Have different teams setup (character sets). Typically, when I want to play my shammy team, just load it up. If I want to swap to my DK+3rets, I close everything out and relaunch 4 wows.
However, I have been kinda wanting to sub a priest on another team into my DK and rets. Is it a better way instead of making another team, closing and relaunching wow, each time I want to swap one of the rets for a priest?
TEAM A - 1A 2A 3A 4A
TEAM B - 1B 2B 3B 4B
TEAM C - 1C 2C 3C 4C
modified Team B - 1B 2B 3C 4B or 1B 2B 3B 4C
Thanks,
Acid

I know if you go back to the character select screen, you can launch a new character set, and almost everything works the same as if launching the new set from the desktop.
I believe, the window layout is not changed, if the teams are different. Everything else should update fine.
I actually go to the desktop, just about every time that I change teams. But there hasn't been a queue to log in, in quite some time, so that's not really a penalty for me.
You could make use of virtual mapped keys. Something like, you push 1, which is your DPS key, and is virtualized as assorted dps options depending on the toon. I've not really done this at all; just have dps things on 1-3, heals on 7-9 etc, across any team.
But I don't really mix and match toons.
I have occasionally traded one toon from Team A for another toon on Team F. Then you have the drag the toon into the slot, drag the other toon out of the slot. Edit a few mapped keys, especially the round-robins or if a given team has a Keymap specific to the team.

dumb question, but how do you load a new character set at the wow character selection screen?

Right click on the IS icon, in the task bar, go up to Character Sets and pick a different one.

Also something else worth keeping in mind, if you want a team identical to the one you have, simply copy the character set and then paste it, then rename to whatever you want and replace whatever toon you need to drop into that team.
I do this a lot when I want variations of my 13 80s.
As was stated you can then reload these character sets at the character selection screen and all should work fine.
Something else that was mentioned before was that you can also create slots without toon names, and in that way it might also make it faster to swap toons, everything would be slot dependent.
LAX? Is this possible by editing the ISBoxer file directly?
Umm... No, every Slot must have a Character assigned. You can make your key maps slot-based instead of character-based but it still needs the character names to fill in any macros. If you don't have ISBoxer generate macros with your character names, you can make everything slot-based but then you're going to have to make your own follow and assist macros... so I'm not really sure what gain you're actually trying to get out of that ;)
All I do for variations on the same team is swap characters in to my existing character set and re-launch. My mappings are class-based, using Action Target Groups and sometimes virtual mapped keys (not really necessary but helps keep the number of Actions down to cover each class/spec), so it generally doesn't matter who is in what slot. I spam my DPS key and they do their spec-specific rotations, I hit my targeted AoE key and whoever has a targeted AoE gets the ground targeting circle up for me to aim and click, etc.
