Hi all,
so I have seen it several times here where people have said on a fully geared team there is no need for a healer when using shamans. My question is, using a toon which is performing dps, how do you manage their healing? Normally I use Vuhdo with click regions in ISBoxer and with this setup, if the dps toon is casting a dps spell I have to wait for that spell to finish before he casts the heal. How are people overcoming this?
Thanks all for any insight

Theoretical there should be a way with 5 Heal Keys where the key makes /stopcasting and heals the current target (or maybe a Focus target). Don't now if there is a way in Vuhdo for /stopcasting but i think so.

I use the /stopcasting mentioned above.

I have macros in the slots in Vuhdo instead of just dragging spells into the different keys/mouse buttons.

When you are creating macros to be used with vuhdo you should use the notion target=Vuhdo for target. Also you need to "redrag" the macro to vuhdo if you change anything in the macro. This took me an hour to figure out lol.

I was changing something but nothing happened with the way vuhdo reacted.

The downside of using /stopmacro is, if you spam the heal button nothing will happen because it resets itself on each click. I only have the stopmacro in my Healing Touch since I only use this when things get tough.

I don't bother with /stopcasting.
I'm using repeater regions and Grid (+GridCustomLayouts +Clique).

On the shammies I have four heal keys.
Left Click on the Grid Frame = Lesser Healing Wave (all three shammies).
Right Click on the Grid Frame = Chain Healing (all three, again).
Then have keybinds, where the shammies assist the active toon, for the same two spells (for targeting those outside my group).

When I need a heal, I stop spamming for a moment.
Click/Press the heal, as appropriate.
And then resume spamming.
Technically my Pally and Warlock are losing 1-2 seconds of DPS because of this.
But its not really a big deal to me, and heroics die.

I didn't start out with a Resto and eventually move to the 3x Elemental...
I started with three elemental and a warlock, basically crap gear.
Except the pally had fairly decent gear... Titansteel/Naxx/Ulduar/ToC BoE's from having run way too many dailies.

The Vuhdo macros seems like something I will investigate, it seems like the one which would work the best for me. Can I get an example of a generic macro which works for this type of setup?
Thanks

I just have simple macros for all the shamans to heal a named toon with LHW, does mean 5 macros but I find that way easy to manage the specific toon to heal. When I see them dropping low, just mash the relevant heal button and they're back to full.

I have a Warrior 3X Elemental and 1x Warlock.

I do the same thing as Ualaa except I continue the dps spam and Click in the repeater regions at the same time. As the macros refresh the heal spam kicks in one by one. The only time I stop the dps clicking is if its critical all heals hit asap.

That /stopcasting sounds good in theory, but in practice it's been a big problem for me.

You trigger a global cooldown when you cast a spell.

So if you cast lightning bolt or chain heal, it triggers the GCD.

So then if you have the GCD and cast your /stopcasting it doesn't cast it.

So you end up having like 1/2 your guys or none of your guys cast a heal when you most need it - and if you spam the key, it'll stop casting the heal!!!

I use a dedicated healer when i'm my pve stance (bear, tree, 3xspace chickens), so I simply tap the key twice and the healing touch is on its way.

On my shamans, I just set the tank as focus, and cast LHW on the focus target with a button. I have a LHW button for my main, since him falling over would be the most detrimental, and I have a chain heal button where each toon just casts it on themselves.

In heroics, usually you wont really get a certain toon getting focus fired for very long, but if it happens, click his frame and cast a heal on him manually. Usually if anyone except my main is getting hit, everyones getting hit a little, so i just chain heal on each toon, its smart enough to then leap to the lowest 2 targets, so the characters that need the heals the most will get the most healing from it.

Using an FTL setup, I use my G keys for heals from my 4 Rets.

G1 = all heal toon1 (the prot pally)
G2 = all heal toon2 (ret pally1) ..etc thru to G5.
G6 = all heal self (except the prot pally of course) - useful if I'm taking AoE damage.

Works well for me anyway, and in fact I might drop the healing back a bit, as 4 heals from the rets is a major overheal, so I might use a /castsequence in front of the heal macros to have only every 2nd ret pally cast the heals on G1->G5.
