View Full Version : Boosting 45-60 where/how?

ok, all going well boosting a couple new characters I made last night. I am now at 45 and trying to get Scholo pulls down.
Is strat better or is scholo the place?
In SM I could pull Cath and Armory in less than 9min total which netted a ton of exp. Cath you could pull the enire place if you pulled both bosses.
I feel like I cant figure a decent path in scholo atm..tried twice.
I leave the low levels up top on the bridge/steps jump off kill the mobs there.
Just cant get enough mobs at once cept when I pull rattlgore all the way back to the entrance and a billion skels got summoned lol.
I am T10 geared paladin.
Watched a couple vids but they kill mobs to far away..My slaves dont get exp... Seems like that room you jump to should be the kill room??
Maybe I will try strat but not giving up on scholo quite yet..

I have always used Scholo and just did a simple room by room pull, I used a druid using swipe which kills everything really fast.
Rattlegore is not worth doing IMHO unless you want the shards or drops.
I normally just pull the first 3 rooms, each time moving my lowbies up to just outside each door.
Also worth getting the quests as they get a ton of XP and real easy when boosting.

yeah, I did gore to get the key..then I pulled 5 of the lower bosses and all their mobs all at once and brought them to the room with all the students. Killed them there and slaves got the exp

The only thing that 3.3 changed in this video was the AoE nerf. I'm told it didn't change for Paladins so you have nothing to worry about.

Sholomance is the place. It should take 18 clears to get the 15 levels from 45 to 60. (with RAF 3x more w/o)
Park toons at the entrance.
Kill the 4 mobs on the bridge.
Jump down and kill that room
Go up and kill the big room with all the casters.
Gather up the welps and jump down and gather rattlegores room and kill, get viewing room key.
Go back to the caster room and go down behind the book case and kill all that.
Come back up and reclear the first room where you jumped down as they will have respawned.
Open locked door and agro the teachers and kill the entire student room.
Start going back out. Dont agro any of thoes summoner guys in the bone rooms as they wont follow.
Gather as many casters as you want from the room past the bridge.
Done.
Takes me about 12 min to clear that.

I found Strat much easier and slightly more fun, once I had the rythym down, I was getting far more XP/h and the mobs are simple to kill, plus unlike SM/Scholo I wasn't hitting the instance/h cap which is really annoying.
However I did do both Scholo and Strath to get my T set's
Another cool thing about Strath is the ammount of Pristine black diamonds and rightious orbs that drop, the former sell for 200g on my server, the rightious orbs, not so much, but they easily paid for repairs.

I prefer Stratholme to Scholomance.
However, pick your poison between the two.
And run either from 45th to 55th.
At 55, migrate your team to Hellfire Ramparts.
If you want to boost beyond 60th, at 60th move to Underbog.
At 64th, move to your Auchendoun instance of choice.
I forget which one I used, but you want the one with mostly melee types.
At 68th, I moved to Steamvault.
Although Northrend questing might be better at 68+

I did extensive testing for auchendoun instances... it is most effective to run Sethekk with a high damage class that can heal themself (ret pally, feral druid) you get upwards to 30% per run until 66, 66-68 is between 15 and 20% per run, and you can hit the instance cap per hour.

I boosted in Scholo last weekend. I left my toons at the entrance and they got full xp/reputation no matter where i killed mobs. BTW I don't have RaF.
Only mobs that really piss me off are those stunlocking guards at the beginning of instance, other than that scholo is fast instance to clear and gives good xp/hour.
I've done both Strat and Scholo boosting and i prefer Scholomance.

ok, I can now pull all of Sholo in under 18min including every single boss(Gandling and the summon boss). Once I moved my slaves just a couple steps in they got exp from the entire place... lol, just got the epic staff that isnt really epic when you look at the stats. BUT boy oh boy did I farm the crap out of that place in plain wow to get that staff on my lock
I like strath, get an 80 Tankadin and enter on dead side (makes easy for re-zoning)
run thru open few gates, pull all the side from chapel -> live easy aoe.
and then for extra pull all the Scarlet people. (the mobs that charge suck though, still doable)
SM till 45 then Strath to 60 and I barley had 1day played time by time I was in Hellfire.
side note - Orbs / Runecloth / Greens = good cash out [depending on server $$]
30-60g per 1 / 9-10g stack / 3-13g. for my server.

