View Full Version : Multibox Raiding (semi-rant)

I'm sure some of you are wondering why there hasn't been much raiding action going on (outside of the DiT crew), especially multibox raiding.

Legion of Boom was started under a casual raiding idea, but we haven't been doing much. Here's why.

Very few take it seriously. For whatever reason, "casual" gets directly translated into "fuck it, they'll carry me".

Things that make me not want to even try to raid with boxers:
1) Un-enchanted gear. We're boxers. We can make money easy. Myself and Zod GIVE AWAY enchants to anyone who asks. There is no excuse for this.
2) Un-gemmed gear. See #1
3) Out-of-reagents. Holy fuck how hard is to swing by a vendor and pick some up?
4) Sloppy macros / bad DPS. Pretty much everyone is running a group comp that has been figured out, and macros published (by me or others). I've spent hours in game helping guildies get there macros working - hell, I even write a lot of them for people and email them off. I'm not asking for you to have a 5500 gearscore and put out 10k DPS like Niley says you should be (lol), but if you're putting out 1k with 3500+ gearscore, something is seriously wrong.
5) Movement keys. Every raid in WotLK has LOTS of movement. You need this stuff figured out. I understand that there is a "learning" curve to these fights, and I'm willing to help you practice. But if its your 15th time BOXING OS10/25+0, and you STILL die to flame waves - something needs to change.

and last but not least

6) HEALERS. Nobody every wants to heal. In a 25 man raid, you need at least 5 healers (accounting for 'boxing mistakes, 7 would probably be better). Now that I've finally given in and installed Innerspace / ISboxer I can't believe how easy group healing is with a 'boxed healer (mouseover macros is all I need!). So every boxer should bring there own healer and take care of their own group. (mouseover region's ftw)

I understand that sometimes you only wanna play DPS. Thats fine, I can work with that. But when 25 characters show up and EVERYONE is DPS - that's a show stopper. A year ago when we were doing this our "solo" healers got totally burnt out (and quit player altogether) on healing because no one else wanted to go heal so they could do something different.

Anyway, /end rant

March 1st I'm moving back to the Monday night raids because of real life requirements on on other weeknights (dropping out of the DiT group). I'd love to get people together to do stuff. But if you guys want to push content (not faceroll OS25+0 over and over again), you need to take it seriously. (this doesn't apply to everyone - for those that show up prepared, THANK YOU!)

I think we can pull off OS25+3 (because of the stupid amount of DPS we are capable of). ICC25 first boss(s) (lol marrowgar). ICC10 2x5 (first few bosses) (up to festergut I thiink is possible). VoA25(we've already dont 10, 25 is next on the list). We've got the new RS10/25 coming up in a month or two(Ruby Sanctum). We CAN do stuff. We've done Ony25 (rough, but she died!) We just need to get organized and make sure all of our characters are in "raid ready" status.

This is the whole reason I came over to KJ in the first place.

We in LoB have a very unique opportunity that almost no one else has. We have a ton of experienced boxers to draw from and the opportunity to at least try to do some cool things. There are millions and millions of players who single box and do high-level raids. Almost no one else has even the possibility of doing anything else. We do.

Nejcha has proven that if you think outside the box you can be very successful boxing high-level content. It might take some time, effort with macros, time gearing up toons, and lots of repair bills, but all solo-played guilds go through basically the same thing.

Supernova's sig says "Raid seriously or go back to pwning your i200 content in i232s". I totally agree - but I also came here to box. That's why I figured out a way to solo VoA10. If people enjoy playing solo toons in ICC10 and ICC25 raids that's fine (heck, I've done it over 30 times this month), but if we don't at least spend some of our time attempting to box some of it, why not just join any random guild on any random server?

Anyway, this is a long winded way of saying I'm in, Fur.

I'd like to add, that the only way a raid is really gonna happen, is if people show up, ready, at the planned start time, and have enough time to actually down content. So many times I've seen people try to start up a run, and post a time, and peole say they want to go, but when the clock dings, nobody is there, or they are about to log, or whatever.

Many times I've said in Guild chat "anyone wanna run x Raid?" and get no responses, and then when a few of us finally get to doing it, I see tons of messages "oh, I see you are running x Raid, got room to carry my sorry ass?" I mean seriously, nobody is willing to get a group together unless the group is already formed, and in the instance about to pull the boss. I'm happy to drop a toon to let someone else have a spot, but come in, have faith that the run will happen, commit to going, and wait like the rest of us to get the group forming.

If anyone would like help on how to gear/gem/enchant, Feel free to ask. I've helped many guildies tweak a macro, or choose which item to go for, or how to improve farming speed, ways to get different types of pvp gear, etc. The ElitistGroup addon gives a quick snapshot of gear, with notes for gem/enchant choice (it filters out stuff like PvP gear/enchants to spot ppl tryin to raid in pvp gear (which im guildy of with my shamans....)

So to prove to the guild that you want to actually raid, the next time a planned raid is scheduled, that you want to attend, Let's all show up on time, with the toons gear set, with the right attitude, ready to go and we will start facerolling ICC :)

And download and install Rankwatch.

I've even caught myself using a low ranked spell once or twice....

Just make sure Zod's shaman isn't in the group, after 5 minutes with Zod rankwatch told me to GFY and uninstalled itself.

Hey, I enjoy healing in raids. I consider myself pretty good at it too. But, if people always expected me to play a solo healer while I also have a tank and some DPS that I'd like to play sometimes, I would get burned out on it too.

Anyway, looking forward to getting my noob team to 80 to join the fun

I think there are a few of us that are behind the curve on content. I have 1 ok toon and 1 fresh 80 toon, neither of them can raid ToC/ICC. We can also get these people together and raid while the "A" team does there thing.
I work an odd shift (right now 1:30 AM) so hitting the week night raids are out even if I was geared up. I run my two 5 box groups when the mood hits, but gearing up my 80s and making money is also part of the fun of the game for me. I know I still have a lot to learn, but I think I am beyond huntard stage. My DK is another story, 80 is not the level to learn tanking.

Gear is not a problem. If you're gonna raid, on a regular basis, the gear comes automatically. Svper got a priest from a nub 80 to ICC 25 ready in a couple weeks. We can run chain heroics to get full T9, you can run ToC 25 in GDKP runs and grab some trophies, and go straight to the ilvl 245 T9, etc. The ICC heroics give great weapons, as well as other gear slots.

I'll be getting myself to 80 shortly and if you need a serious raider I'm usually free. Not sure my times for the summer but I'll be free for a few months.

If my toons every get to 80 and get geared up I am in. The healing with ISboxer and Vuhdo is like playing solo healer. But if your boxing you have to focus on moving around too so I dont think I could heal as good as a solo healer but its the best of both worlds. If I have the gold my gear will be enchanted and gemmed. The only reason I rolled here was because of Merc. I would love to box raid stuff instead of owning heroics in 232 gear. Count me in once I reach the point. My guys are 63 right now so I still have a long way to go.
