Figured it would be helpful to get some insight from the veteran MB crew what next I should work on adding to my arsenal.

Recap of team.
Pali, Priest, 2x shaman, mage. Gears score from the addon is ~3300 with priest (old char) ~3900.
Shaman are tending to run over 2k most fights, mage(arcane) always a bit lower.

Currently working on getting emblems and gearing up.
Clearing UK, Drak, Gundrak, CoS, first 2 in AN , UP HoL. Which pretty much is about the time I have each night.

Being slowly adding more complexity to my setup, not sure what to do now.
Moved to ISBoxer and healbot yielded big gains in what I could do....

Here are some of my thoughts on things that i should add/be doing looking for feedback on which are really important todo.

1) Click macros , kind of understand the concept but as yet haven't used any. If I understand it correctly this provides an easy way to plug and play for different scenarios.

2) Targeting adds and special must die things. From what I have read many folks might use click macros to have targeting always check for certain things, like the chromatic rift things in the anomolus fight, other adds that spawn mid fight that must go down quick. Currently I mostly just manually target the add with my tank, not super optimal.

3) Short term cooldowns, for dps I really don't make use of trinkets or any of the talents that say "make next cast crit" type stuff for any of my classes. Well I do use heroism on bosses and such hehe. Not sure best way to incorporate these.

4) Crowd control, think this might make some fights easier if say I sheeped/undead root casters. Currently not setup to do this at all.

5) Movement, still getting better at moving, had one issue where I was strafing out of blizzard for Novos the summoner. Couldn't figure out why my priest and mage would end up sometimes mid fight heading off into nowhere. Then it dawned on my, ah channeling, penance and arcane missles face the caster. So now on those fights I will do a quick follow/break to try and keep folks lined up. Short story, maybe a better method to make sure my toons are all facing the same way.

6) View point, I saw a movie on boxing fight for Anub in AN. One thing I noticed is that the viewpoint was way up, which dawned on me, ah much easier to see the spikes from tank than watching the little windows.

Is this a command line thing (to extend the viewpoint, or set-able via UI.

Thanks for any insight on this,

I'm trying to learn the skills now while my gear is still iffy so I have that when expansion comes around. I thought I read about someone who more or less took a new crew and geared them up, did all the heroics right at hitting 80 (in a few days), and though, hmm no way I could do that,..

Sounds like you got the main things down. I would run regular until they are easy/farm mode. then use LFD for the H daily. You get 2 frost that way, I think you can play it until you finish the first dungeon. A week of that should tell you if you are ready to go all Herioc. The LFD will rate you so you don't start in Occulus (You hope) Takes time but you have several months until Cata.

Hmm,

Well I'm pretty much all heroic now, just not doing the tougher heroics but have 5ish I can clear.

I guess what I was more getting at is things to I could do to make me better.

Start using click macros, Should I add targeting for specific adds for those fights that use them.

Kind of what will bring me to the next step.

Been trying to add to my skillset each week, (one week move to ISBoxer, one week add some movement macros etc).

Now that you've got the basics down I think you're correct in looking towards the more specialized scenarios - handling CC / DPS on different targets at the same time or reacting to certain events (movement or otherwise) and so forth.

/click macros are very useful for squeezing out as much DPS as possible while spamming a single key and they also allow for inserting specific targeting logic after the assist but before the spell is fired.

The way I delved into those tasks was to get my normal farming done for the day and then head for one of the harder (for me at the time) dungeons and start pondering what it was about a given encounter that was proving difficult and working out ways to tackle that difficulty.