Im leveling 4 hunters for friends with the raf of course and i always go to strat. Ill do strat till 60, hearth to sw and grant all the free levels. Im running with my main. A SPriest and have no problems running strat with huge pulls. The AOE nerf kinda sucked but mindsear 100 mobs and they die reguardless. Between my team and all the teams Ive run in strat you would figure that I got them mount already..... NOT. In total i bet ive ran it over 100 times with doing all the RAF that I do. im sitting on 15 accounts that all have a lvl 60 priest, paly and driud. A level 45 warrior mage and lock. thats beside my team that I play on....
everytime someone wants to level to play I tell them to get the game and I raf it. works out for me if I ever want to expand my team and i get all the cloth and green that they dont use to skill enchanting and tailoring. at the end of the nights running I tell them to mail me the greens and cloth. 3 guild banks with 5 tabs each and its full of chanting mats and cloth all the time.
Damn I love wow.....

ok, hit 60 just now on my new guys...really fast and a lot of lessons learned.
When I do ramparts I will use my feral druid...That disarm sucked
I will level another set 1-60 so I can grant to 60.
Thanks for all the help guys.
I will follow up with more details as I am sure people would like to know what I went through. While its fresh in my head

Level your toons, to 99% into the level.
Then grant levels to them.
They'll end up 99% into 60th, and be 61st on exploration exp's very quickly.

so, the next set to 59.95 then grant a level from my current ones to almost 61

Well.. I usually level and then boost, in sets of two.
As in...
A will boost B-E.
And then a different set of toons on B-E.
Then level a third set of toons to as close as possible to the next level.
Be it Level 2.97 or 3.94 or whatever.
And then grant them to 60th, 30 levels from one set and the remainder from the other.
They end up level 60.94 (or whatever) and ding 61st on exploration experience, usually prior to Hellfire or just zoning in.

Was in SW...hit 60 and took the portal to blasted lands and leveled...cool stuff..
Kinda akward granting levels.. bouncing between screens..gotta be an easier way lol

There was a macro, to grant a level to the current target.
It was a script command, but I've not seen it in quite a while.
And there's another one to click the first option on a dialogue box.
Put them both on the same keybind and spam away.

For me LBRS was always faster than any of the other instances from 45-55. You can park your guys on the first ledge and do all of the orcs and trolls while they're tucked safely away. The best part is killing mobs from the second you zone in until you zone out.
Here's a link to the thread with the level granting macros (http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=12002&highlight=grant+level)

Can anyone give me some feedback about this way?
I currently got 4 teams at 44 ( almost 45 ) and 1 team 47.
I wanna get all 15 chars ( i box 3 chars ) so all 5 teams 60 in like..NOW
Which instance would u recommend? when i bocked in early '09 i really burned stratholme so much.
Which bored me..and even made me quit wow at one point :p
i prefer fast runs with big groups that u can just aoe down, as i only got a 80 priest and 80 dk.
The dk is so undergeared i boost with my priest.
SO stratholme isn't the place to be for a clothy

I'm currently boosting my three locks with a ret Pally through Scholo.
I park them on the stairs just inside the instance. drop off the wooden bridge to the room below. clear the room, not stopping for any reanimated corpses.
I then make my way to Rattlegore, the reanimated corpses aggro most of the rooms mobs to me while fighiting Rattlegore, so once I'm done with him, I'm ready to AOE them down.
then its just a case of clearing all the bosses and pulling the basement full of zombies, and mopping up any stragglers / rooms of mobs on the way back to reset the instance.
Average time 12-15min (can be up to 20 minutes if you stop to loot the big corpse piles.
It helps to have an Enchanter in the group to dis any blues & greens - currently have 246x Large Brilliant shards (and have sold more runecloth than i care to think about)
My Boosting Ret Pally is in a mixture of low lvl epics and blues (3.5k ish GS)

