I'm building a new pc.

ASUS P6X58D Premium http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131614
OCZ gold 12G http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227365

I'm getting bit errors on memtest86+
I can use either set of 6G of ram in bank0 and everything works fine but once I put all 12G in the PC I get bit errors in the second bank.

Assume this means I need to RMA the motherboard right?

I dont think you need to RMA anything, aim for using specified speeds instead :)
With your board, occupying two slows on each channel, I would see how 1333mhz at cl9 worked.

Dont think of it as running the ram any slower btw, your 12gb ram is lightyears faster then any 6gb kit in situations where you use 6gb+. Even the fastest 6gb kits will make the entire computer turn into a crawl if it needs to borrow the hard drive due to insufficient ram.

the memory defaults pc3-8500 ( or at least the motherboard does )
it seems to be working just fine with only 3 sticks at pc3-1333 with a 1T command rate.
I guess as long as boxing 5 accounts doesn't use more that 6G I'll be fine....
it's kind of the principle that I purchase a board that is supposed to handle 12G.

I sure like this PC.... seems wicked fast to me.

Number of Memory Slots 6×240pin Memory Standard DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 Maximum Memory Supported 24GB

It supports the amount of ram you want, it's not working quite right. Have you tried searching google/other forums? You might need to tweak some settings.

Catamer, what about latencies? cas, tras etc?
You could also try and update the bios (read instructions carefully before you cast update bios so you dont fail and brick your motherboard :p)

well, the model of the memory is
OCZ3G1600LV6GK which is supported as 12G if I use the timing 8-8-8(1066-7-7-7-20) 1.65V

also
OCZ3FEX1600CLV6GK is only supported as 6G at 7-7-7(1066-9-9-9-24) 1.65

I'm not really sure how to read that number from the book but
when I moved the timing up from Auto to DDR31600
CPUZ show DRAM Freq=803Mz, 9-9-9-24 timing.

I guess I need to figure out how to set it to 1066 7-7-7-20

well, setting the timings to 8-8-8-24 and it seems to be working with all 12G installed, I'll let the memory test run overnight and see how it holds up.

It is always a good idea to test manually setting your ram at it's rated speeds with your cpu at it's default speed as well. Then test the ram. Generally manually setting ram timings/speed will fix a problem with fully populating a board with ram.

well, it took me days of testing and after reading the reviews at newegg I order the corsair dominator memory.
the corsair dominator memory worked the first time at the default settings.
the corsair dominator memory worked the first time at the XMP profile #1
all 12G of it.

the OCZ went south after a day or so and I couldn't get more that 6G to work at any setting.
the OCZ memory was just crap.

I love my new PC... I 10 boxed the spider wing last night using just one PC.
I'm so over geared for Naxx, I had done WG with my healer as DPS and forgot to change her back and did patchwerk and the spider wing without any healer. :p

i have used a set of ocz gold ram like exactly like the kit you linked in earlier posts. Honestly, you shouldn't have to set memory timings on new equiptment, especially if you aren't overclocking the pc or even the ram itself should you have the nerve. if both memory batches work in bank 0 at listed speed then you have a board issue then clearly to me. otherwise it would be a bad ram chip like you previously thought. Who like to place the cup game with ram chips... I know that you have already placed your order, but I got really excellant latencies and response times out of my ocz, but my cheaper version of cosair ram compared to your purchase didn't fare as well.
