View Full Version : [WoW] Jamba - Forward messages "Facing the wrong way" UI up for debate.

Hello,

As you might have noticed, Jamba 0.5 does not have a mechanism for forwarding UI Errors and UI Messages, such as "Out of range" and "Facing the wrong way".

In previous versions of Jamba, all the UI Errors and UI Messages were sent to the master toon. This caused some addon channel lag issues. To solve this problem, I am going to add a list where you specify which messages can be forwarded. Only those messages in the list will be passed to the master toon.

I am toying with the idea of throttling the messages as well; something like: if the master gets the same message 5 times in a second, only show the first of those messages in that second.

The question I have is how to display these messages on the master toon? Here are my ideas:

1. Forward to a Jamba Message area, so that the user can define where the messages go; i.e. to party chat or to an MSBT area.

2. Have Jamba Display Team pick up the messages and display them next to the toons name somehow.

3. Create a new UI that flashes icons next to the toons name / portrait (plugin for PitBull?) when the master gets a particular mesage from a toon. For example, maybe flash a great big red box next to the toons portrait if it is facing the wrong way.

Can you expand on what I have here? Do you a preference for one or the other? Would you like to see all 3 implemented? What are you ideas?

All feedback really appreciated, as you ultimately will end up using this (if you choose)...

Cheers,
Jafula.

My quick response on this would be: 1) highly useful idea and something I'd like to see and 2) send it through with options for the user to define how it is "shown". For me I already have too many visual queues. What I'd like is something that would allow me to assign a sound and then have a semi-persistent visual message.

So, I'd hear the sound and then look at a spot on the screen (your idea for a visual icon near the toon would work) to see which of my team is either faced the wrong way or out of range.

A side note to this would be if you can create a plugin for the unit frames can you also add a plugin to create a custom group. That seems to be one of our biggest problems. Seeing all our toons in battlegrounds. That functionality would be amazing for pitbull. What do you think?

Thanks for the amazing addons.

I like option 1, where it goes to a frame/area of choice.
And where you can configure which is shown/filtered.

I'll admit as a Dual Boxer I don't really notice the lag issue, having the options there would be good. Integration with other addons would be good. I think the only thing with Party Chat is you might not notice it when you really need it and could annoy single players in BGs and Raids.

I'd love to see it as part of Jamba Team display. As it is, when someone drops follow it takes me a second to register which one of them has dropped - not usually a big deal as I always have to stop my main anyway, but in a fight I need to know which toon is facing the wrong way ASAP.

Great app - any chance you could look at my feature request for Tags? :)

I use Parrot and Jamba Proc. Being able to link these with this new feature would be sweet. What would be even better is being able to send the messages to their own area of the screen on your main. Like for those of us that use one monitor for all toons, I have my setup like this:

________________________________
| Slave 1 | Slave 2 | Slave 3 |
| Window | Window | Window |
--------------------------------
| Main's |
| Window |
| |
|______________________________|
I'd like to put the message for each slave at the top of my main's window directly underneath each specified toon, and easily changeable for when I swap out toons or play different teams.

Maybe even make it to where you can change the message for each toon to what ever you want it to say. And possibly change the font on them too. I like the Diablo style myself.

I also use x-perl and when raiding, toon's window's show up at the bottom right above my actionbars automatically, but are too small. I've toyed with the Jamba Display Team deal, but watching mana and party's target is not possible with this. Anyway we can see a change/update here? Or am I doing something wrong?

Another thing, I with the Proc display on main, I have these big long bars in the middle of my screen when Art of War procs for my pallies, but can't move or reposition it. Is there a way to? I've tried to by moving the Parrot regions around, but they stay in the same spot. Plus can I shrink or set them vertically? I'd like to get them out of my field of view as I hardly have any with my addons and small screen. Plus, even tho I have the option set to only display on main, the procs show up on all my slaves too and don't always display when they should. I've cast an instant heal with my slaves while others channeled FoL, but no Proc display was showing. !?! I'll mess with it again, but I'm not sure about this.

Awesome idea. I'm watching this thread and I'll try and post my refined ideas in a few days.

That fits the need for something persistent. I don't know about everyone else but the amount of text spam I get (self inflicted) between DBM and combat text is insane. Its easy to miss stuff like this that is, itself, a persistent situation. Stated another way, missing notice of an eclipse proc or something isn't critical. Seeing that a third of my DPS is "off" because of a facing issue is and won't change through time only.

So, using the Jamba team window or some other means of creating a persistent message until the remedy is applied (i.e., no longer getting the "facing the wrong way" message) would be awesome.

Hi.another thread, another theme....

I am using both Jamba and GCP.

The GCP-Addon (GameCommandPro) got StatusBars, CastBars and an extra-MessageFrame,too...placed together is it very useful, because i can "see" 3 Coloured Squares better then read 3 different Messages placed around my Screen....with BossInfoPopups and other ScrollingBattleText..and one of my toons looks in a different direction...omg...

With GPC there are Coloured Squares, one row for ToonSpells, like the Jamba-Follow-Green-or-Red in the TeamWindow, if i see a Red thing between a row of Green things, I hit "Interact"Backstep".

GCP Itself may be Useful, too...i like to use HKN and write my Hotkeys by myself, but the GCP-Addon is a must Have for Multiboxer, and its free...;)
Only the Arrangement is Horrible, ive createt my own...

I would love it if I had a huge flash up when my main character is stunned or netted or for whatever reason can't move. I never can tell if I"m not supposed to be able to move or if I have some kind of problem with my keyboard.
