Hello there, am quite new to the community here and not been boxing very long. so I'd like to greet all warmly
I've got some questions on setting up teams for pve and pvp , it's all probably been asked before but I thought I'd make a post to see what the community is like and such. Anyway...
I've been boxing for just under a month now I think (with RAF)
Finally got my first team to 60 which is made up of: 1 paladin (tank), 2 warlocks (Aff/demo), 1 mage (fire), 1 shaman (resto).
Firstly am wanting to make a PVP team and a PVE team. Because (so I beileve) PVP is harder then PVE, am thinking of having a team all of the same class and maybe spec. 5 Shammies seems to be a nice team as they have mail, can heal and have good dps. They also have knockback spells for melee DPS and have great buffs.

Am also thinking of boosting up another ranged DPS to replace 1 of the warlocks. I was wanting to have a preist when i started but went with 2 locks because it would be simpler to start with. Now am more comfortable with boxing I'd like to make my PVE team all different classes and so wanting to replace 1 lock. This been said am wondering if it would be more productive of me to level my current team all the way to 80 and then use my paladin to boost up another 4 guys with a preist to replace my lock or would it be better to just leave my current guys at 60 and then level my PVP team (5 shammies) and then use the grant a levels from my RAF to level up fresh new 60's?

What do you guys think of this setup (pally, shammy, priest, lock, mage) I know it will be harder then say 1 pally 4 preists but I feel it would be more sucessful with all the buffs and spells. or would it be better to replace the lock with say a boomkin druid for the battle ress and then if i get any loot there would only be 2 cloth wearers and rest don't need to share?

Sort of a long post, sorry about that.
Thanks for your replies, if any.
Regards, LightWrath :)

Ugh sorry, is it possible to have this post moved to the Multiboxing Group Composition Discussion page or would i have to copy and paste?

If an admin or mod see it then yes they can move it. Otherwise, just c/p

For a pvp team, I'd recommend something which is capable of running (PvE) Heroics.
Because gearing up for PvP, with badges (PvE) reward... is faster then grinding battlegrounds.

Shammies are an excellent option for PvP.
They can stagger Tremor Totems for fear protection.
Have a ton of other totems for configurable buffs.
Put out high controlled burst.
Wear mail armor and carry shields.
Can heal, in their DPS form.
Possibly consider 1x Feral Druid + 4x Elemental Shaman.... and dual-spec the Druid to Balance for PvP (don't bother with any healing from this toon, stay in Boomkin the whole time... manage Eclipse if you want, or approximate it with a castrandom).

The latest flavor of the month team...
And they've been around much longer then the month.
Is: 1x Death Knight (Frost/Blood), with 4x Retribution Paladins.
The team gains passive heals from Divine Storm and Judgement of Light.
And through Art of War, can toss about frequent heals either to each toon individually or targeted at whoever is taking damage.
The team can clear all 5-man heroics, and is a beast in PvP.

I'm in the process of leveling 5x Feral Druids.
With 3x Cat, 1x Bear and 1x Tree, the team will be able to do any heroic.
5x Feral is untested/unproven for high end pvp, but they have a massive number of toys/tools to play with.

There are a ton of options.
I've also got 4x Affliction Warlocks + 1x Discipline Priest.
I don't see heroics as an option for this team, but it is a PvP focused team.

I could see a rogue team doing quite well.
Possibly include one or two druids for heals.
If you went 3x Rogue, 1x Feral, 1x Resto, you could do heroics.
And then have either 2x Feral, 3x Rogues for pure melee.
Or some combination of healers with the rogues.
You get two battle rez's, and some heal options too.

Hey there Ualaa, Thanks for your reply and sorry for my time taken to reply.
This seems a great idea, I've already for an 80 druid from before i used to box, which I've been boosting my other toons up with. Hes resto balance at the moment but I think it might be an idea to craft him some tanking gear good enough got grinding HC's. That way i can get triumphs for PVP gear.
As for the 1 DK, 4 Pallys you said, sounds really powerful but Melee team sounds hard and I've not a clue how to set that sort of thing up.
Yeah theres a lot of teams to thing about. am trying to get as many leveled as I can while I still have RAF!
Thanks for the reply :)

I learned about multiboxing from watching the multiboxing live playing video where a person will show video (this is live too!) the same holy nova spells on 5 priests over and over again and it works really well.

the problem is how they will do when they level up to 80, because I want to do arena fights, but will 5 priests be good in arena?

I think 5x Priests, will get you consistent points each week.
You'll raise up the rating ladder a point.

But I'd be very surprised if the team were to get 1800.

It won't be a competitive team, in arena.
But can use arena for faster gear.
And won't be horrible in battlegrounds, especially in a support role.

Mass Dispel with Fear Ward on a round-robin, is some fear bomb protection.
Not to mention they can AoE fear too.

Every team/composition brings strengths and has weaknesses.
You need to identify the strengths, and think of ways to use them.
And also counters to your weaknesses.
There are a lot of compositions which can work to a degree.
And it also depends on if you'll be focusing on 2v2, 3v3, 5v5 (arena matches) or on BG's which will be rated in Cataclysm.
