I have been boosting a team of Shammies without RAF and I am finding it slow. I am now thinking that it might be faster to just run a new team from scratch without the boosting. I am boosting with another shaman so maybe a change in class of the booster is what is lacking?

A pally boosting is a glorious thing so if you plan on several teams without raf then levelling a pally sooner than later will speed up things in the long run.

Very soon after I levelled my first 5 box team (shamans) a few years ago (before raf) I levelled a pally on its own soon after as I realised a proper tank was needed for heroics. This pally has gone on to boost all the other teams I play and speeded up team levelling tremendously.

If I had my time over the pally would be the first thing I'd level before starting on any teams as that first shaman team took an age to level.

EDIT: Having said all that a DK or Druid booster will probably be just as good...I just love pallies! :)

Raylion speaketh much truth there.

Boosting, especially without RAF, only works if you can go really fast through the dungeons and to do that it's (imho) Druid or Paladin time. Personally I prefer Paladins, though I had a Druid friend boost me once through parts of SM and he was able to do each wing in only 2 pulls.

Dunno about DK's but Paladins and Druids will boost far faster than any other class.

Well, no matter how great your gear, you still can't go faster than 12 minutes per clear; well, you can, but you just end up sitting around waiting for the instance limit to reset. I'm currently in a huge boosting binge using my druid and I highly reccomend an addon called LootAndReset. It's a little old, and has some bugs, but it does help a lot with getting an idea as to how long until you can reset and reenter without having to sit outside an instance. It also lets you reset instances with a right click which does streamline things a bit.

As for booster, I'd reccomend against a DK since the runes tend to limit how much you can do to kill mobs. Death and Decay has a long cooldown no matter how you look at it compared to Swipe and Consecrate and I found my DK to be significantly slower than my druid even in SFK. You also lose the ability to rez a slave if they happen to get aggro and die.

just wondering if youre killing the mobs with your totems? i heard that when you just nuke them with nova they dont count for xp

nova counts as a kill. letting the totem do it on its own, doesnt.

Right, so I drop a magma totem and then nuke with nova. Still a cumbersome process. So time to level a Pally or druid. Thanks mucho!

Nova is a spell now not an individual totem (it comes off any fire nova totem you set down), is probably your cause for confusion.

boosting or not, i'd rather spoon out my eyes than get another group to 80 without raf again

It's not nearly so bad any more. Since RAF only goes 1-60 anyway, the only boost is to Azeroth - and that's been nerfed repeatedly now to the point that leveling up in Azeroth is an easy, kill-quest only romp. So, ok, not going 1-60 in 12 hours without RAF, but it doesn't take weeks any more either.

Now, if RAF went out to 80, I'd sign up for the extra accounts in a heartbeat.

@Kromtor /agree

It took me 360 hours of gaming to get to 80 with my team. No boosting, no main. Mind you I also leveled 4-5 professions during this process.
