Regarding battered hilts

So i must be very very very lucky.... this week has been great i managed some how to get two battered hilts in 1 week at the so low 1-2% drop rate from ICC Heroic trash. Now only 2 more to go lawls.

Anyone else haveing such luck?

(im not farming them just doing all 3 ICC heroics every day for those odds and ends i still need :))

I haven't gotten one yet, but I haven't really farmed for them in earnest yet. I'm going to have a nice chunk of playtime in the next couple weeks, and I figure I'll get a chance to run them over and over.

It seems like the best route to go is to clear all the trash in Pit of Saron before the first boss, and then switch to Forge of Souls. Kill trash before first boss and then bounce back to a fresh PoS.

HIlts still go for 8000-9000 on my server, so I've not been willing to plunk down cash for the 3-4 I need. My team is currently running with my DK with a 232, my main pally with a 251 from ICC 10-man, another pally with the 232 heroic axe, and the last two with 219s (ugh) from normal PoS. I'm at the point where the team is geared very well with arena/PvP gear, but my arena performance could still use the extra damage that would come from everyone having a 251. (I lose quite a few matches where I *almost* killed someone in the critical first few seconds).

One thing I've considered is simply asking around with other guilds and buying myself a 251 drop from ICC. The first boss drops an excellent weapon, and I'd be willing to make a 3-5,000g donation to a guild that would carry me along and awarded me the drop. That would be much cheaper than a hilt, honestly, and just as good. I also try to get my guys into any GDKP ToC25 runs I can for a shot at the ilvl245 weapon in there.

I will probably certainly have to devote some time to farming hilts now that the rest of my gear is almost squared away. It just sucks knowing that I could farm for an entire week and not see a single drop...

I could imagine potentially buying one for my main Prot Paladin, but my four Rets are just going to have to do with whatever they can find.

why would you want a battered hilt for a protection pally?

i can offer my "unlucky" personal experience:
- about 50 FoS HC runs, about 40 PoS HC, about 50 HoR HC, i done in random mode... Battered Hilt = 1

never farmed, dropped last week for first time in FoS trash.

I haven't specifically farmed for hilts either, but have done HFoS and HPoS many times and haven't seen one drop. I'm not too anxious about them. They were around 5k on my server last time I checked, and I am still buying fast flyers for my new team, so I'm probably going to have to wait to upgrade to some green item at around level 80 1/4. :)

I have cleared all 3 instances at least 10-20 times and haven't seen one drop... i 5 box

I've done it a few times.. never farming just the usual route to hit bosses.. once i looted from the 3rd group of mobs in FoS.. as luck would have it, the bone pair following the group dropped another as well, in the SAME run on consecutive groups of mobs. Never seen it since then.

Ahh, yes, like the Dalaran rings, there's no good Prot weapon is there.

Well, I definitely don't plan on getting them for all 4 rets.
