i want to move from hardware boxing to software boxing ... 6 PCS and monitors is crazy on the space it takes up and on the neck strain with the monitors all showing one instance
SO I want to move to ISbooxer toolkit etc ...
I want one machine for main which i have and one super machine to run the 5 instances of my other guys
I want to allievate all the lag ETC thats possible on my end but even though i can spend whatever i really wish im a frugal dude too heh ... but i will spend whats needed to get it as good as its going to get on my end but i dont want to get to point where spending more gets me small percents of unperceived improvements either ...
with that said he is what im thinking atm is this overkill ? where will the bottle neck be

I don't know too much about hardware and stuff :-). Currently I'm dualboxing RK/Hunter on one laptop, both clients run a little bit slower then they would if they ran on 1 pc.
I'm not sure if you can run 5 lotro clients good enough on 1 killer pc though, it takes a lot of memory.
Make sure to get a 64bit OS to make use of your ram. I think 6 or 8 gb ram will help you a bit more running those 5 instances at a time.

I run 6 instances of LoTRO on my PC. I'm at work right now so I forget the exact specs, it is something like:
64 bit Windows 7 Professional
i7-920
12gigs DDR3 ram
2x NVIDIA GTX 285 (not in SLI, I have each one running a monitor)
Intel SSD (I have 6 installs of LoTRO on this one drive, could never get it to run multiple instances off one install)
I have one instance running on one monitor, I left the graphic settings at the normal defaults. The other 5 are running on the second monitor, and I turned the settings down to low. I used IS to spread out the processor cores among the 6 instances, I forget the exact distribution.
Everything loads very fast off the SSD, I use the mouse broadcasting in IS to click the login button for all 6 characters at once and they all load in right away at the same time. Same thing for zoneing into instances and buildings, it only takes a couple seconds for everyone to zone.
I'll check the performance monitor on my G15 keyboard when I'm playing tonight and let you know the usage %s it shows for CPU and RAM, that might give you an idea of what to get for a new computer.
I was around 30% CPU, and 55% RAM usage while playing tonight.

What Version of ISboxer do you use for LOTRO? I tried the latest test build (5088)and it totally failed on my machines (Vista 32+64bit) I get always an exception from Turbinelauncher.exe and my WOW Box team is also not runable with this build. So far I've read in the ISBOXER Topics the game does not work with build 5039. So sad :(

Your specs look good Trushot, I software box four clients with two machines, I have a champ, two hunters and a minstrel, I keep the minstrel on my laptop. I use Isboxer/Innerspace. Just know that it will take you a lot of hours to get the software set up. Hot keys etc... and just fiddling with window layouts. Let me know if you have any questions.
My main comp I run an I7 920, 12gb of RAM, an EVGA x58 board, and a XFX GTX 285, my laptop is a Dell XPS M1530...... Idle around 20% with three clients, media player, web pages up... other software going lol, yeah 20% idle with the 920 and 30% on RAM, LOTRO tends to be a RAM hog.

I'm at work right now, but when I get home tonight I'll take a look at my setup in ISBoxer and post my settings, that might help point you in the right direction.

Did you get everything working Trushot? I had a few snags about a month ago when I tried to launch multiple instances of LotRO, but I was able to get everything working without too much of a hassle. I should have some time this evening to work with you if you still need help. I am in the Central Standard Timezone and will be available around 4pm CST.

no still a no go for me ... either i have the wrong build of innnerspace or i have the TDM and did not know i had it ( i do not think i do but dont know how to check )
i have v1.09 build 5124 development patch download checked of innerspace
the only thing i can think of is the turbine download manager ... I do not think i have the turbine download manager but how do i check to see and or turn it off if i do ?
i feel like if i could just get the WIZARD luanch to work properly and get the windows all up and running i could do all the hotkeying stuff easily enough

What server are you on Trushot?
landroval
someone emailed me to go into properties and set them to run as ADMIN and that got it working at least all toons loading up so now i just have to figure out how this software works like hardware boxing :) ... albeit my current system will not do the job ... i feel comfortable at least in my purchase of new system now to get job done ...
im sure ill have a ton more questions as i progress becuase this is a little more mentally taxing than hardware boxing with 6 pcs and 6 lcds .. heh

I'm all alone on Meneldor it seems lol Though it is a nice and quiet server.
It would be nice to be on a server with some of the other boxers, but I'm not sure if I want to roll a new team now...
