Levelling to 70 as 3xShaman

Ok, so here I am.


Lvl 24, currently using my 70 mage to level my 3 guys through Stockades. But what next?

Ellay, Xzin, Bradster all have 5+ lvl 70's. How do you guys do it?

Where do I go next. I grinded to 20. And I heard that 20 - 60 is fast... But I don't see how it could be.

Do I keep doing instances? Do I just grind on yellow mobs? Do I do quests (fuck that)?

Would appreciate input.

I do quest. After grinding jedi in swg (I'm talking old school jedi) I cannot make myself grind killing the same thing over and over anymore. I am sure you can level faster grinding instances but I am not in a race to 70.

1-10 Lowbie quests.
10-25 I used a 70 druid to run me thru instances on my 4 shammies to 25. (VC/Stocks)
25-40 I instanced with the Warrior (BFD/SM) and did a few quests when I was bored
40-45 I did SM with the paladin and hand-leveled each shaman when I was bored for about 1 level.
<--- 2.3 Patch. Long break happened here where I didn't play my shammies.
45+ Quests.
60-67 Quests. I do each instance only once or twice in order to complete the instance quests. I did all the quests in Hellfire, Zangarmarsh, Terokkar, Nagrand.
67-68? Kurenai Rep grind. Killed ogres in Nagrand. Fun stuff. :roll:
68-69 Caverns of Time: Durnholde
69-70 (almost there) Sethekk Halls

I'm saving all the quests past Nagrand for teh moneh! ;)

Suvega and I had a long talk as well since I am literally rolling EOTS. Might sit at 69 for a week or two, get some points and some PvP gear, then step over the 70 barrier. We'll see how bored I get.

Currently 20 with my team and doing WC (it is slow at 20, but decent xp) - far better than collection quests and than killing quests.
At 25 I will try SM and see if I can survive (not sure which part to do but I will figure that out I guess).
I will stay SM until 45.

At 45 are the quests really faster than more Instances? I guess I need to find which quests to do cuz I hate doing collection quests on a 5 box team. :evil:

Nice guide Skuggomann! I just wish I had another char to PL me. But since I am 5 boxing with 1 pally and 4 shammy, I need to level myself. :shock:

0-10 Kill Quests

What is the /played on your 5 box team?

At lv 21 were you able to do SM with only your team or did your mage friend help boost you? I thought SM was 25+ if you are 5 boxing.

As of 2.3? Yes. Just skip the collection quests. You won't have a problem. 50+ there are more quests than you know what to do with in Azeroth.

Blah I was tired last night and rushed this post. I did boost Stockades a fair bit with my Mage actually 20-25, but did a few selected kill quests in Redridge too.

As for the played, it's around 6.5 days at the moment, but I'm not rushing anymore, most tradeskills to 325+now. I rushed to 40, then started to "play" properly.

And yeah, in terms of SM, I boosted all the way. I did do it solo with a similar level druid tanking, just for the experience, but the boosting was way quicker.

I found that doing as many chain quests as possible yielded the best results. Many give you 9k exp just for turning and talking to the guy next to you. Also the chain quests are generally designed to move you to other quest givers appropriate to your level. A great example is the "Missing Diplomat" quest for Alliance.

My shamen basically quested their way up with a single "legit" Deadmines run with pugs(shudder...I was tanking healing AND dpsing...I hate pugs so much), may've had a guildie run me through stocks once for quests but otherwise at 41 they're purely quested, no SM runs yet; currently logged out in Tanaris about to start questing there lol

As for my Druid trio, dozens upon dozens of stocks runs...currently done a half dozen or so SM runs(mostly library for Doan's drops, 1 Armory run and 2 Cath runs); though I've also done most if not all the WEstfall/Duskwood/Redridge + Wetlands and some Southshore quests, working on Arathi quests and starting STV now. I'm quest-driven, what can I say :p I can't stand to grind much and quest rewards are nice + get some honor for discounts later now that all discounts are purely rep-based; both lowbie druids have over 150g already too from loots, only 2 blues out of it lol

At 30ish, I HIGHLY recommend you buy up as many fairly-priced Green Hills pages and do that quest; 1100+ per Chapter turnin and like 4 or 7k exp for turning in the completed set, that's a solid chunk of exp for little work and no mobkilling ;p

As of patch 2.3 the amount of XP earned per quest has drastically changed. You now get a lot more XP per quest AND the XP required per lvl is a lot less now. I find it hard to believe that you could lvl faster by doing anything other than quests since that patch came out.

Example. My solo lock started out in bloodelf starting area. Before i could finish all the quests in that area, they were grey already. Normally you'd go from to crossroads. Well, i skipped XR completely and went straight to tarren mill and form there to Ashenvale. Everything in Ashenvale is already Green to me. My lock is lvl 28 with a few hours playtime.

In ashenvale the lock teamed up with my 28 hunter, and they will dualbox from there on doing quests all the way

Sorry, but grinding instances is downright stupid. There are enough kill quests and super simple collection quests; because one of the changes to old quests was reduction to some in what you have to collect; to level faster through the quest system.



Took about eight days played to level a new lock solo, using hardly any collection quests, while taking mining to 375 and engineering to 375 and tailoring to 375, yeah, dropped mining at 69 and did tailoring in one night which added to the total time from 1 to 70.

Hell, outside I can just roll mobs and not loot faster that I can soak experience in an instance. Frankly multiboxing isn't an improvement in gaming if all your doing is camping a low level instance. Hell thats about as much fun as clicking buttons in Microsoft Word.

Ok if grinding instances is stupid, where is the best place for a horde team to do at lv 26?



I have a lv 26 prot pally and 4 lv 26 elemental shammy....where is a good place for questing at this point in time?

I wouldn't classify grinding instances as stupid, I'd just say its not as efficient or as fast for leveling as questing unless your getting boosted. For 26 tarren mill has some good quests, as does ashenvale or stonetalon mountains.

Well now at lv 26, I moved back to Xroads and will do the RFK instance and see how that goes. I am tired of running the underwater world of BFD. Hopefully I can manage the RFK for a couple levels.

I figure at 32 I will hit SM and do that for a bit. Maybe once I hit 35 or so I will consider doing more quests. I find it quite troublesome trying to find quests which are Kill quests and ignoring the ones that are collect quests. it seems I find too many collect quests at lv 26 and that just slows down the whole progress when I have to do this collection for 5 people.

...where is the best place for a horde team to do at lv 26?
I would hit Thousand Needles working to Ashenvale. Pretty compact area of quests in both locations.
