I went searching for a clarification on buying the WoW Game Time Cards with in game gold. A lot of sites on the net offer this and I've seen a lot of in game spam for it. It didn't take long for me to find a blue post. So just a heads up that this is something that could bring action against your account(s)

Is it legal to trade a game time code for wow gold? I know there are many posts about TCG code tradings for ingame gold, but I cant find a definite answer.

Such a transaction would not be permitted, Applesseed, as it falls under the category of real world items for in-game currency (and vice versa).

Q u o t e:
Exchange of World of Warcraft Currency/Goods/Services for non-World of Warcraft Currency/Goods/Services, and Vice-Versa (Buying/Selling Gold, Items, Characters, and/or Accounts)

Anyone offering World of Warcraft content for sale is attempting to steal from and deceive you, as no one is EVER allowed to sell any aspect of the World of Warcraft MMORPG except Blizzard and its licensees. Blizzard will not recognize the transaction resulting from the seller's prohibited behavior! Attempting to circumvent this rule by selling "the time put into the character" DOES NOT make such a sale legitimate, as the transaction still results in the transfer of World of Warcraft virtual property (which is acknowledged by every player as solely belonging to Blizzard Entertainment and/or its licensors) and in the seller receiving money.

If you've any additional questions or concerns, please let me know! :)

So am I to understand that this post means its not allowed to discuss this topic on the forums? :D

Fair enough. I will say though that for the people who understand the repercussions, this is a great way to pay for your many subscriptions.

I wouldn't want to completely stifle discussion but it's a topic we probably want to avoid since we have stated in the rules that we want to make sure discussion stays within the various game's ToS/EULA. The reason I posted this is because I wasn't aware it was against the ToS, and someone brought up the topic among the mods, so I went and found out.

In that case, I have been doing this for a little over a year now. It was brought up by my wife no less. I had so much gold that I didnt have anything to do with it and one night my wife said it would be nice if I could pay for the all "those" accounts with it someway. I wont go into details, but like I said above its really nice not ever having to worry about subscription costs, I dont feel like I have to play everyday to justify 60-70 bucks a month.

If I said too much I am sure it will be modded.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention, Svper. It's not something I would do, but it does sound like one of those 'grey areas' without a blue confirmation. I can see why Blizz would outlaw it, it's probably easy to defraud someone out of gold and then Blizzard gets drawn into a matter that could eventually evolve into a civil or even criminal complaint.

I'm not sure why there's some grey area here. We're explicity and repeatedly barred from exchanging any in-game item for any real-life-item (or vica versa). Trading in-game gold for a real-life-game card therefore is a clear and unambigious violation of that rule.

I shal refrain from further discussion.
