Hello people who apparently share common interests. I'm new to the dual-boxing concept and have a few questions that hopefully the more experienced dual-box veterans can provide advice on :)

I already had a Main account that is a rogue before I became interested in the idea of running two accounts at once or I might have chose another class.

Rogue is Main and Shaman is Alt
http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/#character-sheet.xml?r=Thrall&n=Iskra
http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/#character-sheet.xml?r=Thrall&n=Arksi

I broadcast (Multibox) the “0” through “=” key along with “Numpad 0-9”

“1” key macro for alt is:
/follow
/assist party1
/castsequence Windfury Totem, Earth Shock, Strength of Earth Totem, Earth Shock

Num0 - Empty
Num1 – Heal party1
Num2 – Heal self
Num3 – Nature's Swiftness Heal
Num4 – Earth Shield party1 and Water Sheild self (/castsequence)
Num5 – Quest Items
Num6 – Accept Trade/Group/Etc macro
Num7 – Grounding Totem
Num8 – Mana Tide Totem
Num9 – Searing Totem

Ok, I think I provided enough information to finally present my Question :)

I feel like I'm not utilizing the shaman well enough to its ability. I seriously lack imagination and 'out of the box thinking' that some of you visionaries around here seem to have. Can anyone suggest new ways to map these keys to make better work of the shaman's abilities?

Do you need to see my Rogue's tool bar?
1. SS (BS when raiding)
2. Slice N Dice (not used much -- unless raiding)
3. Kick
4. Eviscerate
5. Gouge
6. Cloak of Shadows
7. Blind
8. Pick lock (empty)
9. Disenchant (empty)
0. Mount
-. (empty)
=. (empty)

The rest of the Rogues abilities are on non-broadcast keys with custom bindings. Can anyone think of macro's that could go into the above keys on the shaman that would work well w/ corresponding Rogue ability for associated key press?

If you have questions that must be answered in order to give me the much needed advice I seek, then, please ask them here and I'll respond asap.

ADVthanksANCE

does /castsequence work normally?

what are the restrictions on it?

Generally I try to play my main as close to "normal" as possible and limit what the secondary character can do to what he does best. To me this helps simplify things and reduces decisions I have to make during fights. I might miss out on cool things that a secondary could do in a situation, but as long as the team together can prevail, I don't sweat it.

I don't know anything about a Shaman so I can't help you there, but here is an example of something I've done with a mage that might give you some ideas.

A mage can get the spell called Combustion through talent points that helps raise the Critical Strike chance of a spell. It's on a three minute Cooldown.

If I have a mage with Combustion as a secondary character, I don't want to have to remember every three minutes to activate it. Instead I do this in a macro:

/cast combustion
/stopcasting
/cast fireball

If Combustion is NOT on cooldown then it activates, if it is on cooldown you just get an annoying voice message saying its not ready but you still get the fireball. (There is a way to turn off this voice message, I just don't have it in front of me right now. But for secondary characters I turn off sound anyway, so its not a big deal.)

Playing a mage solo, I would typically hold Combustion back in reserve for those times I really need it. However, as a secondary character I don't worry about keeping it in reserve and the above macro helps make sure I get some use out of it every few minutes. It might not always be at the most opportune time, but at least I get something out of it instead of it going to waste.

Perhaps there are abilities with a Shaman that you could use like this to get more mileage out of him with little effort and less demand on your attention.

Not sure what you mean but below are some examples of the macro's I've created.

/castsequence reset=target Spell1, Spell2, Spell3
/castsequence reset=combat Spell1, 2, 3
/castsequence reset=10 Spell1, 2, 3 (10 seconds it resets sequence)

also

/castrandom
and just plain old /cast

There are also the [ ] options with each of these to further control some conditions but I won't get into all those. I am still learning a great deal about the new macro system myself.

Yarddog,

You make great point about not having to think about it to much while fighting. I'd like to have the feel of one character from the management perspective but feel the power of two. I assume I'll just need to find my middle ground on this one.
