is that possible? I feel like this is a noob question.

If my main has a focus, can the slaves cast to mains focus without setting their focus?

You cannot see what another characters focus is.

You could have the first character target their own focus.
And then have other characters cast at the first characters target, or even set their focus to that target.

that's what I do right now. Just wanted to make sure there wasnt a better way.

What I use on my holy pala

/cast [@focustarget, harm] Judgement of Light

The tank is my focus and casting JoL on his taget. Don“t think there is a focusfocus

That would involve your alt casting on your main's focus which would be an enemy, but you have to use the enemy's focus which could be his healer, then on the healer's focus (which is his tank). So that would just loop back to your main's target. It would really mess you up if the enemy's healer had you on focus, does that mean you could nuke yourself? /MindBlown
