Personally I'm leveling tailoring on about 25 toons.
Leveling a 5th shaman for pvp
Hitting 1 million gold.

Started a DK team, to add five more alchemists.
Going to try for at least 75th, for every alchemist, in the hope that 75 is high enough for the new (525) skill cap.

Considering leveling (or finishing to level): a blacksmith and a leatherworker (already have a couple tailors) for Cataclysm epic item combiness. Also thinking about more jewelcrafters, for faster acquisition of the new epic gem cuts... assuming they add new cuts, which is likely with the skill cap raising. Would not mind having a maximum level enchanter (purely for disenchants) on each of my teams that will hit 85th; only have one 450 enchanter on my three teams at 80th.. the other two are in the 350-400 range.

Still planning/tinkering with the Feral druids macros and mapped keys. I'm thinking on the best method for two different round-robin effects to advance together, when either is executed... It might also be an idea to actually finish leveling the druids before Cataclsym too.

A million gold would be nice, but I'm not farming heroics, so 500k is a more reasonable gold goal for me.

I'm doing about nothing special at all. I keep in mind that it could be nice to have some more gold by then and swift flyers, that's about it.

* Moved my PvE/PvP Primary Team back to being Paladin + 4 Elemental Shamans.
* Put Leatherworking/Skinning on my last Shaman
* Clean out most of my Guild Bank and characters banks.
* Aim for 500k Gold by release. 400k to go, I have to stop buying random crap all the time.
* Finish my Priest from 70-80
* Level up a Death Knight to I have another PvE Team: DK, Priest, Druid, Mage, Warlock
* Put Tailoring/Alchemy on DK/Druid/Priest if I can be bothered

Personally I'm leveling tailoring on about 25 toons..

why is that? i assume for cooldowns, but which ones (not long in the game/crafting industry enough to see the use)?

I'll assume for whatever the cooldown type cloth is, in Cataclysm.
The equivalent of Spellweave/Ebonweave.

Leveling... lol.

5xPaladin team is now 62 (and a half...woot). I REALLY want to gear them up before Cata comes out, so if Cata doesn't come out till November or so, that'll be just fine by me.

Also, silently praying that Jafula does all that work on his Jamba mod which is an awesome multiboxer mod. Props to you. :-)

- After a reset/expansion i used to be among the very fast levelers in other games. That is if work allows me to take a 1-2 week break. Since I only started to play wow during wotlk, I can only guess how it goes here. But it's for sure one of my interests with the upcoming expansion. The main problem with questing i see is that one has to fight for spawns, and with a multiboxing team it's gonna take even more time (unless the skip every collection quest).

So i'm curious to learn from your experience during earlier expansions:

- were the questlines available upon release (i.e. were thotbott, wowhead updated, ...)
- is running previous expansion dungeons at start an option (i.e. will killing a lvl 81 mob in icecrow give the same xp as a lvl 81 mob in the new zones?)
- is there a lot of debate on various forums going on about the fastest leveling routes?
- will we have clear profession 'guides' on how to boost them to the nex maxlevel? Also.is farming in icecrown a viable option to lvl up mining/herbalism/skinning to a certain extend above 450)
- will there be movies/howto's available about how to clear the new dungeons, and moreover how to box them?

I realize there is no 'ready to go answer' to my questions, but just curious how it was with the release of tbc & lich king.

That's the kind of info i'm going to research for the fast leveling part. And i guess thats depending on the beta (which i have little to no interest to play).

- For my team composition i'll have some leveling to do to be ready for cata. Eventually my make up should look like this

Account A: 80 pally tank (main toon i talk from, buy/sell from him, etc), 80 druid tank, 80 warrior tank, 80 dk tank 80 ele shaman, 59 rogue twink
Account B: 80 ele shaman (main raiding toon), 80 druid, 80 dk, 80 lock, 80 warrior, 59 rogue twink
Account C: 80 ele shaman, 80 priest healer, 80 lock, 80 mage, 80 warrior, 59 rogue twink
Account D: 80 ele shaman, 80 dk, 80 lock, 80 hunter, !80 pally healer, 59 rogue twink
Account E: 80 resto shaman, 80 dk, 80 lock, 80 warrior, 59 rogue twink

So eventually i'll end up with 23 lvl 80s.
Having a tank of each sort on my main, and have a least a healer/melee/ranged on each slave.
20 of them are alchemists (15 done so far)
Need to level up an engineer and inscription to cover all profs.
Each 'team' will have at least 1 enchanter and 1 gatherer.
Considering after the OP to fill the rest with tailors, as it's pretty cheap and fast to level those up.
The idea is to lvl first my main team to 80 asap. And then alternate the alts to 85 so i can play in rested time.

- Goldwise i should be ready to jump into cata as we speak. I'm way too cheap to do big expenses. I have only epic flying on my miner, every time i'm about to buy it i change my mind since i don't find it worth it. However with the ability to fly in the old world, its something i'll have to do on all toons. With the 4-5k a day i currently make, it should be pretty easy to affort all best BoE's for my tanks and main team when they become available in cata. I don't have any amount of gold in my mind however.

