I was led to believe that levelling Blacksmithing was supposed to involve making huge amounts of stuff that you either have to disenchant, vendor, or hope sells on the AH along with the same items every other levelling blacksmith is trying to sell. But mulitiboxing has just gone and proven that idea completely wrong. I decided to make full savage saronite sets for my 5x DK team, and that got me right through the most expensive 420-450 point part, with every single item being something I'll be using, and without having to use a single bar of titanium :)
They're not 78 yet to use it all, but I did make a fair few other items that they'll be levelling into.

BS is good for making gear that you will level into and use.
With blizz dropping the GCD for titansteel it makes it a lot easier to make enough titansteel to gear your plate wearers up for HC duties really quickly. :)
Although, there seems to be a bit of a dearth of titanium nodes out there at the moment :(

No worries, you can still transmute saronite bars into titanium bars with alchemy.

Is that still on the GCD though?
because if it isnt, then transmuting the saronite to titanium could be a good option... I have 2 alchemists :)

Running an all-Paladin team, I've got both Blacksmithing AND Alchemy (well, I've got everything but Inscription to be honest... lol).
I look forward to making even more use of both when they get close to 80 (currently 30 and leveling fast).

Yep, having a JC who's needing some recipes I'd have to be nuts to smelt titanium ore. If I want titanium bars, then I mine for saronite and use my alchemist (although most of the saronite was just vendored to buy a load of titanium ore).
Chances are my DKs won't be needing any more crafted gear, as they're for BGs and WG, so will be working towards PvP gear.

JC is getting very hard for me to level.
I've already got Blacksmithing (which gets first call on Ore), and Engineering (which gets second), poor old JC'ing is getting left out in the cold. Short of buying Ore (hugely expensive) or really slowing down my leveling to go hunting it down, I don't see myself leveling JC'ing until 80.

Ore to level JC is nothing, it is the old world gems that are killing me. I can't buy enough. I will have to go mine mithril and thorium for prospecting. Yes Alchemy Xmutes are hot, 1 gem per day and all the saronite bars you can afford. Double your money!

I think that this weekend, I am going to be spending both days mining and smelting saronite, handing it off to my alchemists to transmute to titanium...
The off to the bank toon it all goes :D
I think that I might get my engineer to mine it, because he can also mine the clouds for eternals :)

If you're looking for gems that are from the mithril/thorium level Silithus was great. Tons of veins in the hives and virtually no competition.

I had a better time mineing in burning steeps, and searing gourge due to allot of the stuff in silithus was underground in the hives. Which turned into me haiting life trying to figure out where it was at.
