In our continued efforts to support fair gameplay in World of Warcraft and to provide a positive experience for players, we are currently taking steps to ensure fair and enjoyable competition in the Battlegrounds. Starting immediately, we will be issuing warnings and penalties, including suspensions for non-participation in Battleground games.
We are taking action against a large number of accounts immediately, and will continue to monitor these situations and regularly take action against violators. If you encounter a player in a Battleground who is intentionally not participating in the battle for an extended period of time, please help us track the situation and report the player as AFK. For information on how to complete an in-game AFK report, please go here: (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/battlegrounds/info.html). All reports will be thoroughly investigated, and corrective action will only be taken if the violation is confirmed.
Thank you for your support and best of luck to you in all of your games in the Battlegrounds!

I'm interested in seeing how well this works in practice. Also, as this was posted on the EU forums, it doesn't necessarily apply to the US servers. Since people are seeing this, though, it should be interesting to see how many more people start reporting AFK'ers. I guess the only real results will be how many "OMG mah account waz banned!" posts appear on the forums. :P

Beat me to it :p But yeah we got it already, and I, for one, welcome our new item-destroying space-waster-banning overlords. Good effing riddance, maybe alliance will actually OMFG win AV once in awhile again.

I got reported for being AFK just for taking the mine (in under 30 seconds I might add) and had to stop gathering supplies just to get honor. It is a seriously flawed system, and the fact that gathering supplies doesn't constitute a valid tactic is stupid.

What the heck does gathering supplies do for your team and "winning" the battle?
(I seriously have no idea)
/end noob mode
Gathering supplies actually supplies your side with more reinforcements. I've found that getting the quest riding to the mine in alliance territory, taking it and gathering resources can give a tactical advantage in numbers EVEN WHEN towers and GY's have been capped.
