Is it normal to have to drink often? I'm not the best geared but i should have much better gear coming in the next week...4 hilts, jeweled wizard bracers, etc... But i'm curious if this will be enough to have mana efficiency increase quite a bit. It seems i drink 3-5 times per instance which to me is quite a bit.

Well your gear ain't that bad to do heroics (the ones that are listed above your avatar) i'd say, just missing some drops. This (http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Kul+Tiras&cn=Flyingvasco)is my best geared shaman. He only has the frost badge belt, the rest are all drops and triumph badge gear. In most instances i never have to drink.

However i'm using a resto shaman to heal, which makes my dps never having to use any heals (except when i screw up), It appears to me you are running 4x elemental .. having a resto might make a huge difference besides using thunderstorm whenever it's on cooldown and using the mana pots. Obviously when you get better gear, your dps will increase. And dps increase = faster killing thus less need to use additional spells = less mana needed :P

The more you run instances as a team, the more you will feel comfortable to take on boss fights with just 40% mana left btw.

I see you have 3 points in Unrelenting Storm. I have this on my pve build and it takes a buttload of spam to get my mana down. Now I dont have it on my pvp build. But even still, mana usually is not a concern.....even in long AV fights where its wave after wave of hostiles coming my way.

Just make sure you are popping thunderstorm as often as possible.

This may sound obvious, but be sure Water Shield is up and running as well. Any mana issues I encounter (which is very, very seldom) are usually because I forget to keep this active. Same with mana totem.

When I run heroics...
The team is Prot Paladin, 3x Elemental Shaman, 1x Warlock.

The team gets replenishment from the warlock.
The pally does Blessing of Wisdom on each of the others, Santuary on herself.
I use Runescrolls for Fortitude and Drums for 8% Kings + MotW.
Water Totems are on a click system... 3x Healing, then each of the next 3 clicks drops a Cleansing instead.
Shammies use Water Shield and refresh it often.
And Shammies Thunderstorm towards the end of each fight.
Only the Warlock needs mana, but Lifetap fixes this and there is a ton of passive healing between Fel Armor and 3x Healing Stream.
I've added Endless Mana Potions and Endless Healing Potions (Alchemy) to the mix, on their main Click key.

Not sure if you're doing all this or not.
Hopefully some of it helps a bit.

get in the habit of refreshing watershield after every pull and mid-fight for longer fights with splash damage

1. >>Stop spamming the living day lights out of Chain Lightning<<
2. Water Shield
3. Mana spring totem
4. TS whenever its up

Using the basic shaman macros, so it's not being spammed. Water shield is up. Mana spring is down OR greater wisdom. TS is used.

Just play a bit more conservative then. My shamans are far from pro geared, mostly pvpgear and i don't even carry water with me. (keep forgetting to buy it, but the point is valid :P)

Id just drop chain and single target stuff down if mana is a prob...chain is a mana eater
