View Full Version : [WoW] Who SERIOUSLY wants a guide to making gold as a boxer?
Shodokan
04-24-2010, 01:53 AM
Full breakdown of every profession with up to date information. Boxer specific aspects etc....
If i get enough yes please then i'll write one over the next few days. Svpr can vouch that some basic tips i gave him help quite a bit. I will not write it in a manner to demean anyone and will go into implicit details and what is best and why. It will all be based on my server's economy but it can easily be translated to other economic models as well (higher, lower prices etc)
If i'm going to spend the time on this, it will be the be all end all of "how to make gold" on this message board. I'll update it once again after every major content patch as well.
But if it will not be used i'm not going to waste 10-12 hours writing step by step instructions and explaining everything in full, just not worth the effort.
So people understand. I don't "try" to make gold other than leveling all my alts. But i pull in around 15k per day or more. I've broken 450+k in less than 2 months. Because of that i'm now paid up for all 5 accounts through december and have hilts for all my toons (including 1 for my prot paladin's alt set, and 4 for shaman yet to be used, and 3 for mages yet to be used)
So how much would people appreciate this type of thing? Instead of having to look through all the gold help blogs and guides all over the place.

Well, am definitely interested in gold and how others make theirs.
There's always room for improvement, or new things to try.

I would read what you have to write and evalute it on what I already do to see if there is room for improvement. If its simple to just have 40 JC's and 40 Alchemists - I dont really consider that anything special. However if your playing several major markets and doing to competively with an advantage from boxing then I'm curious to see your strategy.
As you said, as long as you dont write something that treats people like idiots. I was one of the original people who was not fond of your initial maturity or posting style when your arrived here.

I'm currently at 4k a day without much effort, but making 10k a day takes a lot of effort/luck. So i'm really interested to read up on how to improve that. Though the most important thing for such I guide i believe is that its needs to be scalable i(f you have 40000 transmuters, than someone with 10 should also be able to use it).
I'm really interested on how i can make better use of my blacksmith, leatherworker, tailor, miner, enchanter, ... besides the obvious transmuter & jc'r.

Imo, an exell spreadsheet of a list of mats costs vs AH prices is very simple and might help a lot of people. But i guess i'm not the average player, since i do know my way around the AH and can't say i've read anything new the last couple of months. Would still read it and see if i do find anything new :)

There are no "new" ways to make money, there never really are. It's just using what you get to make the most profit from it (from heroics for example)

In another thread, Svpernova asked a couple of people to not mention specifics regarding in-game gold to people in exchange for game cards. A few people had posted they basically do that, which while not involving actual cash, is still a game currency for something with a real world value.
I always read stuff like that. I love to read how people make their gold. All tips and hits are welcome.Same. I don't always necessarily use their guides step by step but I always learn something and it often helps me improve my own routine.

Hehe I found one of those gold guides online from rapidshare ( I'm not one to pay for them) and what it basically amounts to is to download auctionator Addon and a few maps of minig routes. And they charge $60 for the priviledge (sp?) so my advice is don't bother with them.

I'd love to see a comprehensive guide. with all the tips compliled from all the forums i've read. right now i just make gold doing as many dailies as i can manage before i get burnt out. nets me about 2k a day max.

04-25-2010, 08:57 AM
sure,
I really don't try to make gold myself mostly because I have to have a goal, like getting cycles on all of my toons or getting hilts on all of the. I think making 15k/day would be great when I need the boost to buy something.
I have 5x JC + 5x Alchemy myself, I have 5x tailoring but they nerfed that into worthless so I would only need 3 of them.

I would love a guide as long as it doesnt tell people to make a billion alchemist to succeed. If you can make a guide for a 5 box team that would be great. I am not looking to be the Bill Gates of wow. I just want enough gold to buy what I need.

I would love to see some sort of a guide.
I have an alt who makes Flasks and another who makes Netherweave bags to sell. Both are reasonably competitive markets, but I do OK there. Alchemy goes in spurts, but it's still a consistent money-maker. I manage to fund my repairs/gems/enchants/upkeep costs for my solo + a 5-Box team without dipping in the hole, but I certainly didn't have oodles of cash laying around to buy hilts immediately for the new team, etc etc.
I think I'd *MOST* be interested in seeing some of the best activities to make money that involved actually playing your team and running PvE content. I've heard you comment about making X gold / hour running heroics, but I'd love to see the breakdown of what you're selling/looting/DEing/etc to get there.
I'm not interested so much in maximizing gold/day as I am making a fair amount of gold with my team while still doing something reasonably enjoyable. Farming random heroics is more dynamic to me than grinding the same 20 quests/day...
Is there a daily questing guide that's aimed towards multi-boxers? If not, I'll try to make something reasonably efficient.

