Sounds like your computer is overheating.

If its not due to overheating, try running with 1 and 1 ram stick (in case one is faulty) or reinstall windows and everything else.

tell us a little more about the PC.
what size power supply, what kindd of video card, what kind of case?
a weak power supply can sometimes cause this too.

I have an Antec 900 case and it has so many fans nothing ever gets hot in it.

Step 1:

Start --> right-click "Computer" --> Properties
On the left side of the system properties window, click Advanced System Settings
On the Advanced tab, click the Settings button in the "Startup and Recovery" box towards the bottom.
Uncheck the box that says "Automatically Restart"
Set the dropdown to Kernel Dump
Click OK in all the dialogs to exit out and you'll probably have to restart the system.
Next time it craps out on you, it should just hang at a blue screen showing a STOP code. Paste the info from the blue screen in a reply here and we can probably make some progress.
If it does not blue screen but just reboots, then it is likely a hardware failure due to overheating or something else very bad.

Have you tried running memtest86 or Prime95 to stress the RAM and gotten successful results overnight? If not, run those. Any errors in the logs for those usually indicate memory timing/speed issues or bad hardware.

My Antec Nine Hundred Two had a bad wire (short) from the case Reset switch to the motherboard that caused it to randomly reboot. Unplugging it from the mb fixed my problem. Just something else to consider.

I had something slightly similar with the win7 RC before I had to shell out for a retail version of home premium. Maybe problem was I had not paired the RAMs (2 x 1gb, 2 x 2gb) together properly as the motherboard colour-coding was REALLY misleading/rubbish. In the end I replaced the 2 x 1gb with 2x2 giving me 8 and paired them properly. No crashes in 3 months.

Yes, it is Windows 7. Once you install win7 it completely takes over all your hardware in your computer, not to mention your power supply and even the power stick that you computer plugs into. win7 also automatically converts all the drivers you downloaded to special windows 7 code so it can control your hardware.

There is no possible way that the random freezing and reboots could be caused by your drivers, or your hardware, it is definitely windows 7 fault.

Good luck.

Still nothing it just frooze on me no report or nething i might just take it to a computer place and have them see whats going on. Maybe theres a short somewhere because it doesnt get hot at all. Gotta be something wrong with the os or a component and i dont have all the time to figure it out.

I was joking.

Visit the manufacturer site of every major hardware component you have, and download the drivers for them, then reinstall the drivers.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS version for your mobo, it may need to be flashed, but ASUS should have a program that will do that automatically.

If you don't have the time/expertise to figure it out, definitely take it in to a reputable service place near you (note: NOT Best Buy).

Man screw best buy. Nah i dont have much time ne more it wasnt hard putting it together im just not sure if maybe theres a faulty wire somewhere causing it to freeze and restart. Although i did try the cable at reset button and fiddled with it. It didnt restart or freeze and i left my computer running for 5 hrs not sure if it was a fluke or not.

But im bringing my computer to a good place later free to diagnose and then pay to fix but meh. I wonder if my os has a glitch in the software.

There are any number of drivers that are not 100% compatible with Win7 - for me I got a similar problem with a mobile broadband connection program

just read about someone with similar problems where it would only work with 6gb of ram, so maybe try running it with only one set of modules.

850w psu could be bad or good, depends on who built the psu, so it would be good to know the manufacturer of your psu.
some cheap psu's are based on old designs and the quality of the parts probably isn't as high, so a recently released psu from enermax(sample, don't know many manufacturers) in the 500w range might actually be "better".

Good luck with it. I would highly suspect a 3rd party driver before I suspected Win7.

I have the same problems on Windows 7.

Machine specs:

Asus Rampage II GENE x58 LGA1366
Intel i7 920
OCZ Gold DDR3 1600MHz 12 GB (6x2GB)
EVGA GeForce GTX 260
OCZ Vertex 60GB SSD

The blue screen I'm getting says MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION.

No idea what's causing it, only happens on the initial boot after some time running WoW. If I reset/reboot, it never crashes again until the next time I turn the PC on.

This is NOT a win7 error.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machine_Check_Exception

Windows 7 (and others, even linux!) report this error but the error itself is detected and reported TO the OS by the CPU when it detects a hardware failure. It is not an OS-generated/-detected error.
