View Full Version : "Interact with target" with "cheap shot" melee rogue macro

Hi,

I am trying 2 rogue multiboxing.

I want my slave to move towards my target (I'm using "interact with target" to do this) and then "cheap shot".

The problem is, when I use "interact with target" my slave will automatically try and melee the target (instead of using cheap shot). BUT, it will actually "cheap shot" the target about %50 of the time if I spam cheap shot fast enough lol.

I'm just wondering if there is a better way to do this? Any suggestions?

(it may not be possible because I need my slave rogue to get close to my target, and requre "interact with target" to do this, and it automatically tries to melee when it gets close and breaks stealth and making cheap shot impossible.)

Thanks for any help/suggestions.

This is the macro I'm using to cheap shot:

/assist Bob
/cast Cheap Shot

I think I understand your question. I wondered if this would be a problem with my feral druid, using certain moves that can only be moved while using stealth. It hasn't so far, but maybe I was just lucky that the "Cheap shot" style stuff (I think it's called pounce) went off before the first autoattack made contact.
So I see a few possible solutions.

1) Spam cheap shot fast! It may or may not have a greater range than a simple attack.
2) Hit interact with target, then hit whatever key you've bound to "stop attacking". Or make another macro that turns attack off.
3) Maybe make a macro that has the first line as a command to stop attacking, and the second to cheap shot, and bind it to that key. It just might work.

I just use

/cast pick pocket
/cast cheap shot

seems to work

Interact With Target, will start melee attack once you are in range.

If they're not aware you are there...
You could IWT, to get your toons moving in that direction, preferable from behind the target.
When almost there, broadcast backwards movement to break the auto move.
And then broadcast forward movement, which should be pointing to your target still.
And Cheap Shot, when you are close.

That won't work against a moving target.
But should be fine against a stationary guardian of the flag, or most npc's/mobs.

hey thats cool gotta add it to my rogue.

"IWT" ??? I suffer from TMFA=too many freaking abbreviations

Another solution would be spec one rogue in subtlety and grab shadowstep?

IWT = Interact With Target

It is an action that you can bind to a key in the default wow keybindings interface. If you have it bound to a key, hitting that key will cause wow to act as if you had right clicked on the target.

Hi,

To all that posted above thank you. I'm still at about a %50 cheap shot ratio on my slave character, there is no real way of doing this other than using shadowstep, then cheap shotting, and THEN "interact with target" to begin melee to get a %100 cheap shot chance to work.

This is the only safe/reliable way I've found to do this.

Thanks again for the help and suggestions! :)

/stopattack

Might help too if imbeded in a macro. Would be nice if IWT could be macro'd instead of keybound.

About the only way to use IWT, and not attack, is to interrupt the movement before you get to melee.
It would be nice to have a Move to Target keybind or macro, instead of interact which = attack.
