View Full Version : Low FPS - Is it the hardware, or should I start scanning?

Hey, so I'm about to start 5-boxing, just got all the accounts set up and started all the wow's up, etc... And I was getting like 20 fps on my main window with all the graphics turned down, on all of them!

So i ran one copy, and noticed I'm getting 30fps in Kara (where I am ATM)
I know 10 people's spells at max graphics slow it down, but to 30 FPS?
I expect more from my rig, so I think somethin's messed up...

Specs:

MoBo: Intel "Bad Axe" D975XBX
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6700
Graphics: EVGA nVidia 8800GT 512MB
RAM: 3.24GB (damn XP) Crucial DDR2 PC2-5300
(I'm probably forgetting something...)

Anyways, so, is it just some hardware that needs upgrading, or should I start scanning for malware?

Thanks,
-MB

Yer system seems fine...might wanna consider disabling noncrucial addons(or multiple dmg meters, only one char needs it) on the alts, turn down the graphical settings & resolution on the alts(or possibly up, as that's what happened with me...3x 1024x768 windows = baaaad lag, 3x 1280x1024 windows maximized to match my desktop res = juuuuust fine)

However, you should be scanning for virii and malware/spyware often regardless, wow performance killer or not it's not a good thing to have and leaves your computer available as a zombie for remote DDoSes(lolz exaggerated example) and other such crap; keep 'er clean
