So I have played a bit of PVP in the past with 2 boxing and 5 boxing and I want to make sure I am translating the 1v1 strats over to 5v-many.

When running a 5 man team in one of the PVP battle grounds... what are the different strats used? Just park at a flag an kill anyone who comes your way? Do you try and be mobile and fight on the run?

It depends on your composition.

Generally, more in the middle is a better position then at the flag.
You can certainly guard the flag, or go for the flag.
But play in the middle, to intercept them coming out with your flag, and to support your flag carrier is probably better.

It depends on the battle ground.
In a lot of them, people will follow your team around and that will cause a loss, no matter what you do.

Caster teams, generally park themselves a short ways off, and DPS from a far.
Melee teams move into the action and take the fight to whoever.

Against most solo opponents, they have no chance.
The true test of your team, is how you do against a larger group.

Just make yourself usefull to the team. Since if you start ganking uselessly and other join you it's a lost game.

eots: just rush bases and cap them. once capped, just leave the base, to bad if nobody defends it, if you lose it you can run back and recap it. Just waiting there is wasting time.

AB: same as eots, start to BS, rush to ST/Farm then rush run around assisting people, having BS as a primary target can be nice, so your slaves always are somewhat close.

AV: i defend @ IB/TP chokehold, depending on timers i recap TP, often i just leave it and go FW GY, and FW towers/relief GY(GY = important!!). And defend those. Often screws up their offense and by the time they recovered and managed to get past me and assault a tower or GY our assault won.

WSG: let someone else carry the flag, escort him. try to get a healer to escort him. As soon as you see the enemy FC and you think your FC will make it alive to the flagroom. Go all out on the enemy FC and gank him.
repeat.

Sota: sucks. just help/kill demo's.

ilse of afkness sucks. If alliance caps a base and can get into the fortress i defend inside the fortress to avoid bombing from inside.

Great stuff. So would you say that AB and EOTS fit best with a 5 man team then? I am running 4 hunters and a Shammy FYI.

I tried a WSG and got frustrated when one of my boys went down trying to get the team back together took a lot of work. At the time I was running off of a master / slave set up so if my "Head" died I was SOL. Having the GYs near where you are fighting seems like a easy win.

always a problem using follow. Many people drift to a FTL system where swapping toons makes the new toon the leader and follow/assist is automagical. Another reason IS is #1 as it is built in the wizard setup. Other software will also set the FTL , some easy and some really hard.

I think EOTS is the best boxer BG. Allthough you have to be carefull with Thunderstorms and Typhoons off ledges.

I love AV aswell, but i don't know what gear your hunters have. My shaman have 1,3k resi, 29k hp unbuffed, which definitely helps dealing with bigger groups.

My boys are just now hitting 73 and are under geared so PVPing with a hope of having some of them live through an encounter is a ways off.
