So i tried reading the guides in the new user section but the links were down or maybe not working for me. Im not sure.

However, I do think I have a bit of a unique situation. Please bear with me.

My roommates and I run 5 man dungeon raids alot. Recently, one of our roommates had to quit playing due to some real life stuff going on. I took over the other account and am trying to box 2 characters at the same time in dungeons and also out grinding/leveling. The accounts are set up with the RAF so keeping them together is a must. they are also on 2 seperate machines. My desktop runs one account, while my laptop runs the other.

Im also new to WOW so im still learning the classes and how to play and what not. here are some stats though.

1 toon is a level 45 paladin spec'd in retribution only. the other is a level 45 demonology spec'd Warlock.
When playing, I control the warlock mostly and move the paladin with a simple follow focus macro. I also use a simple assist focus macro with a startattack to have him attack our tanks target (the pally isnt our tank btw). then I manually move the pally to the target and let him start slashing.

Meanwhile, I have about 6 different macros setup for the warlock that are tied to function keys that are keybound to the right action bar (the vertical bar on the right side of the screen).
They are in this order
F1 - assist "tank" (to target the same enemy as my tank)
F2- petattack (sends my voidwalker to start attacking target)
F3-corruption (cast DOT)
F4-curse of agony (another DOT)
F5-Immolate (another DOT...mostly optional)
F6-shoot (start attacking with my wand)
attacking a target goes sorta like this: F1, F2, F3, F4, the F6 sometimes ill cast F5. Just one function button press after another.

So here is what I am wondering. Is there a simpler macro that would do all that for the warlock, so that I can move the paladin while all the DOTs and stuff are casting? If I could do with one button what 5 or 6 does that would be great and free up more time to control the paladin and actually use some of his judgements and such.

Also, if there are any other options or ideas as to better box these 2, I am open to suggestions. I am just really new at this and have no idea what any of it means.

Well, first up, account sharing is just begging Blizzard to ban both accounts. As a multiboxer, even a dual-boxer, you're likely to get reported every now and then, and just about the first thing that'll get looked at is whether the account names match. If they dont....it's ban-hammer time (as a number of recent threads here attest to).

As to the attack sequence you laid out, you can use what's called a "castsequence" macro, which would in your case look like this:

/castsequence Corruption, Curse of Agony, Immolate

You could bind that to a single key and just keep pressing that key to advance to the next spell cast. As to the use of assist, you could preface each of the Paladins spellcasts/attacks with a "/assist focus" so you didn't have to keep hitting your F1 key. You can use a reset function as well in castsequence to have it automatically reset back to the start after a given period of time like this:

/castsequence [reset=10] Corruption, Curse of Agony, Immolate

That'd be a pretty basic setup, a kind of crude one to be sure, but a step up from what you're using.

Ultimately though, the tools exist now to, with only a small expense, configure what's called a "focusless" setup, allowing whichever character you play from to be automatically assisted by the other character. Furthermore, other techniques called "Click to Move" and "Interact With Target" (CtM and IwT respectively) allow you to get melee characters to move in and attack targetted mobs (or interact with targetted NPC's as well). All of these techniques have many other powerful functions as well.

To do this, you'd be looking at something like Innerspace/ISBoxer (see the links at the top of these forums) and an add-on called Jamba (useful for follow strobing for melee characters amongst many other things).

As to which classes to box, for duel-boxing there's a few basic strategies you may consider:

1. Tank/Healer: dual-box a tank (paladin, warrior, druid or DK - paladin will be easist) with a "pocket healer". This would mean you'd only look for 3 friends to supply DPS roles for 5-man dungeons.

2. DPS/DPS - two dps - if you make them the same class, a la 2 mages say, you'll greatly simplify your efforts, almost completely eliminating all macros (save for some /assists). Has PvP potential as well.

There's free software available you could install to broadcast your keystrokes from your main pc to the secondary, though using a second PC for dual-boxing is usually un-necessary, since most any machine that can run 1 WoW client, can run 2. The better software (in my personal opinion) is the paid-for stuff and well worth the expense.

Hey thanks for the response!! The accounts were actually set up in my name to begin with, so I am ok on that front.

