View Full Version : Question about dualboxing
Hello,
I've been reading the stickies and the posts in this forum, but theres still few questions in my mind, for i havent found answer yet.
Im trying to dualbox Warlock (main) / Mage . Havent thought about what i will do in 70 since theres a long way to go, but i just wanted to try out the multiboxing.
I've made macros for my mage, so it assists, casts spells etc. My current setup is that on my lock key 2 will cast shadowbolt and my mage will assist and cast fireball for the same keystroke. At low levels, it doesnt make difference, since spells have basicly same casting time. But what happens in higher levels, when theres loads of spells to use and cast times are different? I've read the macros section, and theres plenty of good macros to use on second char (Xzin's macros for warlock for example) and are set to numkeys 1-0. but what are you guys putting on your main's numkeys 1-0 ?
So my question is, what would be good setup for warlock/mage combo, if i just wanna dualbox those 2 to 70. like what should i bind on lock's numkeys ... or are you guys using like 1-0 for main char and alt+ 1-0 for subs?
I hope you can understand my question, and i get a decent responce:)
With Best,
Raix

Finding good synergy between classes is one of the difficulties of Multiboxing.
Some people mash keys, some of us carefully lay macros out.
Personally I think the *key* is castsequence macros.
This, in effect allows you to mash one button over and over allowing each character to cast their specific spells in sequence, once casting is completed on one spell, it moves onto the next, etc.
Keybinds themselves are rather a more "personal" thing. Go with whatever you feel most comfortable using.
so basicly for mage instead of this macro:
/cast [exists,harm,nodead] fireball
/stopmacro [exists,harm,nodead]
/assist party1
/cast [exists,harm,nodead] fireball
i could use macro like this for example? and it does frostbolts, fireballs and ends with fireblast with single key stroke?:
/cast [exists,harm,nodead] frostbolt
/assist party1
/castsequence
/cast [exists,harm,nodead] frostbolt
/castsequence
/cast [exists,harm,nodead] fireball
/castsequence
/cast [exists,harm,nodead] fireblast

No.
[code:1]/assist party1
/castsequence [harm,nodead] frostbolt, frostbolt, fireball, fireblast[/code:1]
No.
[code:1]/assist party1
/castsequence [harm,nodead] frostbolt, frostbolt, fireball, fireblast[/code:1]
thanx! you really made my day. cant wait to get home and try it out:) btw, what you think would that combo work for 2vs2 if i get the synergy working:)

Hmm, I doubt it. 2vs2 Seems to be dominated by Resto Druid/Rogue combos at the moment.
Arena'ing is far far harder for a Multiboxer than some people seem to realise, hence why theres only 1 Multiboxer actually doing well at them at present.
well, no probs, i'm just trying out the boxing, since i've leveled 5 solo chars to 70 and its not attractive anymore. so i thought that with dualboxing i can get 2 different chars to 70 with one effort :)

No.
[code:1]/assist party1
/castsequence [harm,nodead] frostbolt, frostbolt, fireball, fireblast[/code:1]

Ummm party1 is yourself; it should be party2. Also, you can simply use /assist Targetname
Example: Your characters are Bob and Jim; Bob is your main, Jim is the other. On Jim, you would have
/assist Bob
as the first line.

Hmm seems I was wrong ><
I'm used to using F1-F5, where F1 is always yourself >_>
also, could anyone give me some tip's how to avoid target going behind second char ... so second char cant cast anymore ..

Make sure the character who is tanking is in front. Also make sure you dont pull aggro with the second character. :-)

It's not about pulling aggro; it has to do with when the main character turns around and the second character doesn't.

yeah, thats what i ment, for example mob attacks second char from behind ... so i can turn easy with my main, but for other?

So pull aggro with the main and re-position? Or bind some extra turn left/right buttons for your secondary character.
