just a shot in the dark, but maybe you should check that folder, to see if it's set like that?

I had that at first too, but running as admin got rid of it.
oh the joys of windows 7!