I tried the cast sequence but I didnt get it to work properly. I tried it with reset installed and had it typed in the macro like so:
/castsequence [reset=10] Corruption, Curse of Agony, shoot

I left off Immolate as I dont use it that much. But if thats right I should have hit the keybound button 3 times for each of those spells to cast right? And if so, is there a way to add the /petattack at the beginning as well so that i hit it 4 times to make the void walker attack, cast corruption, cast curse of agony then shoot the wand?

We are currently in a dungeon but when we are done I am going to look at software options and see if I can make heads or tails of one and get it to help me a little.

My PC can run 2 instances with no problem. Its just easier using 2 machines since I am doing it mostly manually.

Just to clarify:

Well, first up, account sharing is just begging Blizzard to ban both accounts.

The key word here is SHARING. Just thought I'd clear that up.

Now for dual boxing I suggest:

a) get keyclone, it's $20, lifetime license, does what it says on the tin, can use up to 5 accounts per computer (you need 2 licenses for 2 comps so if your computer can handle 2 instances use it).

b) I suggest levelling hybrids, personally I would go with either Pally/shammy or pally/druid but whatever you like really, anything is possible (except gnomes). Reason is, if you roll a gnome mage and you get bored of frost, you respec to... another DPS talent. And you're still short.

c) use the search button, I still use it and it has a wealth of information.

d) use the search button, I still use it and .....hehe ;)

Thanks for the response :D :D

I should have clarified better in my first post. There is / was no account sharing. My friends account is totally different from the 2 I am running. When I said I took over his account, I should have said I used my 2nd account to take his spot in our raid group. He has his account in his name and I have 2 in mine. That should be ok right?

Ill check out the software you mentioned. The pally/warlock combo is just what I have right now, but I will be making another combo very shortly I think.

And I did use the search. The links in the guide I found were dead. Hence, why I posted my question. :D

As for the gnome thing... does this apply to warlocks as well?? or just mage's?

/castsequence [reset=10] Corruption, Curse of Agony, ImmolateThat has a syntax error, do NOT bracket reset conditionals. I don't know why.

My spammable macro for my warlock follower goes something like this:

/Click MultiBarRightButton1
/Click MultiBarRightButton2
/Click MultiBarRightButton3
/Click MultiBarRightButton4
/Click MultiBarRightButton5
/Click MultiBarRightButton6

#showtooltip skinning
/cast [@focustarget,dead,nocombat,nochanneling] skinning

#showtooltip Haunt
/castsequence [@focustarget,nochanneling] reset=3 Haunt,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
/use 13 [combat]
/use 14 [combat]

#showtooltip Corruption
/castsequence [@focustarget,nochanneling] reset=3 Corruption,Null

#showtooltip Curse of Agony
/castsequence [@focustarget,nochanneling] reset=3 Curse of Agony,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,

#showtooltip Unstable Affliction
/castsequence [@focustarget,nochanneling] reset=3 Unstable Affliction,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

#showtooltip Shadow Bolt
/cast [@focustarget,nochanneling] Shadow Bolt
I don't use shoot in my macros, as I have yet to get it to function as I wish, if I use /cast shoot or /cast !shoot it still seems to turn on and off.
Gnomes comment was for #1 ugly, #2 short (seems to get hung up on unseen terrain obstacles, #3 he suggested running hybrid classes for more options, and gnomes cannot be hybrids atm.

Ahh, too true - I bracketed the wrong bit (when I was using a focused setup, I had target conditions in there, which do need to be bracketed).

Apologies for the oversight. Hopefully Solon's extensive macro reply hits the spot for you.

Why do those macros all have nochanneling in them? None of them seem to be channelled spells.

Also I really love your use of corruption, null. An excellent solution to a problem I'd been having trying to set up rotation on my lock yesterday!

I'd guess, there might be channeling spells on other keybinds, which aren't part of the default sequence.
By including nochanneling in the spam, the spam won't interfere with Drain Soul or Drain Life.

Either that, or its just being cautious, as nochanneling doesn't really hurt anything.
And you never know when you'll include a spell which utilizes channeling.

Ualaa has it right, I have other buttons for my channeled spells, and I may want to be spamming my DPS key for the rest of my team while channeling.