You could give them all a try? then find what one you prefer/ can clear fastest.
Scholo - priest will get stuck on melee only char
personally I liked doing Strath, I used a prot tank so could pull EVERYthing...
but I have a level 80 priest also, and have used it before - spec disc with reflective sheilds.. you will be fine just watch out on the scarlet / undead side (do the skelly/zombies/abom trash only)
in LBRS.. i don't know what mobs are really good or abundant/clustered to aoe.

Just paid this retri paladin 100g to boost my druids in stratholme. they advanced 3 levels in 35 minutes.
and it gave me time to look around for good boost spots and what to skip etc.
I came up with this solution.
Enter at the normal entrance, make 2 pulls to clear it fully. Go past the rats.
Clear left side until living, Go in make 1 massive pull until last boss, this works if someone boosts. but might be hard for your chars to be in exp range. So u could make 2 pulls instead.
Once living is fully cleared. clear until backdoor..
Go out and redo.
Why? even these pulls will be hard on my 5k gs priest. Undead sight = web / silence etc.
The time my priest would need to clear it wont be worth the exp.
And doing what i posted above will take like 30 minutes for a priest.
So u could keep going until u get bored.
sadly enough i dont have an 80 paladin :) would speed things up so much.
Yeah it looks like time spent is what it will come down to using a priest / undergeared dk.
you could try having druids all go healing to keep dk alive.. but lack of dps/threat would suck...
time to find a friend that can boost =x.
id help if you were on my server
try Mosg2 (http://www.dual-boxing.com/member.php?u=3092)'s comment about LBRS.

it seems alot of people like scholo but when i used to do on my mage, the stupid spell immune/bubble guys in 2nd room succckkkkkd.
also.. 70s used to be able to clear this stuff for boosting.. im sure ur dk could just not super quick

The point is i got 3 wow accounts. So i cant even boost my 3 chars.
I lvled all to 40, now i left the chars on my main account behind and started using my 80 to boost.
I will grand the left behind chars to 60. as it will make me have 10 classes on my main anyway.
I can clear stratholme but again the idea takes 30-35 min..if i do fully it would be 50 minutes.
Which means 2 lvls each boost until 55, and 1.5 lvl until 60...x5 teams that are currently 48
20 boosts would get all teams 56.
BUT 20 boosts = 1000 minutes equil to 16 hours and 40 min..
not to forget they would just be 56 xD
For now i'm still in zul farrak so nothing to worry about yet :p i guess..