- Computerwise i'm awaiting the hardware requirements and how well cata will run under wine on linux. The outcome will either make me having to upgrade my machine significantly (if not going all the way), or tuning some of the other machines i have here and change to a complete hardware boxer. Either way i'll have to rewrite my xdotoo script from scratch and ad more functionality, as it's one big mess for now. If for one or another reason i'm no longer able to play wow on linux, i'll just move on to a new game.

I prefer questing to instances, for leveling. But that is a preference thing.
Questing in the new zones is a very frustrating experience, for the first couple of weeks, unless you race and get ahead of curve.
There will be quest stacking guides, from people in the beta; one-boxing, I'd say the stacking guides are worthwhile but boxing, I'm not sold on their use.

With a pretty good group, instances are pretty close (speed wise), plus there is no collections or competition for mobs.
Even if you can only do trash initially, until someone figures out how to box the first boss, it is an option.

PvP was not a leveling option, until very recently. It is interesting to note, the brackets are all x0 through x9 now, so 80th will be the lowest level in their bracket for all BG's. Not sure how fast PvP will be, in relation to Quests/Instances, but I'd think it will be a bit slower.

In both BC and WotLK, there was an experience multiplier added. I would assume Cataclysm will be the same. Basically a level 58 mob in Outland is worth more then a level 58 in Western Plaguelands. Same deal with 68's being worth more in Northrend then the same level in Outland.

x8 always seems to be the minimum level to take quests in the new regions, with rewards being very strong, especially if your toon has recently made maximum level. I know they want to give everyone tank level health, so I'd imagine 85th greens being better then iLV 200 gear.

As far as profession guides, I've not seen many out at release, but if you go with orange/yellow recipes, they're not that hard to figure out. Most of the gathering guides, have you gain 20-30 points in the older content before moving to the new stuff.

If you have the gold for epic flight, I'd really consider it. It speeds up leveling time, by a large margin.

For the first one month, the waiting time for me was like 30 mins to 1 hour per toon. By the time, when all 3 of my chars are login, my play time is up or left about 30 mins to play that is base on the beginning of the previous expansion in Blackrock server.

Even on single char loging the queue is very long wait.

I'm finishing up all the stuff that I think might be endanger of not being there after Cataclysm, lol. Going to try and do my Loremaster before some things are gone.

Also finishing up a lot of things I've been working on for ages. Finally got the Time Lost Proto Drake and Razzashi Raptor last weekend AND the right binding for Thundarian all in one day. All I got to farm mountwise is the Tiger from ZG.

Finished my 'The Insane' title this weekend.

Rep farming with all the old factions and Achievements. Got my Bloody Rare done this weekend also, lol.

Not going to be much left for me to do but save $$ and do the daily heroic and even that is losing desire since the gear will be replaced so quickly in Cat.

LOL that's the truth. Been very nice to my wife this year, and will continue to be. Then when it comes out, Maybe, just maybe she will let me buy them all at once.

Game wise, I'm finishing up leveling all my alts to 80, Plan is to have 50-60 toons ready to go. Well more like 45-55, as I'll keep a spot open for the Worgen.

As Cata approaches, my goals are:
1) to continue to push my 3 10-box teams into more bosses in ICC (at least through Rotface)
2) complete some professions for the 5-6 toons above that don't have professions maxxed
3) level up another team of 5 from 70 to 80 to give myself options for 10-boxing team tweaks - 1 pally, 2 priests, 2 mages

- Getting proffs up on all of them

That's the kind of info i'm going to research for the fast leveling part. And i guess thats depending on the beta (which i have little to no interest to play)
From previous experience, what I would expect to see is:

- Sites like Wowhead and Thottbot will have lots of info on quests from day one, mostly from beta but filling up quickly as players rush to try the content. There will be gaps and some bad info, but I figure most of it will be useful.
- "New" mobs will give much more exp per kill, close to 2x or so. Grinding or questing in old zones will not be as efficient from a per-kill or per-quest perspective. However, it might be more efficient during the early rush, since the extra exp per kill is not useful when there is nothing left to kill.
- I've yet to see any discussion of the best leveling route, but I figure there will be some once the open beta is available. I'm sure there will be a mad rush to be the first level 85 on each server.
- Profession guides should be updated within a few days/weeks of release, using beta info mostly.
- You should be able to get your gathering professions most of the way to max in WotLK zones, though it won't be terribly efficient. Still, Rich Saronite veins are yellow at 450 and Titanium veins are orange, and those should provide a fair number of skill-ups. It will be a lot faster to level up in the new zones, especially once the mad rush of farmers slows down.
- Info on dungeons and bosses will probably be spotty and unreliable for a few days/weeks, but it will fill up in time.

