Possible to Raid with him with my current spec? It works well for the rets obviously because of the INSANE boost. And Im thinking because most of our raid is melee the same should carry over... So with his current spec possible to Tank/Offtank?

Or do you think im going to have to go a full Blood tank build???

I would research EJ and see what they are showing as the better builds

Ya i checked EJ as well my thing is I dont want to have to change specs everytime I feel like I want to DPS. and as far as my 2 builds go I dont want to have one for Boxing and one for raid... Id much much rather have my Boxing/raid tank build be the same thus leaving me another slot for DPS raid build. I mean the only things im missing out on are Will of the necropolis and Heartstrike... Heartstrike is obviously the one of most concern to me... unless wikk of the nec works like ardent defender with the 35% gimick... So idk...

If you are going to raid. Be serious about it. Learn to min / max everything you can. Including your spec. My raiding main druid has 2 feral specs. Pure Cat, and Pure Bear.

Then you should not be raiding. If you're not going to commit to it - don't waste other peoples time.

Seriously, blizzard gives you two specs! Use them. If that's too much of a hassle for you........ damn. I really don't know what to say? Install a botting program so you won't have to be bothered to actually play the game either I guess.

(disclaimer - no, I do not support botting you helpless twits, I was simply using the example to prove a point. now STFU already)

I understand I get two specs.... However Id love to use them differently and not have two Tank specs.. One for boxing and one for Raiding.. That being said do you think you could oh i dont know turn your sarcasm meter down a little bit... I mean christ I know it goes to 11 but that doesnt mean thats where it should stay all the time...

The point is, if you are going to raid you need to be serious about it. Making comments about not wanting to have to switch between specs comes across as though you aren't going into raiding with the best possible intentions. Now if you are just going to pug raid then that's a whole different story, that you can do whatever you want, you will either just get kicked or not invited if it turns out badly for you.

Take my advice, find someone you can con in carrying you through raids, that's what I did.

The beauty of having a tank spec custom tailored for your box team set up is that.YOU control the dps and can benefit most from the buffs, HOWEVER in raids you'll often find it is NOT enough, and I agree whole heartedly that if you plan to raid you better come correct, otherwise OTHER players will treat you like some scrub who doesn't know shit about dks.

This doesn't mean that you can't use a traditional tank spec and not do well boxing, I myself went that route with my druid. Just keep in mind YES it will work but won't be optimal for boxing... Up to you in the end, yet if I were you I'd try it out and see, you may find that it works much better than you give it credit for! :)

There appears to be so few people 'boxing raids that this shouldn't really even be a factor. Heroics are so easy now with T9 available that just about any spec thats "close" to a tank will work. (never mind the 5x shaman guys starting to brute force heroics again)

Thanks Vecter and perhaps I should make it more clear what im trying to say... Our Raid comp is mostly Melee (Ret and Fury) That being said I would ASSUME that the boxing build would pan out the same.. I mean who doesnt want 20% haste and 10% AP HOWEVER; Im somewhat concered about the whole no Will of the necro and no heartstrike.. But I feel what I dont bring to the table Threat/DPS I more than provide in raid support.... Perhaps this is what I should have posted....

if you plan on raiding, be serious about it, otherwise, don't bother. You might get away with it in large 25 man raids, if everything goes smoothly but when things go wrong, they might start kicking out the fails.

If you REALLY want to have a boxing tank spec, raiding tank spec and raiding DPS spec, then you gotta do it old school style, buy lots of extra glyphs, and change specs the old fashioned way. I mean how often would you be raiding as opposed to everything else? If you plan on raiding as tank, or as dps, keep that as one of your 2 specs, and use your boxing tank spec as the other one. Use an addon like talented, to store talent specs, and import from sites such as wowhead. With talented having a third spec is as easy as going to your class trainer, unlearning talents, and applying a template. Only a bit more complicated than the built in dual-spec feature.

If you are finding your raid is melee heavy, chances are youll already have the buffs your speccing for covered by another player. For instance you could have a enh shaman covering the haste and ap, a marks hunter covering the ap, or even another dk covering one of them. Personally Id go with a pure tanking build because while the dps buffs are nice, at the end of the day if your tank is squishy it isnt going to help you out a lot :P

I can agree with the last statement.. Problem is my team is REALLY stacked two types we dont have a hunter another dk or and enh shaman lol we have rets and fury.... LOL sadly im not kidding.

Screw it im just going to have two tanking builds for the time being... I figure shit if I need to switch specks and Go dps the cash really is a non issue.

imo you have 4 rets, use THEM for dps and just focus on your tank as a tank. Given that your raid is HEAVILY stacked for melee as you say, the odds of you getting to dps/getting dps gear is LARGELY up to either offspec drops or solo/multiboxing play for you. It wouldn't really make sence, and even IF you do spec your second tank spec for multiboxing, realize with a quick gear swap and strong knowledge of the class/mechanics you can still do very good dmg :) not the best, but good enough. I wouldn't really worry about dps as a focus for your dk unless its pvp dps anyway :) Odds are all the other melee in the raid will get pissed if you start stealing their gear :D lol

The traditional tank build is what you want, yes the haste is nice, but CAN be provided by another player, and its not really that big a bonus that the risk > reward. In the end you're still gonna give the raid either A) 10 % ap or B) the haste buff , depending on what spec (blood or frost) you choose, and that's better than nothing :D

Everyone here is right however, if you're gonna tank, tank right :) You'll gain more respect and pugs will love you better
