My dk+4 rets team is pretty much maxed out as far as non-raiding gear and non-arena pvp gear (although I did get the ilvl 264 2 handers). Had the idea to revive one of my shaman (which I don't box anymore) and go enhancement just for something different.
Used my old rating and points for these http://www.wowhead.com/item=51515 - nice head start. Working on tier 9 and wrathful offset pieces which is going incredibly fast.. like a 3 day casual project. Instant queue as resto in pvp ele gear, carry bad groups easily, good groups go faster.

Anyway, haven't even thought about PVP yet but wondering if anyone has included an enhancement shaman in a melee pve group and what the results were like? Although most of the buffs don't stack/overwrite (except talented strength of earth), bloodlust is nice addition, and I'd be very surprised if the shaman can't pull a hell of a lot more dps than the rets, considering how mediocre they are. Either way, sounds fun.

I really like enhancement in pve so far so even if it doesn't work with the team I might play solo. But any feedback would be appreciated.

That's my 5's team. It's the same comp Zug is running except I lead with the DK instead of the Warrior.

For instances the DPS increase on trash mobs is noticeable compared to DK+4 Rets and the DPS on boss fights is ridiculously better. Wolves+Bloodlust is amazing.

As a PvP team... At first it sucked. The DK+2 Rets were in full purple pvp gear and the War/Sham were in blues. As they got geared I came to appreciate them much more than the DK+Rets. You still have Cleanse available plus you pick up Tremor Totem, Bloodlust, Wolves, Earthbind Totem, Wind Shear, Frost Shock and most importantly... PURGE. Being able to Purge Hand of Protection off of a target is... Amazing. It's transcendental. For Purge alone I personally think the Shaman is worth it.

Making a /click for the Shaman was cake too. In his gear right now he does about ~4200 dps on trash mobs. About the only downside is that either he or the Warrior gets focused first usually and he is a mana sponge.

Other than that... I'm much more happy with the mixed team as a BG/5's team. PvE too.

Awesome, that's great to hear :)
Just figured I'd give it a shot since I had shaman sitting around with access to wrathful weps so gearing wouldn't be too hard. Not sure if I'll ever finish leveling my warrior, but I'm anxious to see how much the shaman can add to the group in both pve and pvp.

Do you run the priest yourself or is that a friend?

The combo of DK/Sham/War/Retx2 is hotsauce. MS does more than double your damage output. I know it's anecdotal, but... Giving healers half the time to respond to your damage when you're already bursting as hard as a melee cleave can burst... It's insane. We're only in the mid-1500's right now but considering I've only got ilevel 251 weapons and all they're half Furious/Relentless with Wrathful offsets I think we're doing ok.

Will update on Sunday after games :)

you should live stream some BGs or something :)

Me and Void tried to live stream BG's a few weeks ago and his internet just crapped all over him. I've wanted to record some games and put up a video... I guess I could do that :) I'll talk to Void and see what we can get done this week.

I've been working on a melee team in my spare time but it's not finished yet they're mid 70s.

Feral Druid / Arms War / Enh Sham / Ret Pally / Priest

The enh sham is a core part of the group :)

I use an enhance shaman for PvE and PvP:

http://www.wowarmory.com/team-info.xml?r=Earthen+Ring&ts=5&t=Bonjour+Madame&select=Bonjour+Madame

I don't have a PvE spec on my enhance anymore, but when I was gearing up and running 5mans I speced him for PvE with improved fire nova totem and the glyph which was some beastly DPS on trash (3 second cooldown). He would do very high overall DPS, a bit below my warrior (UA Prot pulls some insane DPS) but usually on par with the ret and above the dk. In the arenas and PvP I play him much differently, he tends to do about 30% of the damage my warrior/ret/dk are putting out because he's spending most of his GCDs on purge, totems, frost shocks, heals and hex but that utility is easily worth the damage sacrifice. Windshear is very easy to utilize with IWT, being off GCD and ranged makes it easy to inturrpt on a focus target while spinning in circles around your current kill target.

I've never tried the exact comp your suggesting, but i'd be interested in seeing how it works out for you. I have run something close: 1x war + 1x enh + 1x dk + 2x ret for BGs in the past but never tried it in the arenas. In BGs it was definitely powerful but I did better boxing a dedicated healer in place of a ret, especially in IoC/AV where you fight huge zergs of players at a time, also in WSG, due to the nature of the games and flag debuff. For EOTS/AB/SoTA it was kind of a toss up, most of the time the dedicated healer feels like a waste here because the typical BG fodder that you face arn't outnumbering you enough to do any real damage to your team before they get cleaved through.

I've been meaning to pick your brain about the comp and your /click sequences, target selection, etc :)

Either of you care to share a good pve click macro? :)

I was thinking it would be stormstrike, lava lash, fire nova, couple of shocks on a sequence
and lightningbolt /stopcasting on another button. spam both for win?

Mine is Stormstrike, Lava Lash, Frost Shock, Chain Lightning every ~8 seconds or so, and fallthrough goes to Purge.

For PvE, I used this spec/glyphs:

http://www.wowhead.com/talent#hVhhqbZ0xxIoxzIhusMuVo:doN

/castsequence reset=5/combat stormstrike,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, (cps*6)
/castsequence reset=5/combat Magma Totem,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,, (cps*18)
/castsequence reset=5/combat fire nova,,,,,,,,, (cps*3)
/castsequence reset=5/combat earth shock,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, (cps*6)
/castsequence reset=5/combat lightning bolt

Magma totem always follows stormstrike so that it will be dropped in melee. Using fire nova's this frequently will chew through mana like crazy, even with BoW+JoW+Replenishment shamanistic rage will need to be quite often in my experience. However the damage output is great, especially when you can pull multiple packs at a time. If you wanted to be more convervative with mana you could use fire nova less or not at all, and have lava lash fill in the gaps.

For PvP I wish I could make up my mind, it seems like I change what i'm doing every week. Currently I just include stormstrikes and totem drops in my spam key, and use shocks, purge, and spells manually as needed.

This is my current PVE sequence. My shaman is always on follow behind my tank, which is why Magma is dropped first. Her current gear sims her out to a significant DPS gain replacing Glyph of Windfury Weapon (http://www.wowhead.com/item=41542) with Glyph of Flame Shock (http://www.wowhead.com/item=41531) and using a 2 Earth Shock to 1 Flame Shock rotation.

/castsequence reset=combat Magma Totem,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
/castsequence reset=30 Shamanistic Rage,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

/castsequence reset=combat Stormstrike,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
/castsequence reset=6 Flame Shock,,,,,,,,,,Earth Shock,,,,,,,,,,Earth Shock,,,,,,,,,,
/castsequence reset=6 Fire Nova,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
/castsequence reset=combat Feral Spirit, Null

LB is a separate key to prevent DPS loss from resetting the swing timer.

/assist focus
/cast [combat, target=focustarget] Lightning Bolt
/stopcasting
