This may or may not be new but I haven't seen anything about it and have been interested since I started my Alliance team...I was able to mail myself a BoA pet last night, so I went and got me some heirloom armor and a staff and was able to also mail them. Anyone know when this came out, and did I just miss a memo somewhere?

They're also planning on cross-realm BoA mail to work, and may or may not have that ready before the expansion.

I'm still waiting to be able to cross-faction mail ANYTHING (tradable) to characters on the same account instead of having to go through the Neutral auction house.

If you're able to cross mail any non-soulbound item, to the opposite faction.
That will definitely kill a few markets.

I'm making 1.5-2k a week, selling alliance (unlimited supply) pets on the horde auction house.
I spend maybe 5 minutes once a day listing them.
Purchase for 30-50s and sell for 9-16 gold, depending on the pet.
Interestingly enough horde (unlimited supply) pets sell for almost nothing on the alliance side, but alliance pets on the horde side are an amazingly easy source of revenue.

So far you can only cross-faction mail boa's.
I only recently discovered this myself reading the log of the recent developer chat from twitter.

So if you are using the cross faction AH for getting mats/pets to the other faction, how do you do it? I know with gold it is simply by posting a grey priced for whatever amount of gold you want to send your opposite faction toon, but with actual items I am not really sure how you could do this?
Care to shed some light on this? :D

Put a toon at all locations with a neutral AH, look for people camping it. Put up your item in the ah... already have it typed in on your alt toon whom is buying the item (no matter the price). Using either mouse broadcasting or manually switching quickly search/instantbuyout (addon). Not much to it.

So then it is a simple case of getting to the item before someone else buys it. The risk being that if you are not camped at all Neutral AHs then someone else could snap up the item

I've transferred hundreds of items through the neutral AH and have never been sniped. Type the item in the search field on the destination character, list them for 1c buyout, and click 'search' the second after you hit submit to post the auction. Even if someone knows you're transferring items, they'd have to be pretty fast and lucky to snipe anything. I never bother checking to see if people are standing by the other neutral AH's.

On the other hand, I just happened to be browsing the neutral AH for Green Hills pages this week when I came across someone doing just such a thing. I got a stack of Crusader Orbs for 1c.

I never post for 1c, and I never use the same price for Bid and Buyout because you can bid with no confirm.

I post for at least a few gold to minimize chances of a lowbie being able to buy it all

I position four toons, one per neutral auctioneer.
They are:
- Booty Bay, by the mail box.
- Booty Bay, the bottom level of the house by the upside down half boat.
- Everlook, the building with the bank.
- Gadgetzan, the only building that goes underground.

I always list for 1 copper.
But am content to only transfer when there is no one around to snipe.

The listing fee is 3x higher then the faction auction houses.
But you get all of it back, when the item sells, so this is a non-factor.
But the sale price (or auction cut) is 15% of the sale price, instead of 5%, which can hurt.
15% of 1 copper is nothing lost.

So have you leveled alts on the other faction or is there a way to get a level 1 to the neutral auction house?

Thats pretty easy actually, let them die then res them at a spirit healer near the Neutral AH(You get awesome ghost speed that way, or if you have a level 60 or below and still have RAF summon them there).
You might run into 1 or 2 critters that will take you out but its mostly a clean run.
There is (Or used to be) some bug with ressing near Booty Bay it will teleport you to where you died. The best place to res if that is still the case is Ratchet, just catch the boat (If alliance) res and then catch boat back. Easy :) Well easy on PvE anyway.

if I recall there are 3 ah guys in bbay ? (isn't there one near the vendors too)

when I did cross faction trading (my favorite was the throwing stuff for l19 twinks - buy 20s, sell 120g) I used to use a couple gold too to avoid getting sniped too easily - back in the days you could run bottom scanner to find people listing and snipe their stuff

I had no problem selling for 50s or 1g, and when the horde alt had too much money it would buy back a bag for 500g

I used Death Knights.. started at 55th, were 57th/58th on leaving the starting area.
And already had all the flightpaths there.

The level 1, and rez at the spirit healer already there is a good idea.

I'll check it out.

According to wow wiki, there are only the four neutral auctioneers.
But that's not saying there aren't more then four.

You guys are really doing it the hard way. All you need to do before you start sending some items through the neutral AH is do a search for

/who 1-20 stranglethorn vale
/who 1-20 tanaris
/who 1-20 winterspring

right before each trading session. Obviously if there is actually someone this low in the zone something is shady and then yes you might check it out if they are standing right next to the auctioneers. Even then it doesn't mean they are trying to ninja anything. They could just be doing the exact same thing that you're about to do.

Edit: Also wanted to point out that in 4 years of doing this and probably literally around 10,000 trades, I've only been sniped once.

On that note I would note that my "opposite faction AH toon" is lvl 21.
And that some people, as mentioned earlier in the thread, just use a deathknight, if they don't have an intention of leveling one on their main faction on that account.

@ Gormand: didn't ghost running get disabled a couple years ago??

I used to do this all the time to get to a new zone, but with one of the 2.x patches I ran a lvl 1 night elf from the starting zone to the GY outside Ironforge, clicked the spirit healer and rezzed right up immediately.

... Immediately, right back back in newbie zone, after wasting about 20 minutes of my life running across the globe in spirit form. I haven't tried this trick since, so maybe it's has been changed since this happened to me.

Yeah, as far as I know you can no longer spirit rez at any other spirit healer than at the graveyard you are placed at when you release.

My neutral auction toons are...
- 1x Level 58 (Death Knights, with all flight paths).
- 1x Level 80, semi-retired raider toon.
- 2x Level 60, from RAF but not leveled since.

I did get a lowbie to Gadgetzan once.
By swimming along the coast as a Aquatic Form druid... from Theramore Harbor.