I figure we'll see videos here pretty fast, multiboxing seems to have gone to a whole new level with this expansion.

lvl 80 teams
My pala + 4 shamans team is all in T9 or better gear.
My warlocks team has been just geared with pvp gear except the weapons and trinkets... something I will sort this weekend.

lower level teams
my lvl 70 druids team will level to 80 as soon as I finish my warlocks team gearing and icecrown quests with them.
my priests team is waiting for the druids team
my mages team is waiting for all the other teams

So far the teams will have the following uses:
pala + 4 hamans --> pve
5 shamans --> pvp/pve
5 warlocks --> pvp
5 druids --> pvp/pve Aiming for an useless arena team with 5 resto druids just to piss people off being unable to kill me.
5 priests --> dunno, could be fun in pve and could use these as healers for some content where resto shamans don't cut it.
5 mages --> pvp

I'm not planning anything big, but I do intend to level up some teams if I have the time. Currently working on a priest and four mages, all of them with jewelcrafting and alchemy as professions. If I can get them leveled up in time I'll see if I can make some gold before the xpac goes live. Additionally, if I can get them to 80 before then, I may try to level up another team so that if any other professions seem to be potential early money-makers, I can take those as well.

But I'm not sure if I want to level up another team before the expac, because it will probably be a lot more fun to level up a team or two in the new zones and with the new quests. My long term goal is to have at least four or five characters at max level of any profession that creates stuff, so that I can take advantage of any opportunities as they appear, as well as having a bunch of characters that I can run as either mixed or homogeneous groups.

Anyone else planning anything big?

* Alts, alts, and more alts. In the process of a RaF boosting binge that I actually plan to finish this time. when I'm done I will have 10 characters on 5 accounts, and maybe 5 on the sixth account. I think it's around 40 characters or so.
* Gold, gold, and more gold. Everything is expensive when a new xpac comes out, so it would be nice to have money to take advantage of auction house fun, new mounts, and other things that depend on having piles of gold.
* Professions. Making sure I have at least one 450 in every profession, and making sure my main teams have all the professions they need.
* Gearing. Yes, gearing. Making sure that my main teams have decent gear to level to 85. I know the gear gets replaced, but having full PvP gear does make dealing with griefers less of an issue. Also makes instance running less of a pain if I end up leveling that route.
* Last chance things. Lower on my list, but I'd like to poke some of the things I won't be able to poke after they break the world. Thunderfury, Sulfuras, and the like would be nice.
* Clean banks and stock up on mats. Chances are I won't need those pages of the Stranglethorn book, so best to use them or vendor them. Also make sure I have bags and other lowbie items for any Worgen I might be leveling.
* Take a break. After I get all the boosting and levelign done, I figure I'll take a break so I'm not burnt out before the real fun starts.

I was planning on leveling professions on multiple toons but I dont want to waste the money if the 'new' cata skill ups for professions will cost 1/2 the amount and time.

currently just running heroics/making money.. seems I got all I need, I plan to do some old world stuff. finish up achieves before stuff is taking out of game. (not a big fan of doing achievements) since I have had several diff mains but roomie likes to. (got the tiger mount on a inactive level 70 =/ isnt fair. and 310 proto from ulduar on inactive toon)\

anyone else planning on waiting for cata professions to skill up?
what about the new profession that will be available.. stocking supplies for it..if needed? (archeology?)

They said a lot of the old world will be changed, regardless.
So some instances flat out, will no longer be there.

They also said they'd make a lot more use out of phasing.
But if you're in a group, everyone will be in the same phase.
Hopefully that means follow won't break, but it probably still will.

No you cannot, the world will still change even if you don't upgrade. You won't be able to play Goblins/Worgren or the new race/class combinations, or level past 85, etc. But the world will still be remade in Deathwing's own image.

Trying to hit 80th on the Druid team, now that all the transmute toons are 68+.
They're 75th-77th now, so shouldn't have an issue with that.
Wouldn't mind leveling some of the transmute teams up from 68th to say 73rd or 75th, but don't think I have the time for that.

Well.. have my 34 daily transmutes, using them for gems.
Basically doing nothing else, as far as gold generation goes.
And averaging 4,500g a day, for the transmute + gem cuts.

With what I've got... if Cataclsym is Oct/Nov, that'll put me in the 800k range.
So a million is probably out of reach.
But with an alchemy transmute material, I'll be in decent financial shape for the next expansion.

Mid June, through mid September, I do seasonal work.
So my online time will be severely diminished.
Pretty much going to do transmutes, cuts, re-list items.. and that's about it.

But a recharge is good too.
The game is always fresher and more fun, after the summer vacation from it.
And Cataclysm should be out shortly after returning, which will be nice too.

Going to have 45-50 toons at lvl 80.

Maxing out Tailoring/Enchanting/JC on 15 toons each.

PvP team at 80, geared, and profs done.

And hopefully, 500k in the bank.

Epic flyers for main PvE and main PvP teams.

Should be doable before Cata. As far as release date goes, put me down in the office pool for NOVEMBER 14th.

I have other things I'd like to get done, such as clearing all the old world instances, etc, etc. But the biggies are at the top.

Slowly levelling my 4th and 5th account mains to 80 (mage at 62, hunter at 73). Then it's a ton of heroic farming to get 5 sets of Shammy BoAs, transferring 4 shammies over to join up with the one already on my main's realm, then levelling them as far as possible before cata, at which point (hopefully, if Bliz aren't ****holes on the whole race change to new races matter) they'll become goblins.

Of course having just started playing EVE hasn't helped, and then there's the whole Portal 2/HL2:3 itch I'm getting.