Here's my strat for running Scholo. Or atleast how I ran it a few times.
I didn't try and pull everything from one end to the beginning or anything like most others. I just cleared one room at a time and kept my slaves right at the entrance on the steps and they got both rep and xp from every kill. Also got the option to get any BoP loot from boss kills except for one time off the Lich boss at the end (forgot his name). Found that out after the first kill. After that, I pulled him and mobs in there out into the hallway.
Anyway, here goes:
Park slaves on steps.
Kill first four guards on bridge.
Drop to room below and mow down.
Next room with spiders, skeleton guards, and casters, round up everything, and pull back into the first room with the locked door you just cleared. I used the line of sight trick on the casters. When they'd get low on health or start to run, most would just stay in that room, at that point, run up the stairs and line of sight AoE them with Consecration. Warning tho, these mobs do Silence and has almost gotten me killed.
Next room I run is the Hidden Room right across. Clear those and the boss, and hit the torch on the wall to get the chest in the first room you cleared.
Next room is the casters and whelps. Here, just aggro the casters, the whelps around them will follow, but not all. Whelps don't give as much xp as the casters, so don't spend much time on them.
Next is Rattlegore and minions. Kill everything and and loot Rattlegore for the key.
Go back and unlock the first room and get up on the stage with the two Undead bosses.
At this point, there's new smaller mob there to clear for extra before opening the door.
Next is the classroom.
AGGRO the main one at he table, not the one in the back corner. This will aggro the whole room there and you can AoE them down there on the stage. If you aggro the other boss first, only half the room will get pissed at you. Guess the other half don't like that teacher much :D
Next is the room with the Summoners, don't worry about the other bosses from here unless you want the loot/achievement. The xp gain from them is low and a waist of time IMO.
Take down the Summoners and Spider first. Summoners don't follow and and Spider kept trapping me.
LoS them around the walls, then move to the First main room with he book shelfs.
This room is not so bad after I found a different way to kill them than the vids.
Round up a nice size of them, don't matter if you can't get them all, and use the book cases, but jump up behind them on the wall. Watch out for the Succubus cause yes, she does stun ALOT.
Once cleared, run out and reset.
I mainly looted the bosses and whatever corpses haven't disappeared with Blues or Purples on them the first time around. No looting, I have only hit about 3, maybe 4 instances an hour. But then, I didn't rush it either. If you decide to loot, I can promise you won't hit the cap. And once they hit 55, you can use the Summoning Stone outside Ramparts to port them there.
FYI: My fresh Shamans I just ran this way, hit full Exalted with Argent Dawn by level 53. But at that point, I ran the whole instance quite a few times to farm the last boss to try and get the Ace of Portals with no luck.

you will need the key ;-)
the instance is very easy with level 80, after 2-3 runs you can do a FULL clear in 20 min.
leave twinks at start and go aoe pulling .. as 80er tank you won't die .. pala works best ;-)
ps. only loot the bosses.
pss. with a good tank you can do multi boss pulls for even faster runs.

I had to get help from a paladin friend of mine, but after we tested 3 runs we where off.
He was doing 15 minute runs, not fulls though.
kill 4 gaurds, place my 3 toons. kill the first room clear all until the boss that drops the key.
Get key keep clearing until the 6 rooms ( last mini bosses ) clear all, kill last bos.
out reset. Gets u 1.5 lvls at 54 to 55.5 we where chatting and linking loot and still doing 5 each hour ( no breaks ).
4 out of my 5 sets went from 47 to 55!
As u can see my druids are left behind :(
This took 5 hours so 1 hour 15 minutes for each set, 8 lvls that is.
so yea i'm happy :)
Tomorrow i'm hoping to finish them all 58. and Monday 60! granting lvls, buying bc and making shamans!
ty all for making me boost scholomance, it rocks.

Hey all,
I was looking to start multi-boxing, and have been finding mixed information on boosting.
Doing a raf setup as: A(80 DK runner) > B(new refer) > C(new refer)
Will I still get full 300% xp for both B and C running instances from 15-60?
It seems it was supposed to be changed, and a friend said it doesnt work... yet I'm hearing on the forums here that it still works.
Anyone within the last couple weeks setup a refer like this?
I am wanting to keep A, and maybe B (probably not tho). I will be transfering the characters to A at the end tho. I am just trying to get a few characters lvld up quickly as my guild seems to be erradic for ppl doing raids (its a friend guild tho so I cant quit it)
Thanks for any replies.

you will get 3x exp as long as B and C are within 3-4 (forget exactly) levels of each other. Boosting is the fastest way but you might also level 3 at once, at least to 30 then boost b + c to 60. You can then gift A 30 levels.

So just to confirm, people are currently doing this and it's working?
As I said in my op, I was told that if the puller is linked at all, and mobs are grey, then A to B won't get 300% and since B doesn't get 300% C won't get it either.
So the above is false?

yes i 5 box with RAF run out so linked 2 new cheap accounts during half-term and boosted
A(veteran)->B (New)- >C(new)
RAF definitely works with this.
I also tried D (veteran accn not linked) with B & C and still maintained RAF.