It's pretty clear that yes, people DO want a guide to help them make money. I caution people that any such guide will vary by server, you'll have to adapt the strategy to your own server.

Haven't you heard? Alliance is the new horde  Faction transfers ftw! I know tons of my horde buddies switched to Alliance and even some people I disliked went horde! WOOT!
On my server you can't make crap for $$$ horde side. Their auction house is dead and what's in there is so overpriced it just isn't worth it. Funneling goods to the horde auction house from alliance I could probably make a fortune... Too bad i'm so lazy!
But yeah... tons of things i've done and or doing I couldn't do as horde on my server. Like when my team first hit 80 buying them all crafted epics which allowed me to go right into heroics. Uhhmm The Insane title where I got tons of things for it from the AH that would have been impossible hordeside.
Sorry to ramble on here, lol...

Selling (unlimited supply) alliance pets, on the horde AH... is about 8k a month.
Selling (unlimited supply) horde pets, on the alliance AH... is about 500g a month.
Not sure why, the discrepancy.
I do have a single horde team, still rather low level (22nd).
But they have 22k towards their mount fund, thanks to alliance pets and transfering via the neutral AH.

So you sold the gold for cash, to pay for your accounts ? Isn't that a blatant violation of the ToS ?

The second set of rules appy in this instance.
technically, the ingame gold (as everything ingame) belongs to Blizzard, whereas the game code belong to whoever purchased them.
Buying codes with ingame gold is pretty much like buying stuff with someone else's money. I would be pretty surprised if that was allowed..

As this is referring to a Game Card, as in you purchased pre-paid time for a World of Warcraft account — and therefore it is only a real-world currency reference, and are unable to do anything with it in-game — I would recommend avoiding doing this. This could very easily be considered the same thing as purchasing gold for real world currency — as you essentially are.
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=14318878533&pageNo=1&sid=1#8
01/16/2009
Just to reiterate:
Selling time cards for in-game gold is in violation of our Terms of Use and can result in account action up to account closure. Please refrain from participating in such sales and let us know if you witness any such transactions by opening an in-game petition.
Thanks!

Q u o t e:
this guy was spamming in trade "WTB 60 day gamecard 5k gold pst!"
is that allowed in WoW?
This particular transaction would be seen as an exchange of real-world items for in-game currency, something which is currently against the Terms of Use. For reference, the related section of the Terms of Use is available here:

Don't ever cross RL and ingame things, Schubert.
Game Cards are a RL item, ingame gold is well - ingame.
Not to mention this is ripe for scamming.
It is NOT the same as trading the INGAME code for a TCG mount or item
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=17729923754&sid=1&pageNo=1#7
06/10/2009
Q u o t e:
The TCG loot cards have a code (RL code) that is turned into an in-game code when you enter it online. The RL code can't be sold for gold, but the in-game code can be.
The game time cards only have a RL code, no conversion to an in-game code, so that is why they're not allowed yet the loot card in-game code is.
You hit the nail on the head. :)
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=17223062956&pageNo=1&sid=1#12

While unsupported, selling the loot code used in-game to redeem an in-game reward from the collectible card game is not considered in violation of our policies at this time. Selling a gametime code in-game, however, is in violation of our policies as this is not an in-game transaction; please refrain from participating in such transactions.

Regardless of if blizzard supports it or it is blatantly against the terms of service... people get refunded day in and day out for buying faulty time-codes or cd-keys. If it was a bannable offense then those people's accounts would be closed and not have their in game currency reimbursed.
If you all don't feel comfortable doing it, don't.
crowdx
08-20-2010, 01:17 PM
You inferred in your original posts here on the forums when you start boxing that you had been banned before? Correct?Incorrect?
It would seem that your current attitude to the rules or interpretation of the ToS could end in the same way.
It would be a shame to get banned after all the work you have put into your teams.

It's kind of hard to say it works only for TCG mounts, since that "in game code" has value, and gold has a RMT value as well. Blizzard just put a spin on it, really think it out it's all the same shit, different box. In the end -- who the hell really cares? All the QQ and stuff, I would wager money that 90% of this forum is in violation of some sort of TOS breech, naming policy anyone? Stop giving people a hard time just to bust their nuts please, there is really good info in some of these threads.
It´s aginst the TOS and forum rules - so stop writing about it, is that so hard.
Anyone run a team similar to paladin tank, dps shaman, dps mage, dps lock, priest healer? Wondering how fast you guys usually clear heroics. Thx.
