So, a silly question...
When multi boxing how do you manage feeding your pet? Do you use an addon to "auto feed"? Is there a macro? Do I just need to switch to my hunter? I haven't played a hunter at all since 3x went live, much less as a MB team.

My hunter team is kind of cruel.
They have Mend Pet glyphed, so it increases pet happiness.
And just very regularly do a Mend Pet, and let the pet fend for itself as far as food goes.
A lot of the pet talent options have happiness increasing effects as well.
If you actually wanted to feed a pet, I'd use something like:
#show Feed Pet
/cast Feed Pet
/use iamspetfood (or whatever else you'd feed the pet)

There is no need to feed pets any more.
Glyph of Mend Pet (minor) (http://www.wowhead.com/item=43350) restores happiness.
Tenacity pets have Guard Dog (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=53179) ability for happiness.
Cunning pets have Carrion Feeder (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=54044) ability for happiness.
Ferocity pets have Bloodthirsty (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=53187) ability for happiness.
I haven't carried pet food at all on my 80 hunters.

I thought the happiness mechanic was removed from the game in the last few months?
I'm currently db a shamen/hunter, and I haven't done anything at all to increase my pet's happiness. I better check this when I get home tonight!

Oh, it's definitely still there, you just won't notice unless you afk for a while or your pet dies.

Well most for my hunters on one of them i leveled skinning and I tend to have pets who eat meat so it makes it almost impossible for me to run out of food for them. I just send my slaves food from my main. and I feed them all individually. I know thats a pain but I dont really care much. I personally didnt use the mend pet glyph because eventually when you get high enough you dont have to feed your pets anymore and they're happiness stay up. I would just do it the old fashion way its really not hard as long as you keep up with skinning. If I were you I wouldnt waste my gold on the glyph when you can use it for more important glyphs.

What does skinning have to do with feeding pets? You get leather from skinning, not meat.

I would guess... skin animal type mobs, which requires looting them first.
And as loot, you get a fair amount of meat.

Yeah I figured people would figure out that when you skin animals you get meat....

You get the same meat from just killing, it does not require skinning. You also get plenty of pet-friendly food from non-skinnable mobs. But the question posed is not about where to get food for your pets, it's about how to manage pet happiness, and as mend pet is a minor glyph, it is WELL worth getting for a multi-boxer who doesn't want to have to manage pet happiness while leveling up. You sacrifice nothing by using the mend pet glyph, as being a multiboxer makes almost all other minor glyphs irrelevant.

I do pet feed the easy way (for me)
/cast Pet Feed
/use Food Name

I know, I was just offering a solution that helps with happiness and makes you money. Instead of a solution that cost money. But either way works I suppose. Plus I think skinning is a good profession to have as a hunter. I dont know.

I like to have each gathering skill present on each team.
So one skinner, one herbalist, and one miner.
I like to have an enchanter per team too, for instance drops which are not upgrades, in case the DE value exceeds the vendor value.
That said, in general gathering skills are great for money, when you don't have much.
But once you have a fair bit, production skills make you more.
And as a boxer, massing the transmute skills is good too; I'm making an average of 4k gold a day from alchemy transmutes + jewelcrafting.

i've got plenty of keys to spare, so i keep food on one button and 'feed pet' on an separate button. just hit the feed pet key, then the food you want to feed them. this way incase i need to park my hunters and feed them, mostly after a wipe/rez, i can do so without having to fish for the food in their bags. i keep the glyph and talents for extra happiness so their happiness never goes down unless they die and i have to rez them. the way the changed up that whole deal was removing the loyal part. used to you had to keep your pets happy or else they would actually turn on you, attack you, then leave you, forcing you to retrain an new pet. since the introduction of spirit pets, or may have been way before that, people that went afk with their pets out for long periods suffered this, as well as those that spent days/weeks/months tryin to train rare pets. so now, your pet's only lose damage to their attacks instead of leaving you. but get the talents and glyph, and toss mend pet on them every once in a while when you're not fighting. also remember to feed them after they die and you rez them. i've got three hunters on /follow, so tracking their happiness is difficult right now. but i can still see they stay in the green zone.
