So I was thrilling myself with the joys of the PTR. They had a PvP event with the GM's and I decided to test my luck in the random BG system. Well lone and behold I was drawn into the pool for AV. So I cheerfully ran rampent about the game, which crashed, but then started back up. Anywho, we (alliance) managed to destroy all of the towers and kill drek with in 25 minutes. Now here is where the fun begins.
Ok so after that game concluded I glanced at the standings board, only to be bewildered by my teammates honor gained. He had around 7.5k I was in awe, because he had only no more than 30 HK's. So I've worked out this formula.
If we did AV in 25 minutes, that would be 2.5 AVs per hour. With each AV raking in ~7k honor if played correctly we can finish with about 14k per hour per character. For me that's ~70,000 honor per hour, given I have five. Now if I were to play 12 hours in one given day. I'd be sitting at about 800,000 honor in 12 hours of playing AV. We subtracted ~40,000 for the queue's and such.
Now with the grand total of 800,000 devided by the gem price of 10k per gem, I'd have about 80 gems. With 80 gems at 150 per gem, I'd be raking in 12,000 gold. So about 1000 gold an hour for my efforts. Not that bad. So I approve of this patch. :)

If that is indeed still the case when the patch goes live you still think gems would sell for 150g a piece???????????????????????????????????????????

Maybe not, but idk, I was just doing the math based on the information I had available. Sure I'm sure right when the patch hits we can expect the gem market to get owned. But at least as boxers we can act as if we were a large supplier. :D

if you can get that much, so they can they.. dont count on honor for gems. Most people are beginning to be maxed out in their honor purchased gear.

hard to tell what the market will be like when the patch hits. well, hard for me at least, I'm now a pro wow economist.
however it's looking like there won't be much left to spend gold on this late in the expansion. And I'm saying that as a PVPer... not one of these "I farm everything so I never need gold" pve types. Of course I guess you could hoard gold for the expansion. Biggest gold sink for a PVPer, assuming you didn't just roll an alt team, is going to be professions.. don't waste it on battered hilts. There are a few other things, but they aren't that expensive, for a boxer... like guild's selling shadow's edge or 3s teams carrying you for 5-10k gold for a good weapon or something

i for see with ever one getting more honor that epic gem prices are going to fall by a lot. unless the up the amount you of honor for them. i have been trying to sell off all my epic gems i had in the bank befor the patch hit.

Theres still 2 weeks or so before the patch hits, and the price change will depend on your server's economy. If gem prices stay stagnant (honor wise) i forsee that all epic gem types will settle around 100-120g per. Which is still quite a bit.

For every person farming honor to with the sole intent of selling gems, there are probably 100 others farming heroics to convert emblems to sell gems. When 3.3 hit and LFD was introduced, there was definitely a pricing impact across the board on my servers gem market (20-30%) which still persists to this day. I expect the pricing impact of the BG changes to be pale in comparison to the aftermath of 3.3 tbh

Well all I gotta say is that if there isnt a large price drop after this then I will be one rich mofo! So here is me rooting for no major price deflation! :D

To elemental they are testing alot of things with honor and how much you get. By the sounds of it looks way to much honor. As they are also testing how much honor you get with a single mark but the real price for marks is only 185 honor for 1 got that from a blue post PTR is all about testing :D I believe it will get dropped alot more then it is now in the PTR later on just wanted to add my 2 cents
