View Full Version : [ISBoxer] Resolution on slaves

I have recently made the switch from Keyclone to ISBoxer and have a question about the slaves resolution.
Previously I was running Keyclone with my 4 slaves tiled down the right side of my screen. I am using the exact same setup with ISBoxer, however now I notice that any text on my slaves screen is distorted. When using keyclone, while small and not ideal for reading, I could just glance over I verify if their quests were completed for example.
I believe ISBoxer requries that the slaves resolution be the same as the master for the instant PIP swap, and my Laptop's native resolution is 1600x900. Is this just part of the trade off instant PIP swap? It's not a huge deal, and to be honest I have not experimented with different resolutions, I was just curious if there is a fix for this.

when you say slaves are distorted, do you mean when they are showing in the main screen or when they are in PIP?
ISBoxer normally renders all windows the same resolution unless you state otherwise in the options.
Btw what laptop are you using to run 5 clients? I have a Dell Studio 1737 with 4 gig of memory and it finds it real hard to run 4 clients and next to impossible to run 5. It has a Radeon 3000 series dedicated video card.

Sorry, should have clarified, only when they are in PIP. When I switch windows, the main window is always nice and clear.
I am using the HP DV7, i7-720QM, 8Gig Ram, Windows 7 64bit. No lag in Dalaran. I did notice since switching to ISBoxer that my FPS dropped a fair amount, was getting 30+ in Dal on main, now usually hovers around 20. But of course I'm assuming that is due to all WoW's being rendered in the same resolution. I can certainly live with 20FPS in Dal and 40+ everywhere else.

You can render the PiP windows at a different resolution but as far as I am aware this may cause an issue with click regions (correct me if I am wrong)
Personally my windows on my notebook are sized so small that I can just see my toons and that is about it :) . My main 5 man boxing gets done on a desktop with two displays.
It would be nice to have a laptop that would run all 5 clients and let me sit on the couch lol
EDIT: BTW which video card is in the laptop? Nvidia G 105M or GT 320M?

I will mess around with the resolutions when I get home (I should have done it before posting here) but I am sitting at work and I just thought I'd ask.
I spend most of my time (90%) working out of town, so I needed (what I told my wife anyway) a laptop I could reliably 5 box on. Previously I was 5 boxing on a dual core, 4 gig ram and to be honest it was not bad at all(relatively speaking of course). I completed all heroics on it with my mixed class team, and could go to Dal if I absolutely had to, I just avoided it as much as possible.

It is the GT 230M

Correct. WoW with KC = actually renders at the lower resolution. WoW with instant-pip ISB = wow renders at the original resolution but the window is squashed down to fit in the smaller box, meaning pixels are just dropped instead of averaged/blended. It's all about what you want. I'm sure there's probably an option to disable that behavior in IB, though you'll probably lose things like accurate mouseclick/cursor location.

Great, thanks for the responses everyone. Like I said, not a huge deal and the benefits of ISBoxer's functionality make this an easy trade off.
