I'm two boxing, and I have a warrior and a rogue. The problem is whomever is following the other is never actually close enough to melee, so i have to make all these fine adjustments during play. is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Also, leveling a paladin and a mage, the mage was the slave and she would cast spells and not lose follow, but the rogue is the slave and loses follow whenever she attacks something. Why is this different?
#showtooltip /cast [target=focustarget] Sinister Strike that's the rogue macro,
#showtooltip /assist focus /cast Fireball is the mage one, i had the rogue one /assist focus and it did the same thing so i changed it to target=focustarget but i'm still having trouble. i looked through the guides and tried to search but i didn't know how to phrase it to get search results. Thank you for any help.

TURN ON CLICK TO MOVE, KEYBIND "INTERACT WITH TARGET" TO YOUR Z KEY, SPAM Z.... DONE.
any questions? lol search for interact with target and you'll find the information on it on the forums here, its pretty simple tho
Whenever you hit something in melee, it will stop following whoever it was following. This can be fixed with jamba and follow strobing, or just use a focus as lead system and a /follow focus button(i use f for follow focus, and Shift+f for target focustarget)

You need to set up Interact With Target for melee toons.
Go to your Blizzard Mouse Options {ESC > Interface > Game {Not Addons} > Mouse} and enable Click-to-Move on your slaves {Enabling click-to-move on the master is not advisable...nothing is more annoying than trying to click a mob and running off into the distance}.
Now go to Key Bindings {ESC > Key Bindings} and look for the Targeting Functions section. Near the bottom of that section, you will find Interact With Target. Set this on your slave as well.
Your Slave Combat macros should look like -
/assist MAIN
/cast hurtystuff
When you enter combat, hit your combat macro, and then hit the button you set for interact with target. Your slave will assist you and run up to the target without you having to position him.
Melee attack and channeled spells break autofollow, that's just how it works. Your mage will break follow if she casts a spell like Arcane Missles. I'd suggest getting Jamba and using the autofollow after comabt feature.
Edit - No you don't need ISboxer. It is a standard ingame configuration.

Thank you for all the help everyone. Every time I saw "interact with target" in a thread title, it was always with ISBoxer and i just assumed that it was one of the features of that particular program. This should make everything a lot easier.
