I love how people charge 10-15 gold fee for doin' something. So I ruined the hole market for a good 10 hours last night. People.. were... not happy ..

Something like this. I swear, never have I had so many mad whispers from other crafters. Good love having more proffesions.

Well if someone went through the effort of leveling up a certain skill, and when i have the mats he can make me an awesome bracer, i think that person deserves a reward. Without him i couldn't have my upgrade. 10-15 gold are peanuts, and it's a *deleted* way to make a penny. Personally i never ask anything for a craft, but if they tip me for that i'm happy. Same thing when i need a craft: i'll never deal with people who want a tip, instead if they don't ask i tend to give them a generous one.

Anti-semitic comments are not welcome here..

The funny thing is, people that charge for crafting make TONS less than the people that do it for free. If you have two toons of the same profession (preferably with non-similar names) park them both in trade and spame the same profession. One for 'tips welcome' and one for a fee. Watch the results... they are hilarious.

Any time I see a crafter charging too much to craft a pattern I have, I spam that i'll do the same one for free and come to them. Then I bring my whole team and buff them and offer a free port. I've gotten as high as 100g tips :)

And people who craft to sell on the AH make even more than the "rely on tips" crowd...

Also true for the most part.

This is the next stop for me :) BS, Tailoring, Alchemy, LW are in the works. Inscription is pointless on my server :(

Doesn't that get annoying with all the tells though? If I see someone asking to link a profession and I link it, I usually get 4-5 tells from people wanting stuff. I can't imagine the crap I would see if I spammed all mine. I have 10 of the 11 professions on my team -- everything except blacksmithing. I remember spamming that once on my low pop server and I couldn't keep track of all the tells.

Still - do that again and screen shot that! That's some funny stuff!

When leveling Enchanting (for free) with their mats, I never charge for anything.
And once my profession is maxed, again I never charge (still their mats).

I think I've had maybe a dozen people not tip.
Which is not a big deal, since I'm not asking for a tip/combine fee.

But not asking for tips, results in much higher gold per hour (from tips), then asking for any amount of a combine fee.
Back when the 15 Agi to gloves enchant was only from a drop in AQ, instead of a faction reward... I received a 100g tip for doing this enchant to a pair of level 19 rogues (their mats too).

I'm petty sure i can disagree on that. Everyone is saying that, like they did when i wanted to level it up. Aslong as you don't expect to make 3k a day, it's one of the most easy gold incomes for the time spent if you repost 2-3 times a day. Even if you have 10 people watching the market. I got one guy on Grim Batol who's practically online 24/7, but still i sell dozens of glyphs. There are A LOT of different glyphs which is awesome.

(buyout cheap glyphs & repost at 40g or so a couple of times a week is probably required for a good profit though.)

Edit: if you have multiple people with a max treshhold <10g, then that could fuck you up properly though.

Ive played wow since realease an Ive met some very interesting people along the way. Ive never charged for any professions that I do But if they tip me then ill accept. I bet ive made more friends and gold by not charging then anyone has by charging. I even get people that ive done stuff for offer to do stuff for me just because back in the day i helped them out. Hell, ive ran around starting areas handing everyone 4 - 16 slot bags just because it sucks starting with little space. the friends that i have made along the way were far more worth it then the little gold i spent to make stuff.

I like to crash the 16 slot bag market periodically. This is mainly because I couldn't afford the bags when first starting on my server and I've never forgotten. So I buy all netherweave cloth I can find and make the bags, undercutting everyone else, then undercutting myself till the price is almost half of normal.

I don't outright sell for much less because they would just be bought and reposted at higher. Undercutting over and over seems to prevent this.

Even though I make lots of gold with my bank alt I consider myself as an asset to the buyers. When prices are too low it can cause supply to dry up and then everyone loses. So I buy when to low. When prices are too high I undercut those people and clean up.

this is without a doubt a brilliant idea; i was planning on doing something similar but don't have the time yet to help out other players. Along similar lines was to help boost another player through an instance i'm already doing for 2 of my lvl40's. But would this impact the RAF/XP?

That's crazy! To think, people would charge for their time and expertise!

Hell I'm going to apply this to my real life career as well, ruin the entire consulting market by offering all my services for free!

And I see you spent 10 hours accomplishing absolutely nothing. You could've been more productive hanging out in Goldshire on Moon Guard.

Yea the 10g+ tip seems to be the unwritten rule of someone providing their tradeskill services =)
I'm more than happy to tip people for crafting something for me.
