A quick video tutorial breaking down Blizzard's "Recruit-a-Friend" referral system and touching on a few different methods multiboxers look at when setting up multiple accounts. There are probably a few things which some people think are important that are missing. This video ended up being a lot longer than I had anticipated when I first started the project, so a few things possibly got cut. Feel free to add what you think may perhaps be vital to this video. If I think it belongs in the video I will change it. This is for all the new people that come in here asking "hai guyz were do i download the dualbox?", you can just point them to this video instead of flaming them...maybe they'll learn something.

If you're a slow reader YouTube and all other video playback software provide you with the power to pause time.

Great video for a beginner. Should note that the first linking method will allow the most RAF toons to be created as the granted levels count as gained levels so if you're boosting from A you get nearly 60 levels to gift to account A and about 50 to B from the cascading bonus levels. That would allow you to create toons on A and B, boost to 10 and after gifting have two more level 60s with little more effort than the initial boost.

The third method works best if you have a few accounts already as I did when I switched to five. Two accounts I would go: A(runner), B(orig)>C(RAF)>D(RAF)>E(RAF). You could the get a lv 10 on B gifted to 60 and transfered to A with each group if wanted. Three accounts would be: A(runner), B(orig)>D(RAF), C(orig)>E(RAF).

hi,

thanks for the vid. it explains a lot.

The thing which makes me think is:
The recruit cannot grant levels to the recruiter's character if it is equal to or higher than the recruit's character level.

So I if I use X | A>B>C>D (X boosting unlinked, a,b,c,d chain linked) and level them all up to 60 I can grant 30 levels on ANOTHER Toon on account A and B and C and bring that char from 0-30 ? (well obviously you level them the 10 lvls in the noob area so lvl 40)

So the granting makes only sense if you want to level a second team quickly ?

do I overlook something here ?

just looking ahead quick levelling a new team
cheers

Yes, but it's preferred to level them up to 30 and then grant those extra levels since it's quicker to go from 1-30 than it is 30-60.

So the granting makes only sense if you want to level a second team quickly ?To be honest, unless you're willing to pay transfer fees your last account will never receive any "grantable" levels in any of the setups shown in the video. I was just showing how the granting actually works.

No problem, glad it helped. I was surprised when I got an e-mail about a reply to the thread; I can't believe someone dug this up. :)

Fenril, this was a good video. I'm well past the RAF part of multiboxing, but I can see how this will be beneficial to all users.

You have had some great posts lately man.

I watched it and enjoyed it. Very clear... Almost makes me want to grab more accounts to RAF up more teams.. but then I hit the dilemma of paying their subscriptions or $25 per character to xfer...

I did RAF a long time ago when it first came out and have kind of forgotten some of the logistics. I am trying to figure out how I can do another RAF and have the ability to gift levels to a full 5-girl team. In the end I want to have 12 accounts. 1 account for 2 tanks, 5 current accounts for dps healers and 5 new accounts for dps healers. I want the tanks to be on their own account so that each of my toons can participate in dungeons, raids, etc. I would like to 10 box!

Current accounts A B C D E
New accounts F G H I J

If I recruit a new account from say A I would now have one new account.

Then I invite from F then I invite from G, etc

A > F
F > G
G > H
H > I
I > J

From what I understand is you can only gift levels to the account that invited you. So this means I would only have 4 usable accounts that could be gifted. So, I can't really figure out a way to make gifting levels work to insta-level a whole team. I guess it isn't mandatory I am able to do this but it sure would be nice.

I moved my shamans to Kil'Jaeden but it is just way to expensive to move all of my 35. It costs $125 for transfer and $150 for faction change. Times 8?!? ugh, no way. Besides, I do want to experience leveling as Alliance because it is fresh and will get me more familiar with the faction.

In the end I would like to end up with:

Tanks already 80 and heroic geared
Pally Tank (will have to move to Kil'Jaeden)
Druid Tank/Balance (will have to move to Kil'Jaeden)

10 Shamans ele/restro (currently have 5 80s)
9 Druids Balance/restro (10 starfall omg)
5 Rogues (just too much fun even though they are useless)
5 maybe 10 hunters (have the sch basin spirit cat on all 5 so I might transfer 5 and make 5 new ones)
5 Warlocks

I know this is a lot of work but I am looking long term fun here. And of course, 3 months to get them to 60 then from there up to 85. ugh. But I can say for sure it will be worth it because I just had so much fun with my 8 teams on Magtheridon. Well, cept for the mages. I loved them once but they are just too damned squishy.

My RAF is coming to an end pretty soon so I've been wondering about the most efficient way to gift levels as well. I've been able to come up with a couple of different schemes but I'm sure there's a best way to do it that has already been figured out.

With A>B>C>D>E, it's actually getting kind of complicated working with 4-6 teams or 60 considering the toons that you grant levels to can also grant levels. Maybe I'm making it harder than it has to be.

Just thinking quickly off the top of my head without re-watching the video I would say, "Yes, that video tutorial is still up-to-date
except for one thing. At the end where I mention breaking up your B.Net accounts for the ability to log in quicker with a single auth
code, is no longer true. Blizzard has changed it so you can no longer attach one single authenticator to multiple B.Net accounts."

Re-reading that paragraph above, that is probably exactly what I would say.
