Melee gear upgrades

I have had the Titansteel Destroyer on my pallys for some time now.. :(

seems no 5 mans have better upgrade.
getting into a pug/buying axe from Marrow is a meh because no achieve (my server fails and wont inv unless u have every achieve in the world) and if I am going to buy... why not buy the hilt?
but.. 4 hilts gets costly...
so guess the question is peeps who bought hilts... was it worth it?
and if not to buy hilts what to do?

edit.. there is the slight up grade of Tyrannical Beheader... but I am not sure if I can do that yet.(havent tried lolz)

Hilts are more expensive than getting the ones from marrowgar. If your server still requires every fucking acheive when ICC has a 15% buff then your server is garbage.

it is... my full ulduar hard mode geared priest with 310 drake got questioned into daily 10man maly.... people are so fckn retarded on my server. (hence the boxing)

I never did more in ICC then marrowgar and i really can't be bothered since on Grim Batol you seem to need achievs etc aswell. Pve isn't my thing anyway :)

This axe is actually quite a bit of an upgrade over the titansteel destroyer. Sure it's not the best thing in the game by far but if you have no other options it would be worth the time to get even if you have to run pugs to get it.

I never understood why people bought hilts when you can farm them relatively easily multiboxing. Just use the dungeon finder enter PoS and kill trash. Then click on the dungeon finder icon on your minimap-teleport out of dungeon- reset all instances-teleport back to dungeon.

It allows you to farm PoS while you're anywhere and using my method I never have hit the entered too many instances message either. So I just pop in PoS in between waiting for things- such as the random dungeon cooldown. Have farmed over 10 of them not really trying THAT hard.

Since my hilt was free it was totally worth it :) Otherwise I believe there's a decent (232) 2 hander off Scourgelord Tyrannus.

Dunno about your server, but on my server....

Hilt = 9k

byrnhold in a gdkp = about 5-10k depending (and this weapon is sooooooo much better than a hilt)

bloods off fester and rot = maybe 1-2k each, plus about 18k for the 25 primordial saronites. Will get you shadow's edge.


Screw hilts and just get into a gdkp or two would be my advice. It's by far the simplest and best way to gear up toons you actually care about, and gold is a joke for boxers. The other thing is that gdkps don't care if you have 4k gs if you just put 100k in the trade window.

I bought several hilts myself, I've used about 12 of them so far. They used to be the best in slot but now they are just good. I did it on toons that I can't raid on like my 5x pally team, etc. It was expensive but I have 18 level 80s to work with... 12 days and I have 18 PS to sell, it wasn't that bad. per say I've put most of my guys in crafted 264 boots/legs and hilts. I wasn't impressed with any of the set bonuses so none of my guys have any T10 sets.

Personally I wish I hadnt but thats because I dual spec my paladins holy and a good holy weapon is far harder to obtain than a good melee weapon

I mean marrowgar can be boxed and Citadel Enforcer's Claymore drops in 10 and Bryntroll, the Bone Arbiter in 25

to find an upgrade to the holy version of the hilt reward you are looking at Rotface and the Lich King unless you can persuade your raid that rolling on items with Spirit or hit is ok for a holy paladin.
