God this is hard!
One of my retadins already has epic gear so could get away with doing the badge farming. My first try of doing a heroic with the team was a fail, so I decided to go back to the four of them and pugging a healer. God even that is hard. I'm finding that the DK tank is just dying a bit too easy....plus I'm coming across the issue where the melee just keep running afer I hit the IWT button that I'm causing wipe after wipe. The only way I can really see myself gearing up by taking the tank solo to start with until he's got at least 5 pieces of the tier set (currently has the shoulders and gloves).....then either queue the DPS as a trio....or go back to the 4 man setup and pug a healer.
OK, sorry for that rant.
How did those of you with this team do it?

Youre not spamming IWT while doing instances are you? Only spam IWT in pvp

The main question I have would be, do you have a main team to fund your boe's ? I plan to have crafted bracers, belt boots and pants made the moment I hit 80 with all the crusader and runed orb gear ready to go at 80. It will be pretty expensive but I anticipate being able to farm at least a few heroics at the start. The BIGGEST thing is to over gear your tank first, this will make things much easier on you, with all the boe buyable stuff out there you can be up and running quicker than you think, provided you're willing to pug a few solo raids and farm the cash and mats for the boe's !
My 5 pally team is at lvl 72 now, when they hit 70 I took them into UK to try my first northrend dungeon, I got owned hard, leveled them to 71 and bought/had crafted the cobalt set pieces for all 5 and went back in. Mind you they all are in full boa gear + cobalt set, my second go was a cake walk.
All that tells you is a few upgrades will go a damn long way to your success. Try the boe route, get all the craftables you can get and pump up your tank. That's the best advice I can give :)

I'm going to be in the same boat as you soon. I will be gearing my tank first and foremost and doing GDKP icc25's on my paladins to attempt to get bryntroll from marrowgar.
PVE you don't want to hit IWT more than once when attacking a mob or unless it moves far away.

As far as the IWT is concerned....I don't spam it.
Example of what is happening - today in AN, I run tank up to the last boss....engage, hit IWT, the pallys run past. I hit it again, they turn...and ran through him......third time they turn again....run through him and into his pound.....3 dead paladins.
As far as money goes. I suppose I could gear the tank in BoEs, however the economy is piss poor on my server and that sort of stuff is actually rarely on the AH.

titansteel bars, runed and crusader orbs(which can be bought with badges from your main team if you have one) and other mats, are easily farmable. Find out what pieces you want with atlas loot addon, find out what the mats are(ie check ToC25 man patterns and ulduar patterns and gather up the mats, farm them yourself if you have a miner, and then you're good to go. get someone to craft them for you if theres any raiding guilds ask them if they have a crafter that can make a particular piece. I know some people who just give stuff away at a steal of a price, all you have to do is ask :D hehe
On the iwt problem, the problem i see happens when you're moving, ie they will iwt to the place WHERE THE TARGET WAS AT THE TIME OF THE CLICK. To help alleviate this problem, you are obviously leading with the tank correct? if so, pull the mob, keep your pallys on follow, get to the mob with your main, STOP MOVING, THEN interact with target so the alts go where they're supposed to. azn is really easy too, as you shouldn't even have to have them iwt to hit anub because he has such a big hit box, and his pound is easily strafeable :D
hope that tid bit helps! any other questions just ask away i'll be glad to help!

Strafing is important. >_> Even for casters.

i never even disabled it, i dont use the turn right /turn left buttons, i rebound A and D to strafe left and right, and my target next target is my S key. my interact key is my Z key
turn keybinds are on Shift+ a and shift+ d just in case i ever would need to move that way,
f for follow, shift+f for target focus target
most of the time i'm spamming follow, then interact with target, then my x key(which is step back for me) i try at most ALL times to keep my four rets behind the tank and straight, so that i can strafe out of stuff like pound and all that
its simple and easy just have to take 5 minutes and set it up lol :) good luck with everything !

Once you create a set of keybinds.
Just need to play with them for a little, and you'll know them.
Then its easy, if you research the fight a bit.
Provided your close to the appropriate gear level.

Still not setup strafing yet, but I think I've got over the hump as far as the tank is concerned. I've just been sitting in LFG constantly as DPS, building up badges till the point where I thought I had enough. Single boxing, I managed to do Heroic Pit of Saron :)
Now that I can queue as a tank, I'm getting into the instance far quicker :)

You can que up with your DPS, and drop group on your tank if you aren't comfortable with your team in heroics yet.

Ooh, hadn't thought of that :)
Seems a little devious....but not in a terribly bad way....hehe.

Run some GDKP ToC25 (or ICC10/25 if that happens on your server) to get some gear upgrades for the tanking DK. A few L245 pieces in the mix will make heroics much, much easier.

You sir are smarter then I, I tried it at 68 and got smashed :P I did make it to the first boss but barely touched him so stopped trying after 3 goes. Might look into this cobalt gear, and maybe soemthing for my healer as well and try again at 71.

Yeah, my guys all had the PvE heirloom chest and 2H axe....and the PvP shoulders. Granted when I was joining LFG, it was with the DK tank and 3 retadins...I was pugging a dedicated healer. Found all the content pretty easy.....it's the jump to heroics that's the problem.

As others have said--Gearing your tank out is your number one priority in order to successfully complete heroics. With BoE epics you should have no problem whatsoever starting out doing heroics. If you can just get your Rets each a Titansteel Destroyer then you should be well enough off to finish many heroics.

Also, make sure you run 5v5 in arena each week. Even with 0-10 weeks, you will get arena points and can grab 2 pieces of ilvl251 gear in 5 weeks. One piece in 2 short weeks...
It may be PvP gear, but it's a huge upgrade over 187-200 level stuff and your whole team can get it guaranteed...

I hadn't considered that...thanks. At least I know it'll be quick loses....I've barely done any PvP with them.

you can technically just go in and leave match once it starts if you don't actually wanna even bother trying.
