View Full Version : mele dps
i m wanting to put my 5300+ gs rogue into my rotaion and switch up my tank form pally to my druid keeping 2 ele shams and one resto for the rest of the group makeup. How are people using melee dps setup macros or a spam button that works with the iwt button. I have never tried a melee dps in my group before. Any help would be great !
Thanks

You'll want CTM (Click to move) enabled for any melee toons.
Basically press your IWT (Interact With Target) keybind, to move the toon into melee.
In general, you won't want to spam this, as doing so will cause the toon to run about in an uncontrolled manner as it constantly tries to move towards the target; in pvp, you'll have to spam otherwise the toons won't stay in melee range, but sporadic presses are more ideal for pve.
I will sometimes press it only once, to get the toons into melee range, and once they are there spam it along with my dps castsequence button.
Once the toon is stationary and in melee range, IWT doesn't seem to cause the chicken with the head cut off syndrome, but the spammed key will keep the target in range should they move.
You'll want some kind of a castsequence for the rogue, so you can spam that one key which will have the Shammies do their thing as the Pally does her 96969 macro too.
The resto can break follow a little ways from the combat (with the shammies).
Wild Growth will likely only hit the tank+rogue or the shammies+druid, so decide on how you'll handle aoe/splash damage when the group is in two places.

Before I started multiboxing I played a rogue for several years before rolling a pally about a year ago. Leveled 4 druids to go with my pally and now 5 box them.
Recently I have also been throwing my rogue into the mix with really great results. Thing about rogues are to get the most out of their abilities you must be mobile... Especially assassination/sub specced ones. Combat is your best option imho since it requires the least amount of movement.
For macros I have some very crude stuff going on, lol... But it works for me. I have a few finishing moves on other keys but it's pretty tough monitoring your slaves combo points. When I put too many finishing moves into the attack macros they had a tendency to get hung up when no combo points were available.
ATTACK MACRO 1:
/castsequence reset=combat Sinister Strike(Rank 12),Sinister Strike(Rank 12),Slice and Dice(Rank 2)
ATTACK MACRO 2:
/castsequence reset=combat Kick,Sinister Strike(Rank 12),Sinister Strike(Rank 12)
DPS BOOST:
/castsequence reset=combat Blade Flurry,Adrenaline Rush,Evasion(Rank 2)
Basically I spam attack 1&2 which are linked to my Tanks 2 main tanking keys and druids 2 main DPS keys. There's room for a lot of improvement I am sure but it works.
I also have my rogue on an imdependent follow macro so I can position my druids and keep him following. Then I just engage target- hit his IWT button and go to town.
