View Full Version : [WoW] Confessions ...

My confession: So, I have been playing WoW (on and off) since it was released and until 5 minutes ago, I have NEVER had a max level character! I just dinged my first level 80. Woot!
I got a character up to level 59.5 before my account expired and I shifted to London. In London, I got 5 toons to level 78 (and wrote Jamba) before I shifted back to New Zealand. I wish I could transfer my toons from EU to US. I miss my shamans.
In case you haven't realised I'm a casual player. :) Anyway. Woot!
Anyone got any similar shame worthy confessions that want to share?

That's great Jafula! You helped so many of us eae our leveling experience, you certainly deserve to be hitting max level yourself.
As thefunk hinted at, you can now finally start playing Wow2.0 - the 50%+ of the game designed for level 80s. Have fun!

hehe my confession? I'm absolutely rubbish at this game. I read merc and others clearing through heroics and such and find myself 2 hours in still wiping on a couple of bosses in drak normal. Back when I was soloing I would lose track of the people to heal during kara runs and hid behind the fact I was No1 healer on recount (thankfully no-one asked about overhealing)

Very nice! I too am a casual player that started out day 1 with only a slight break in the whole run. My main Char is only 71. Funny my DK team is now 72.
Wish I could shift around like you. New Zealand would be a nice change of scenery.

Congrats! it is always nigce to hit that max level. i remember when I did it with my first toon. I had played many different MMORPG's before and had never done it. My now ex wife never understood my interest in games, and I inevitably always had to quit a game to keep her happy before I hit that top level. it was odd, after my divorce I started playing wow and it took over a year to hit top level, maybe even two years, I can't remember. But when I did I had a sense of accomplishment that made me wonder if I had been allowed to do it on the other games I had played that I might have been able to relax in the ammount of time played after getting there and thus not pissing off the wife as much, but that is doubtful.
Right now, I have three lvl 80 toons that I have leveled up traditionally, and have a 65-66 team of 5 shaman.
Grats again!!

gratz Jaf!
I sort of did that. I played Wow from, i dunno. launch-ish til BC (solo, and occasionally dual-boxing), off and on, and never got past 30 somehow. Came back towards the end of BC and 5boxed to 70, and then to 80 fairly promptly when wrath came out; but it was still months after the expansion (wrath) before i did. lol. all my friends were long since 80, and im stil like 75.) Ironically, after that first team, subsequent teams went faster....
I also have to confess, in eq, i did exactly that. I played it for years and years. (dunno, 99 til a few years ago. I hopped back and forth between it, wow, and eq2 quite a bit. oh, theres another game i never got past 30 in. lol... ) and i dont think i was ever level capped. (well, maybe for awhile during planes of power, maybe)
I had a theory for awhile, that i was scared of hitting the cap and getting bored, without the drive to level. Hmm. this theory isnt entirely disproven since I now have 3 full 5 sets of 80 (err, and none of them are the shamans that I got to 70 with at the end of BC, lol) s, and im thinking of taking the druids there next...funny how i keep starting new teams....
hehe. the advantage (or disadvantage, for us procrastinators) to wow is that you cannot level backwards...so persistence = eventually hitting the cap, and going 'now what?' lol. i remain convinced thats the only reason I have more than 1 set of 80s. LOL.

My very first character - a hunter - hit level 20 before I realize that I was supposed to have a pet.
My brother was like "where's your pet?" My what? "pet".........../facepalm

Haha did you also use a sword instead of a bow?
Casual or not, you've made some of the tedious things about boxing simple, making the game more fun for many. This is probably the reason you're just now dingin' an 80. Grats Jaf, and thank you for all your hard work.

What is this level 80 you speak of, eh?
I've been playing since Jan 2005, have dozens of alts, not one over 70. I enjoy the low levels a lot. Since there is no other game I'd rather play I'm in no rush at all.

I like the Vanilla wow content better than expansion content...for some reason. I'm an alt whore. Been playing since launch, and have only had 2 characters at max level. My 60 Paladin before MC / Ony were ever completed by anyone...and then my 70 Warrior a long time after BC came out. I have a 78 DK...and plenty of level 1-30s. That is all...

Lol, congrats! That is a bit surprising as awesome and intuitive as your add-on has been.
For me really I can't stop until I hit max level if that's my goal. I like to concentrate on one character though and make it my main. Even though I run a pally and 4 druid 80 team I still consider my pally my main and invest all my gold into him.

Gratz! and thanks for a a super awesome mod.
I have also played for years now, and my first toon hit 80 only a couple of month ago hehe. But I have a horde lv 53 warrior on Anachronos EU. a 63 Alliance mage on Silvermoon along with a 53 prist. I also have a rouge lvl 33 on a third server....
This is what happens when your IRL friends move around.

Yeh, I might take my time with that one... I'm triple boxing my 80 (pala) and a 78 priest/mage, so I'm going to quest until they are all up to 80.
Casuals ftw :D
Gratz on 80.

Wow, ISBoxer is pretty cool. Definitely worth the effort to get it going. How about making it a goal to spend 1/2 hour trying to get ISboxer working one evening. You can reward yourself with some coffee (well, that's what I would do...).

Yeh, it's hard going, The movement was always the killer for me. Trying to get my toons out of the goo/aoe effect in time so was sooo hard. Still a challenge, eh? And I'm sure your not as bad as you make out. You do know hunters have pets don't you?

Sweet, only 8 more levels. See if you can get them in before Cata!
Shifting around the world was an option I had due to the working holiday agreements between New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Basically you can stay in the country for 2 years, but you are only allowed to work for 1 year. My wife and I left our jobs in NZ, jumped on a plane to London and hoped we would get jobs! Which we did. Very scary, but well worth it for the experience of seeing the other side of the world.
wooot ! congrats jaf! i remember my first ding to 80 like it was yesterday, it involved a fat chick and thats all i can say or else be gettin in trouble from the admins! lol >:)
Ewwww...

How on earth did you level a hunter to 20 without a pet?! 1-10 solo on a hunter is so painful.
Casual or not, you've made some of the tedious things about boxing simple, making the game more fun for many. This is probably the reason you're just now dingin' an 80. Grats Jaf, and thank you for all your hard work.
You're welcome.

Roll some more alts then! Actually, there are some cool quest lines and places to see 70-80. I'd recommend you give it a go sometime (soon).

You onky have 2 levels to go 80 as well on your DK. See if you can beat Norrin's team of 72 DKs to 80.
Speaking of Vanilla wow, I worked with a guy who had a max level 60, but refused to pay for the expansion, because he though his subscription fees should have covered the cost of the expansion and he felt ripped off by having to buy the expansion.
Gratz! and thanks for a a super awesome mod.

I've done that several times; shifting servers to be with real life friends and rolling new toons with them. Probably another reason why I have taken this long to get to max level.

Thanks for the gratz.. It's hard to find a balance between games and wife. I think the movie "White Men Can't Jump" had a similar theme, although it was gambling instead of a gaming addiction.
gratz Jaf!

Thanks, addon development actually takes quite a chunk of time. Plus, you need to have the motivation to carry it on and be careful you don't burn out.
Re: awesome and intuitive addon: I think that good developers are intuitive and don't need to know the whole application domain in order to do a good job. And it's awesome because I wrote it (and it has awesome in its full name)! :p

Grats on the big ding! Like someone mentioned, welcome the the other 50%+ of WoW created for level 80 players :)
Allow me to add my thanks for the awesome addon you have shared with all of us, it takes away so much of the little annoyances that come with questing and leveling up a team. It sounds like you really enjoy the questing yourself and that shows in how many features you've included that make questing faster, simpler and more enjoyable on my team.
